Glad to hear that! Stay tuned :)

03-23-2008, 03:29 PM (

So here's another concept. Similar scene...different mood.

03-23-2008, 03:40 PM
now this is more like it. i wasn't sure about the first one before.
good start. good luck

03-23-2008, 03:40 PM
ah damn u Goro... put in to the finish section and call it done... and take the prize :P the atmosphere is so awesome here! sell it to pixar and they'll made a great movie out of it.

03-23-2008, 03:40 PM
Cartoon style attacking! :D Great start Goro, good luck!

03-23-2008, 04:58 PM
Wow the second one is just brilliant. The mood is just perfect.

03-23-2008, 05:00 PM
I like the way you take. The obvious direction of this challenge appeared to be more realistic or scientific, but indeed, whatever, as you, i like the way of dream and cartoon caracters.

I don't know if this is the the way i'll take but it's a nice idea .

Good luck.

03-23-2008, 05:46 PM
Hi Goro,

great concept. Nice mood and colors...I really like it!

03-23-2008, 06:28 PM
Oh man, it's so cute and...pretty! For lack of a better word that is. I can't wait to see how it'll turn out.

03-23-2008, 07:41 PM
Still warming up Goro? you need no luck you placed in the other contests. I want your crown. I will keep an eye on your thread most definitely. Later.

03-23-2008, 07:48 PM
I really like your 2 previsualizations.
REally right colors and beautiful composition.
Best luck,

03-23-2008, 07:49 PM
Just lay down and wait for the prizes to come man, this picture looks done .

03-23-2008, 07:59 PM
i really like this one better. it just seems right and tells a great story....

03-23-2008, 08:34 PM
I absolutely adore this one!
The aurora borealis brings such a nice and serene mood to the whole picture.

03-23-2008, 09:33 PM
Simple yet so elegant and well-crafted, very nice!

03-23-2008, 10:06 PM
Yeah! I love this one too!

03-23-2008, 10:53 PM
Wow, you've done it again. That first idea was beautiful. The little girl reading by the iight of the alien's antennae was wonderful, but this new image is even better. There is a sweetness and innocence in your creations that I like a lot. Your work is superb. I love the way you play with light and colour too. The only comment I could make about this new image is that it looks perfect (and finished) as it is.

btw, I'm still not sure if I'll be able to enter this one. But I'm not ruling it out either

03-23-2008, 11:16 PM
Very good images and mood, but the first was my preferred, the big alien with the girl remind me the E.T. mood, friend without prejudice :)

03-23-2008, 11:20 PM
thats great...

i realy want to know witch program you're all useing for sketches?

03-24-2008, 01:52 AM
Beautiful & marvels idea you have there...really really cool:buttrock:
love your art work style & the colors...
wish you good luck man n im looking foward more from you...bring it on man...

03-24-2008, 10:54 AM
This concept is also good and charming but previous one was so cute..:wise:
My vote is for the previous.

03-24-2008, 02:35 PM
still nice sketch !

03-24-2008, 02:48 PM
I vote for the second concept 'sketch' (if I can call it that, it's so awesome!).
You always do such lovely work Goro.
Good luck for the challenge.

03-24-2008, 04:48 PM
i like your style! just add you as favorite :-)

03-24-2008, 04:55 PM
your style's so cute ^^. I like the one looking at the aurora

03-24-2008, 06:44 PM
I had zero inspiration for this challenge but somehow you just gave me some.. we have to work together on something, someday.. i love you..

03-24-2008, 07:47 PM
Love this one, Goro!

03-25-2008, 12:08 AM

Thnx I will do some more concepts...

hehe nah..... ^^;

Thnx man! I'm planning to do a more sifi approach as well

hehe yeah...the warming up phase is the part I like the most.
I will stay in that stage as long as I can :)

Thnx for your comment buddy!
I'm thinking about doing a more serious action loaded aproach too.
See if I can make it. I'd like to go in many different directions this time so stay
tuned. I just saw you're in! I'll be checking your thread in a minute.

thnx! I'm ps addicted.

Hey bro! Good to hear from you! Now I've inspired you, I'm expecting you to enter
the challenge. And you know what happens if you don't finish...
And yeah! We definetly have to work together sometime let's found felloro studios or something like that :scream:!
What are you up to thesedays? You haven't updated your website in years.
And now hush hush enter the challenge!

03-25-2008, 10:32 AM
Go Goro Go! :)

03-25-2008, 11:37 PM (

So here is a completly differnt approach. I didn't read the uplift universe books but this came into my mind when I read the stuff on David Birn's website.

03-26-2008, 12:22 AM
this is gonna be a good thread :D

Love the most recent image

03-26-2008, 04:56 AM
i like that latest one alot...
nice colours and mysterious feel...
looking forward to see what ya go with...

the one with the little girl reading is cute too..

03-26-2008, 04:59 AM
Great composition!

03-26-2008, 05:07 AM
Fujita! This one is brilliant!!! A lot more action, a lot more tension. it's sort of getting away from your toony style( I LOVE YOUR TOONY STYLE), but it's still very eye-catching!

03-26-2008, 11:57 AM
Malanjo, nethken, Cyberone, sasquatch70

Thnx man. I will do a concept with some chimps too.
I'd like to try different styles and interpretations of the topic.
Still don't know if I'll end up cartoony or more realistic.

03-26-2008, 11:58 AM
Man, you make me so envious!! But, your work is awesome and I'm super inspired by seeing such high quality stuff produced so quickly.

I also prefer this one to the other two. Each idea just seems to get better and better!

03-26-2008, 03:47 PM
I don't understand the latest sketch, but still, it is compelling, the colour composition is brilliant...
I feel I'm learning just from looking.

03-26-2008, 07:34 PM
Man, your scetches are always awsome. :buttrock:

Just a small note: The "nose" of the dofphin looks a little bit off. More like a shrew.

03-27-2008, 10:49 PM
Great look for the dolphins, excellent lighting, excellent scene, -without reading the massive literature of Uplift I think you are right on! (DIG your talent!)

03-28-2008, 10:20 AM
Hey Goro!

Nice to see you taking the challenge again. The theme should fit your style perfectly. I'm really looking forward to see another great piece from you.

Personally I don't like your last one. I don't know - it looks like a movie still and not like an artwork. I miss the warmth in it that comes from your other concepts. If you want to do yourself and all of us a favour, stick to the things you really love to do. It will pay off in the end!

03-28-2008, 11:52 AM

alot of concepts here.
I like the little girl most thus far. (and the alien is cool)

All those "star wars / big battles and explosions -stuff" gets on my nerves.

but one can see already, this'll be a nice entry :D

03-29-2008, 07:56 AM
The latest sketch is my favorite so far. It has a very "classic/pulp sci fi" feel to it...very appropriate to the sponsored material.

03-29-2008, 09:01 AM :)

03-29-2008, 10:48 AM
I like the way you have created the sketch, nice lighting, paint / paper textures showing through. Super.

Skillful pushing around of digital paint. Looking forward to more.

03-29-2008, 02:36 PM
Yeah, completely agreed, the last one is very nice!
It's got the most potential of the whole bunch you did I think!

03-30-2008, 12:50 PM
Awesome awesome awesome ! C'an't wait for your next ones
Best of luck mate !

03-30-2008, 01:39 PM
I like the latest one too, brilliantly done.

03-30-2008, 04:48 PM
Hi Goro as in every contest always a lot of concept , all very good I really like the last one to. It's always a pleasure to see your work .

03-30-2008, 09:13 PM
Malanjo, nethken, Cyberone, sasquatch70

Thnx man. I will do a concept with some chimps too.
I'd like to try different styles and interpretations of the topic.
Still don't know if I'll end up cartoony or more realistic.

hey goro, cant wait to see your chimp-concept.

03-31-2008, 05:36 PM
hey goro

you threads are a treat to watch. so much life and the work always ends up being soo good. you will probably have to write more tutorials to document the nutty ways you make things.

then share them maybe? :)

03-31-2008, 09:13 PM
Very nice! I love it!
Good viewing angle, perfect colors!
I wait to see more!! =)

Good continuation! See you!

04-01-2008, 06:51 AM
Your latest concept sketch is superb and it's great to see that side to your talent. Of course I personally prefer your cartoony work simply because of my own personal bias, but if you did go with an action/serious/sci-fi style then I have no doubt you'd do an outstanding job of it. Whichever way you go, I'll be looking forward to seeing it progress.

The way I see it, as long as you follow the style that excites you the most then you're bound to come up with some real magic.

04-01-2008, 07:40 AM
goro - delightful - i like them all :) you go for a raw 2d or you plan some 3d elements ;)

04-01-2008, 08:41 AM
I agree - great concept, allready very impressive scene and light, I'm sure it will be awesome when you finish it.

04-01-2008, 08:57 AM
I really like what you're doing here, good luck!

04-01-2008, 10:16 AM
Nice work Goro as usual. Very different concepts. The 2nd one is a little too classic for me. The 1st nd 3rd are great, it depends if you want to do something humoristic or more serious.

04-01-2008, 11:00 AM
Superb storytelling stuff Goro. Gorgeously lit and full of atmosphere.

04-02-2008, 09:53 AM
hey Goro,

yea I would have loved to enter and hopefully I will later, if the inspiration is still there. but I don't want to leave another entry unfinished and get the same, hard punishment as last time :D
but ATM, busy. freelancing and fully booked until early/mid may as it stands now. it's the reason for not updating my personal site to.. work.

yea we spoke about it so long, we have to do something someday soon. a studio might be to early lol :D but at least a project or a few if the opportunity arise!!

your new pic looks great but it miss the "childish" storytelling feel i love so much in you works

04-02-2008, 09:47 PM (

I'm pretty sure that I won't work on this concept any longer but I wanted to visualize how I imagine those neochimps.

04-02-2008, 09:49 PM
oops doublepost...

Thanks a lot guys!

A Human and a Neodolphin are spying on the Enemy Alien Race.

Thnx man that's kind of you!

Hey Daniel wuzup. Hehe I think I know what you mean. Well actually I love to experiment. So I did another 'serious' sketch...
I already have another concept in mind which is cute, strange and frightening as well....stay tuned.

here you go :)

thnx man! I obviously do more of the cartoony stuff and I do like em more. But its fun to experiment with the dark side
of the force from time to time :P
But I think I get back to the cartoony thing in my next concept.

da swag is in the house! Thnx man. I haven't decided yet wether I use 3d or not...
A 2d 3d combo could be interesting.

Hey vince how are you! I'm still seeking for the one idea but I guess it's gonna be a humoristic thing.

fellah haven't updated your site in years so being busy is not an excuse...hehe!!! :P
A short film would be great....but it takes too much time I guess.....we can thing about it when we have our own
studio in 10 years ^^

Hehe don't worry. There are more concepts to come (with childish storytelling) :)

04-02-2008, 10:55 PM
Cool start, can't wait to see this progress!

04-02-2008, 11:07 PM
fantastic drawing, It always amazes me how well you capture the light and shadow in such rough sketching style. Why not say this one is finished ? you can enter more then one I believe. ;)

04-03-2008, 01:01 AM
dang these are cool 'sketches'. hope you have time to finish... gl

04-03-2008, 01:20 AM
Another beautiful sketch. It's always a real treat to see your updates

04-03-2008, 01:35 AM
Chimps as soldiers is cool. Some of the previous sketches had better ideas. This one can turn out to be a nice one as well, with a wow factor. We all know what Goro is capable of. Waiting for the next idea that you have in mind. Later.:)

04-03-2008, 02:48 AM
crazy goro >< next time if i see you enter the challenge, i will go do something else (heart break)

04-03-2008, 07:59 AM
DAmn! everything u did are so good that i cant say "OH! THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ONE!".
The colours are so beautiful...well like it very much! In my opinion u got masterpieces in your hands now!

04-03-2008, 08:07 AM
Amazing work, i love the neochimps, too bad your not gona work on them anymore, but both have amazing colors. I wanna c what else you can come up with...

04-03-2008, 09:50 AM
That starts well here, I like this sketch.

04-03-2008, 12:24 PM
this is awesome!

on a slightly more technical note, the pallet is really realistic, it looks like observational art. did you get some teched up monkeys to pose ?
and i love your suit designs.
nice one,

04-04-2008, 09:28 AM
HammaJamma, pixemo, mdavid, Tranchefeux
Many thanks guys!

hehe thnx man. Well I think the story in this is not strong enough and I'm not very
satisfied with the composition either.

Thank for your kind comment!

haha nah what the hell are you talking about! Your 3d stuff is coming along great!
Keep going man!

Wow thnx! Glad you like em.

Thnx man! Yep I have some armored monkeys at home ^^
No I didn't use any poses. Just straight ahead loose drawing.
After finishing I realized that I was inspired by unreal tournament and starcraft suits... ^^:

Maybe I'll do another chimp concept I just thought that this one is not strong enough...
It could be a movie still you know...I'd like to have more story in it.

04-04-2008, 12:36 PM
Goro, Lord of the concepts!:applause: I've been learning so much just looking at your works that I have to thank you. I see how much I have to grow. Keep rocking!
I will keep an eye on your thread (for sure!)
By the way, the neochimps are awesome.
Greetings from Brazil!

04-04-2008, 12:56 PM
watching your portfolio im sure is gonna be beautiful . the girl sketch looks nicer to me!:)

waiting to see more. I've enjoying your robot-cat story as well .

04-04-2008, 02:58 PM
nice to see you are in already, Goro :)

for me, I prefer the first tow sketches till now ... I didn't read the whole posts, but it looks like you still searching for a good sketch ...

good luck mate :)

04-04-2008, 03:58 PM
cool pic! it's your entry that makes me get back to check this challenge.. sad I have to crush you before this challenge is over.. in one way or another.. fear the smurfs!!!

hm yea true.. i can't blame my site on being busy :D haha.. well... uhm.. bye :D

04-04-2008, 08:31 PM
great sketching Goro! keep loading, the alien looks brilliantly funny!
looking forward

04-05-2008, 03:07 AM
Hi Goro,

Always great to see your menu of ideas! my favorite so far its 2nd and the 3rd they have mood and history more easy to look at it and also a bit more complicated emotionally, well they all look GREAT! althoug that will be personal choice :) I always see great things in your thread :eek:keep on coming that crazy good style!:D

04-05-2008, 03:22 PM
I like your Neochimp visualisation!

04-07-2008, 12:27 PM
Hey there long time no see. Are you entering?

Nice sketches since my first post , but I prefer the ones with cute little girl and strong colors.
I'm surprise to not see a lot of threads around cute things, this year. I'm just entering the challenge, but I will try to be more serious than on the past challenges ( all not finished :p ).

Good luck, I will be around if you have difficult choice to do, but I'm sure you will do perfect job with yourself choice.
(keep your exellence ! )

04-08-2008, 09:40 PM
hey goro. I found this toy. look like your character~ so cool
hope you like it.

04-09-2008, 09:10 PM
Hi Goro! I loved the cartoony concepts. In the other hand the gorillas are neat and the stalking scene isvery moody, the problem I find is that most of the characters are obscured either from being looking the other way or standing too far away, making hard to tell their alien or uplift features, but I know you will deal with that just fine, it's completely in your style. I'll keep an eye on this

04-10-2008, 02:55 AM
Bro great always have this great idea for your artworks...
The last visual, you did looks great...something like Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes.
keep up the good work men....MY FULL SUPPORT FOR YOU.....

good luck men...

04-11-2008, 01:52 PM
Nice concept, does monkeys are your favorite animal :) ? . Cause your avatar is monkey, you buy toy representing monkey and you sketch admirably monkeys. :applause:

By the way I i'll be watching further to see evolution. Promises a nice picture.

04-12-2008, 05:15 AM
I like all of them.
I would say go for the idea or concept that is most out of your
comfort zone.
you may be challenged and learn something.
I mean you are already well rounded,
so it could be neat to do a peice that is unexpected.

I am not one to talk. But at least I am doing it in 3d
wich is amazingly hard and slow for me and is NOT
what I get paid to do.

anyway 2 cents.
will you be visiting Redwood City soon I hope!!??

04-12-2008, 11:45 PM
Wow! There is so much life in all of your concepts.

04-13-2008, 01:45 PM
Geeba, chilombiano, renderwhite, nethken, Nantha, DaVee, Paul4wood
Thank you so much for your comments! And sorry for the lag of updates...
I hardly find time to work on my next idea...A little busy thesedays.

yeah...still not satisfied with the ideas so far...have to find something stronger.

plz...not the smurfs...

Thnx for your input! I'll do my best to find a good concept to work on.

cool cool looking forward to your ideas.

Thnx man and I totally agree with you. I'm workin on it :)

Thnx man! hehe I'd love to but never know...

04-13-2008, 04:21 PM

I wasn't going to enter this contest until I saw that you were, not just because I am a fan but because I wanted the chance to compete with you. I do not consider myself a painter by any means especially compared to you. That is why I am entering, it is your skill (amongst others) that I aspire to and hope to at least match. I hope that didn't come off sappy or what ever, I'm not very good at this I just wanted to be noticed in hopes of finally getting some feed back.

Good Luck
