off to the library tomorrow..wishing everyone the best of luck :)

03 March 2008, 06:06 PM
Hello, Marley!

Best of luck and a lot of fun to you!

03 March 2008, 07:45 AM (

very cool stories that i have read so far..have to rely on the snippets on davids website as our local library is due to close and relocate..i would be able to 'interloan' the book but would not get it until mid april..and im sorry but i can't wait that long :P..

ok really like the idea of sundiving..unfortunately reading up on why the sun was haunted kinda spoiled it all :D haha..but this is what interested me

"Solarians - Species living in the Earth's sun. Large donut shaped colorful beings. Used by the Soro clan in Sundiver to try and discredit Earthclan. Jacob Demwa helped defeat this plan by exposing the Pring's special abilities."

ok so i also read somewhere that the pring were trying to hide an ability, i thinkl it was holographic ability? unsure but somehow i latched onto this
(If i'm off its because i am extrapolating from different tidbits).

This series of an image is basically truths revealed via special technique..Culla and jacob, with a soro clan memeber.(im sure he has a name) in the back.

the image is not entirely reality but an image brought up as if in a holodeck from trek..thats how i am intepreting so far!.

NOT A FINAL BY ANY MEANS, there is still alot of material to sift incredible amount.

other thing that took my fancy was the giant spacehip yard (moonsized, how awesome :P.)

anyways enough of my ramblings

03 March 2008, 08:59 AM
Good luck Marley, I think this challenge was made for you!

03 March 2008, 11:45 AM
Hey Marley, great to see you in this one! Good luck mate!

03 March 2008, 11:54 AM (

Still trying to flush the donuts out actuality, it has stronger lines but fails to communicate anything between human and alien, (exception of alien and sentient being "donut")..

in anycase, i'm happy illustratin, thats gotta be good..

(looks kinda nice flipped round 90degrees aswell.)

Tiziano, Bill, Mark..Awesome to have you here, thanks for the support (nice to know i got mates  )

Take care

03 March 2008, 06:19 PM

How are you man? It's been a while. Nice consepts. It will be an enjoyable experience to see your progress untill the final stage. Looking forward to see what you will end up with. You always have beautiful use of colors. The best of luck man.

03 March 2008, 10:28 PM
Hello my friend :D

great to see ya!, hope you are thinking of entering aswell, that'd be very good!..well ive been fine..not too active artistically, with the exception of my NVart entries, been quiet.

Have good news, that i was able to score 'Startide Rising' and 'Uplift Wars' down at the local saturday markets, Bloody brilliant..can't wait to sink my teeth into these novels.

So prolly no concepts for a while yet.(no rush :) )

03 March 2008, 11:41 PM (

a re hash of the previous concept, morphed into a dream sequence toshio had in "startide rising".

Likable, but i find i have done many similar compositions so likely not to go down this road

03 March 2008, 10:25 AM (

Having read that one does not have to be entirely faithful to the book i went back to the drawing book (pad in my case) and scribbled some circles together (a favourite past time) Up top is the mess and down below is line art i scavenged from the mess on a separate layer...

03 March 2008, 10:28 AM (

some work down the line, enjoying it, which is all good

03 March 2008, 11:07 AM
You've been busy and I like what you're doing. The composition of that last one has some interesting parts to it. I love the way you've done those donut guys too. Great stuff, Marley

03 March 2008, 11:14 AM
Interesting visions, i am keeping an eye for that

03 March 2008, 11:46 AM
hey thank you both very much, its great to get feed back on the matter.

Glad you like my donuts mark, well i 'll finish this piece and see what we get then start up on some more donuts, im pretty sure there will be ample time..Thank you

thats a great compliment..Appreciate people finding interest in my visions..

Thank you aswell

03 March 2008, 11:51 AM
Nice start, Marley, I'm particularly liking posts #7 and #10 - #7 for the impression of scale and #10 for the atmosphere. If I had to choose I'd go for #10 so far but as you say, plenty of time! Look forward to seeing more

03 March 2008, 12:40 PM (

just a little more down the track, accept i was suddenly reminded of one of my favourite novels.."Hothouse" by Brian Adliss..That book has engaged my imagination like no other...anyways, reference to one of the skyscraper trees that had human tribes attached by a vine from the head to the top of this really giant of a tree (i think it stood a mile high)One of the lil blokes kept was really anycase, thats it for the night..nearly 2am here

03 March 2008, 12:54 PM
Dam it takes ages to comment, i dislike having to wait for all images to load b4 getting a word in :P.

Hey simon, cheers for visiting..i see why you like the images and thank you for explaining your reasons.

For post #10 i just felt a good sense of been there done that..Not only by me, but by probably 90% of all budding sci-fi artists, or Jim Burns fans..Yea i need to feel that i am treading new ground these days, if only to just keep my interest..Im really liking where i'm of to with "Upscend" now :)..

hey thanks for dropping by, Simon, appreciated

03 March 2008, 10:39 AM (

hmm, getting it sorted, actually remarkably therapeutic..EON was stress all the way, here i'm as happy as Larry the cable guy!

03 March 2008, 01:19 PM (

Really happy, kinda zonked, 2.18am here, (twice in a row, long time since i've done that)..

good morning to all who visits :)

03 March 2008, 01:47 AM (

worked a little more, plus have decided to play around with colour..

I was worried that some of the colours were going to be flat..a natural side effect of multiplying colours but that seemed minimal even at this early stage, so colouring in general I should not think will be an issue..thank gosh

03 March 2008, 02:20 AM
Wonderful progress. I like the sense of scale and alien look about the scene. The fibrous look about the large figures is both intriguing and believable. I notice the composition is very much more concentrated on the right side of the frame than the left (I keep wanting to pan the 'camera' to the right a little bit) but as this is only an early WIP then I'm guessing that subtleties like that have plenty of time to be sorted out.

Excellent updates

03 March 2008, 02:27 AM
hey marley, i really like your linework. good luck mate

03 March 2008, 03:13 AM (

Not final colours by any means but having a heap of fun, lead to some interesting results for sure..Perhaps a little to much dancing colours pulling the eye out of the central focus..

in any case, getting there and thats the main thing

03 March 2008, 03:27 AM
Holy hell, COMMENTS :O hehehehe

MARK yea i know what you mean, maybe a canvas extension may be in order here, well see. I did play with more colours and seems to have expanded the eyes journey left a little more.

Glad you liek my work, Thank you, its a relief to hear feedback :)

Awesome, glad you appreciate my linework, mate..its fairly ambiguos in the early stages and leaves its interpretation wide open..Thats my favourite way to work, being non focused.

Thank you

Mark and Markus...:scream:

03 March 2008, 03:39 AM
Hello Marley. Very Ethereal work you have going on. Your work reminds me of a tonalist painter. All mood and lighting. Very unique style. Can't wait to see more.

03 March 2008, 06:58 AM
i really like your sketching style!
awesome the concepts too!

best of luck

03 March 2008, 08:16 AM (

have kept David's suggestion critique in mind and have given more space to the right from the left...looks good..

this is possibly the most pleasurable experience in digi painting i have had in long memory

03 March 2008, 08:24 AM
Sorry mark I called you David, that was stupid, im sorry!

Brad and Simon so cool of you guys to drop in and comment, it sis very much appreciated.

Take care

03 March 2008, 09:25 AM
your concepts are looking great mate! Your sense of scale and composition are superb. And i like the lighting etc also. Best of luck to you :D

03 March 2008, 10:13 AM
oh beautiful colors as usual from you Marley :)

03 March 2008, 11:32 AM
Hehe... I thought I recognized your color scheme ^^. Nice composition as always. Looking forward to it. The designs are really cool, especially that big structure. (wait... is it a structure or giant alien?) ^^

Thanks for your suggestion on my thread! ^^

03 March 2008, 10:28 PM
This is coming along well! I have a slight problem with the composition but that might clear up as your work progresses.

At the moment I'm having trouble identifying the focus of the piece, and also the left-hand side seems empty and may benefit from being cropped just to the left of the left-most human.

Looking good though, I'll be keeping an eye on it! :)

03 March 2008, 01:31 AM
Well cool and really stylish already, Marley. Progress should be fascinating to watch.

03 March 2008, 10:33 AM (

Thanks for the comments and critiques everyone. greatly appreciated..

Have dropped some photographic texture into the mix and came up with an interesting result..

Threw in a Harrier Hawk too. only because we had one land on our front lawn today (apparently a rare treat) and became inspired :)

Good night!

03 March 2008, 11:49 AM (

Just a little experiment here..i couldn't find the right colour for the planet..or wether i was going to keep various items..(hawk, central structure, etc)

yup i know what you mean about narrative, i just seem to be slinging what ever comes my way..unfortunately i seem to be enjoying it :P..I'm not worried where i end up, just darned pleased to be back in the illustrators seat.

Cheers mate, your crits are locked and loaded

03 March 2008, 03:00 PM
Wow! this is a cool start  this colour scheme and characters are verry interesting.I`m looking forward for more art from you :bounce:

03 March 2008, 03:15 PM
sorry double post

03 March 2008, 08:00 PM
Dood - Great work as usual...missed you in DWIII...

03 March 2008, 12:38 AM

Hey awesome of you to visit, i've seen your name around for sometime..maybe you were in EON?

Really nice of you to come and visit, i totally appreciate the kind words :)

hehe, yea, sorry bout the DWIII issue..I have infact done alot of work on my character, but i hit a brick wall with my health..DOING THIS PIECE has been amazingly therapeutic..Emotionally, this is my best piece in a long time, and i'd just done the NVidia competition, and they don't hold a candle to whats being done here....I suppose all i learnt from the hard work from those pieces, have helped me here.

Thanks for dropping by, Paul

Good luck to you too!

03 March 2008, 03:34 PM
Sweet image, you have really captured the alien atmosphere very well! Great misty palette.

Matt :)

03 March 2008, 03:10 AM (

driving it all home now..still undecided as to how the right hand side should be dealt with. but moving mr green over that area opened up a hole in the middle of the image, so that was no solution. (i realize he is a bit wooden)..

Have learnt a lesson or three..all you can ask for :D

03 March 2008, 10:54 AM (

Just a wee bit more work done on the colouring at ground level..adjusted left arm on tall creature..Pushing on :)

03 March 2008, 11:00 AM
MBENYA hi matt, im sorry completly skipped your comment altogether..just a quick thanks for dropping by :D.

03 March 2008, 12:14 PM (

wow, was sitting staring at my image (as one does) and saw an opportunity for a bridge to be illustrated right were the mid structure is..i think it interesting to see what you all think?. carry on this way?.

cool beans and tomato, Batman

03 March 2008, 01:12 PM (

OK to see if i could go this way, i have spent sometime mucking in, so to speak..hummmm yea it could go this way

03 March 2008, 01:43 PM
gorgeous colors ^^
I think it's better if the main focus is on the right. Human eyes tend to lean more to the right.(Reason why in web/magazine most text/menu are on the left ^^)

03 March 2008, 02:57 PM
Wow! You are a master of light! (and very cool artwork! :) ) Your work shows off a very grand and celestial relationship in the subjects, outstanding! The scale of the subjects and the top center focus of the light works brilliantly. Great job at showing a human-alien relationship. I'll certainly be watching your work !

03 March 2008, 08:35 PM
Wow Marley. The colors in this piece are truly amazing. And this only the beginning! I'll keep an eye on your progress.

03 March 2008, 12:11 AM
Ahh thank you 3 very much :D

Yea thanks, are you saying you preffer it to be flipped horizontally or are you liking the new direction?.

or C: both A and B :D hahaha

I have infact locked that into thought, Thanks very much mate

he scale of the subjects and the top center focus of the light works brilliantly.

THANK YOU i am glad you said that becaus ei was debating wether it should stay there at all..In anycase i found your art to posses a potentially beautiful light source aswell :P, thanks

Take care, Josh, best of luck to you too!

Cheers very much for the flattering Praise but i'd hasten to add i consider myself to be 75 percent done, well around that mark anyway :P..So its only likely to be tidied up rather than anything drastic taking place..having said that considering what happened in my last post i wouldn't rule out anything more.

Hey cheers, pal :D

03 March 2008, 07:51 AM
awesome colours my friend! me especially love the alien design  i've said it before .. and i think its worth mentioning again ... your work so amazingly dreamy!
cheers to you!

03 March 2008, 09:46 AM
The more I look at your works, my friend, the more I'm convinced that your nick is perfect, you are a sovereign of lights.

03 March 2008, 10:12 AM (

hmmmmm, unsure..seems i am searching for that one piece in the puzzle to tie it all in..i've been sifting thru earlier developements and it seems i had it pretty good earlier anycase i have 3 months so i'm not exactly fretting :).

03 March 2008, 11:47 AM
Wow! This is looking great. The composition seems to be working heaps better now too. Really cool updates buddy. I love your use of colour

03 March 2008, 12:08 PM
Looking good, you're developing a convincing other-worldly feel. The main alien's left arm bothers me a bit, it seems to be twisted in a strange manner; perhaps you need to look at that?

03 March 2008, 09:27 PM
This is really coming along mate, especially with that ethereal palette of yours. I knew this challenge was definately up your street :)

03 March 2008, 09:33 PM
Ah, I really like the bright colors here. You pull them off well. I wanna know the story here, since I've never read the books.

03 March 2008, 09:58 PM

G'day, thanks for visiting my thread..well actually its not entirely accurate to the novel, once i read that the book can be used as inspiration only i took a new direction of my own..I used a technique i fall upon if i am not feeling any can see it earlier on in my thread..
I'm trying to get a mythological feel into my piece where over the hundreds of generations of uplifted creature, there was one constant star..I wanted to somehow leave an icon to represent that these beings were uplifted by humans many thousands of years in the furture...but as this piece has developed its not fitting as strongly (in the earlier stages i had work of A Dolphin a Human and a Chimp carved in stone riight were the cloud under the eagle is have a look of my post made on the 29th..

right now like most my pieces, i shall wait and see and keep formulating.

Yea, thanks for the vote of confidence, bill..To be honest i wasn't feeling any of my earlier concepts, so when i checked the FAQs and saw you needn't have read the book..the gate swung a little :D

thanks very much, Bill

Hmm, yea its not something i am seeing instantly there, or obviously i would have have treated teh symptom, but i shall whip out my loomis and see what can be done :) one could also say his legs are a tad short..(even if they are a dirty liquid.

thanks so much for the crit, Simon..i'm glad your piece has hit the skies nicely :D

Awesome, i am glad you think so, david..because as it was going on i @ some points was thinking this is too jumbled, thankfully the different tonal range has allieviated alot of the issues!

That is a great compliment, Tiz..thank you.. I remember when i first set up the name that it sounded kinda preachy, but i have come to really appreciate it, because lighting has become one of my favourite aspects of producing any artwork..and hey if one can bring light into anyones life in some way, such as even looking at a piece of artwork, that has got to be a positive..I like to make people feel transported to a nice place these days

cheers very much..

eeeeh neville, always a pleasure to see you here, dreamy is all good, but i think its becuase of my love of light that makes it especially dreamy...might be my wierd compositions that i like doing aswell...

thanks for dropping by neville, appreciated :).

Thanks all again, for visiting

03 March 2008, 11:59 PM (

Further down the line, tidied up a lot still trying to sort out the central lighting.

Thanks everyone

04 April 2008, 04:59 AM
fantastic colors! very dream like, this is an inspiring peice!

04 April 2008, 11:17 AM
thank you very much for the kind words, holly :).

thank you for visiting

04 April 2008, 11:59 AM (

99.9 percent complete.

I'll spend sometime conjuring a story perhaps

and i may aswell call it final image, because i only plan a little work for the little characters, and thats it.

Spiritually fantastic journey, i learnt heaps, in technique and puzzle solving..

on an interaction level, i believe I found 'EON' more satisfying..MIND YOU i did join in the last half of the comp and the wheels were well and truly in motion!. and of course that means more people out and about :D..

in anycase

wishing all the best of luck for finishing!

04 April 2008, 02:08 AM (

DONE, im done..all good.

The gist of it all..The light structure in the middle is representative of the Original Alien species that started it all (Progenators)..

And how they have cast a long Light (or shadow) across the many generations of Aliens. Their Knowledge, the very basis of many species existence....

Now the human aspect is not entirely accurate to the novels..The relation of humans (or human like) here was inspired by Brian Aldiss's "HotHouse" my most enjoyed reading experience i have ever had!!.

A reference to the very tall trees with human tribes attached to them

In essence there is a psychic attachment from the little figures to the main Alien..

more of a 'mythological' approach to the illustration, than actual depiction

And that was my mode of thinking when illustrating this.

Take care everyone

04 April 2008, 02:29 AM
Wow! Finished already! That's amazing. Well done! I love the dreamy feel about this illustration - it's like a structure made of pure light and energy. Congratulations buddy, and good luck

04 April 2008, 02:47 AM
Beautiful colors, very nice work.

04 April 2008, 05:22 AM
Nice colors and design Marley. It sucks that I an just now visiting your thread now(I think). i still do think that you can further push values to make this image pop even more. I've seen your previous works and this is your comfort zone, and I think I'm fine with that. I amazed with your handle of colors the most though.

04 April 2008, 08:38 AM
man u work fast!

the light and colour is as usual unique and fantastic...i'm not so hot on terms and theory but what would it look like with a bit more contrast (if that is the right term)?

04 April 2008, 10:19 AM (

Thanks to Beelow and Paul, i opened the file up and played around with different adjustment layers. Such as contrast, levels, saturation, curves etc.

It has made the colours more natural..a semms to have swallowed the middle up a little so will have to do more work..but in no way is this an issue with 41 days to go :P.

04 April 2008, 12:15 PM
the newest version with the layers tweaked looks the best by far...the colors are much better

04 April 2008, 02:37 PM
Amazing colours and lighting! I think the design is great as well, the space has an epic feel to it, an alien landscape that is beyond the understanding of humans.

04 April 2008, 02:52 PM
Be proud Marley! You've come up with a unique and dreamy piece. One of a kind

04 April 2008, 03:26 PM
great! loved the colors!! really impressive!

04 April 2008, 10:29 PM
Wow, a heap of comments, thank you so much everyone..its good timing to finish now becuase i feel a crook as a a cooked badger..

:D many thanks my friend, a pleasure painting and recieving the feedback from you..your crit on the composition help set this in the right direction..thank yu so much for your input, appreciated..I'll be hovering around your entry, its looking smashing :).

ACE mate thank you so much for dropping by and commenting.. :)

Hey the fact hat you visited anyways is appreciated..its really very early days so you would not ordinarily expect someone to be finished..unless your renowned for it and your name starts with "baron" hehe..hey your crit was valuable, you are right that my art seems to be undercooked in the contrast department..I completely forgot about post work with adjustment layers and such, so took your advice seriously..

Thanks for very dropping by..and leaving a pretty useful and complimentary comment

PAUL, spot on the money!!..yea its something that beelow picked up on aswell, and have since done adjustments which seem to work for the better :D..thanks so much for the support!

I am so glad you think so, thank you for the feedback..certainly appreciated

Extremely Flattering Comment :D thank you so much..your description helps me because you never are quite sure what people will be seeing..

cheers mate and have a good day

:bounce: cheer mate, when i was doing the concepts earlier on, i could not help but think i was treading old ground..I am not worried about winning, i was more concerned about producing something that people weren't quite so familiar with, and giving people a unique in my mind, with all the comments i 've been getting it seems my mission was a success.

cheers and good luck with your beautiful entry also!!.

I am really pleased, you got enjoyment out of the piece, thank you for taking the time to let me know!!.

Thanks once again to everyone, i shal now lie down and rest:sad:..

take care and best of luck to all.

04 April 2008, 10:44 PM
Great image, so full of color and light. I haven't really begun my own yet, very, kick in the pants, get to work, motivation on your part to be done soo early.

04 April 2008, 08:13 PM
haha, that cracks me up :P..glad i am inadvertantly inspirational..

thank you for dropping by, hammajamma

04 April 2008, 09:26 PM
This is absolutely gorgeous! I liked all your concepts too. Lovely colours!

04 April 2008, 01:22 AM
Its really nice! good palete !
just as a comment i find maybe too many interest point .. maybe thats not bad at all. i have the same issue with mine. just trying to not get lost in many elements.

04 April 2008, 01:35 AM
Final Image? Wow that fast, very nice art:thumbsup:, nice color too:thumbsup:.
Best of luck to you:)

04 April 2008, 12:35 AM
Andy, totally appreciated mate. thank you very much..yea the colors for the concepts struck me with how rich they were..after staring at this piece for ages :).

Spot on observation..yes it was something that was bothering me..i notice especially around the green planet area..i've since dowsed that area in a blue hue and it seems to smooth that area alot. but still lots of competition..In anycase i still feel i've achieved what i was after with this piece....

I may still complete another illustration..we've got a rediculous amount of time left still, so who knows :).

JoPu, heh, thanks but completing in short time does not necessarily equal the best..wish it did, but doesn't, I may come back and start another more accurate illustration sometime in the future.

Thanks very much you 3

04 April 2008, 07:19 AM
You allready finished? Congratulations man! I just remembered that I wanted to leave a message here and now it's all over lol... Very cool image!

Good luck and all the best!

04 April 2008, 08:45 AM
nice work boss, the colors have me mesmerized.

04 April 2008, 12:39 PM
Great pic, as I've said, it really gets across the alien-ness of your environment and beings. But you call that fast? - pfff! ;):D Best of luck with the judging and make sure you let me know if you do another!

04 April 2008, 01:31 PM
Wow this is great, being able to see all the conceptual stages that you went through to get there. You have put alot of work into this and it really shows in the final image. Great stuff Marley, and I wish you the best of luck with the CG challenge! :D

04 April 2008, 10:49 AM
Man your finished? :) I really like the color scheme that you have for the image + all of the details you packed in. It is a great image, congratulations!

Matt :)

04 April 2008, 01:07 AM
holy cow!! wish i could finish my work like you  as i mentioned before .. your work is always dreamy and colourful! this certainly fits the bill man, congratulations are in order! all the best for the judging! cheers bro!

04 April 2008, 01:30 PM
Now that you're all done mate all that's left is to wish you the best of luck! :)

04 April 2008, 01:56 PM
Final image?! I'm just getting started and you're already leaving? Darn, we missed each other! :D Anyhow, great work, and a very "you" piece, which always fits classic sci-fi really well... maybe because your work often reminds me of the classic science fiction cover artist Richard Powers. His stuff tended towards more surreal and interpretive than yours, but I always get a similar vibe. Anyhow, congrats for being done and nice work!

04 April 2008, 04:03 AM

Thank you very much mate,. actually i'm kinda bummed being finished, its as if i am missing out on all the fun, in anycase appreciate your visit

Thank you

hello mate, yep all done, I do remember thinking i have got to get the colours bright as pixie, with a lot of light..Because i'd seen alot of dark images in Dominance War and it was becoming a cliche..So all had to be positive, no negativity at all.

Thanks mate

Simon, HAH Pardon?, am i to understand you are calling yourself fast..pffft!!..DRAW...wait a minute..
Thankies mate. I appreciate the note of the alien ambience..

Thanks for the well wishes..Yea i can appreciate the process of creation in anyart..always looking for that one key that has the answer for art i thank you very much for teh comment.

good on ya, Carl

:D, cheers very much, yep i'm finished but kinda feel out of all the fun..Im really enjoying the different results that are coming up..REALLY looking forward to seeing yours completed.

take care

Always a pleasure having you visit, Neville, it really is.

"wish i could finish my work like you"

are you indoubt of finishing?, i hope not..your EON entry had such a unique ambience..don't deprive us of your vision..:argh:

BILL, my friend your strong support is really appreciated, especially on other sites..

Cheers my friend and again thanks for the well wishes :D

ahh mike, it would not be a cgchallenge without walrus..Yea..its weird, i feel i may have cheated myself somehow by whipping this in before everyone has taken their 3rd breath..I really felt a piece should be a challenge all the way..I picked up on the rhythm of this concept right from the first scribbles....and then i was finished..It really did do everything i wanted..I'm trying to decipher whether i have pushed myself enough or should i have aimed higher to take myself out of my comfort zone?..But then all i wanted was something different..perhaps if i wanted something challenging i should have put the thought out early...yea, a weird quandary of thought i've got going.

Anyways, thank you for leaving your thoughtful comments, Mike

04 April 2008, 05:29 AM
Wow, what great use of color. It's beautiful.

04 April 2008, 01:02 AM
Oh letme confess I had to copy your last post and paste it on Phpotoshop (sorry for that) just to see how much of the colors were printable, and It barely changed when I turned it into CYMK oh boy!......
Great colors, I guess the non-jpg version looks better yet. It was great to see the steps.

Very well done!:applause:

A job well done my friend! I wish I had the confidence you have with color. Very bold and positive piece. Congrats!

hehe, thank you, im glad you stopped by to comment..Thanks

No worries mate, that sounds ultra cool. Its amazing, generally i have to keep an eye out on my colour usage in Photoshop using the "Gammut" tool. or ctrl+y (or it could be shft+ctrl+y).. and its been one of the rarest occasions where i have had virtually no correction issues or those darned grey pixel areas..and i really pushed these colours..It really did just slot into place..No worries.thats prolly one of the most unique compliments i've received :P hahaha....perhaps dropping colour onto greyscaled images is the safest way to go?.

N.E ways, thank you for taking the time to comment..(and play round with it:P )

Hey thanks very much, mate. Well yea i guess i don't really hold back in that department..I don't exactly follow the rules with colours i just drop em in and hope to get lucky..Thats easily done in digital, for sure :D.

Take cre mate

Congratulations! This is such a wonderful piece! I have read your notes on the final image, you succeeded definitely in using visual language to express your thoughts and the concept behind this painting! Thumbs up! :)

This has a great pencil colour feel, with visual ballet of light and colours. But try to bring out some contrast to help guide our eyes. I suggest darkening the foreground elements that gradually dissolved into the bright beyond. Also, the human figure (which I think is a human) is too obscured there. How about adding a human behind the alien 'priest' as a guest of honor of this majestic extra terrestial place?

04 April 2008, 09:48 PM
Hey. :wavey: Nice stuff from you again :) I agree with trying with more contrast.

04 April 2008, 09:50 PM

Hi Marley!:)

Hi everyone, this is the version i ended up uploading last week..i uped the contrast slightly..I think its better..hard to tell on the desktop but it looked good in photoshop..

feedback from those who have instilled the old version in mind would be welcome :)

PS) also reduced the originals pixels by final file went from 24mbs down to 18.5..a bit easier on me 56k. (4000px wide down to approx 3600)

i would upgrade to cable but unfortunately A) tis expensive B)the entire network is in can't get broadband unless someone gives it up..then your in..

i love small towns.

HI REMKO :applause:

ahh, great to see a familiar name floatin around..Thanks for the compliments..well i can say i guess i was lucky growing up in a small town in new zealand and not really having net exposure untill the ripe ol age of 22..The NET has really opened my eyes..i could not get over how out of touch i felt with regards to whats seen on photoshop..But on the other hand i had time to have developed somewhat of a universe before slightly commercialising myself :).

Thanks Remko

great to see ya.
