View Full Version : mentalray quality on nurbs surfaces

Im working with mentalRay Renderer for 3-4 months
everytime I get good render outputs with working polygonal scenes.
now Im working with nurbs style.
but cant get good render outputs as maya's.
here is my question. is mentalray optimized for simulate polygonals to nurbs look like ?
here is 2 screenshot that I found best qualitiy for both renderers...
what is the settings to get good nurbs tesselation outputs in mentalray as maya's product quality.
I think all I did. but cant find.
got any experience on this issue ?

check the override section in the mr globals and create a surface approximation override-

I already did before. but couldnt get and good result as maya's render.:shrug:

looks like mental ray renders with a flat shader while maya renderes with gouraud (i thingk that is how it is spelled).
