View Full Version : A problem with spine rig in "art of 3d toons"

I have a very irytate problem with rigging a spine from a cgtool kit dvd "art of 3d toons". I read a *.pfd but I don't know what I do wrong, maybe that guys have mistakens in that tutorial. I have problem withs that joints (that four joint will be path attached to the guide curve) on the guide curve. I do constrain aim for the joints to the previous joint. But the problem is, when I move a control for the joint I have a fliping or funy rotation. Tell me for what is that duplicate curve? and the locators on them? that will be a obiect up in aim constrain in joints on guide curve? That last upper joint don't have aim, but if i move a control I have strange rotation.
Please help me I be very frustrate

Maybe you have turn on maintain offset for the aim constraint option....!

Yeah the maintain offset is turn on, it should be off?

first of all check Gaston rig to see if you are doing something different as explained in the book, second I checked your scene file and there is something wrong in it,
Try do to the process again from the beginning (reset your tools setting first).
I attached an example scene with just a simple
scene with a spine, like the one in the book, I hope it will help.
(sorry but I had no time to rename all the scene's nodes correctly)

Also, I am not sure but if you have used an advance twist for ik, you should again go through the inputs for world up type, up axis, up vectors and so on matches your scene setup and joint orientation...

Hey I looked at your setup and found out that it is not well organised and understandable...Also I couldn't figure out what the problem is....but I think that you should check out the inputs for world up object, aim vectors and up vectors properly match your scene setup, Try shuffling the values for each axis.....
