View Full Version : Evening at a distant beach

The concept of the picture comments the duality between contrast and harmony in regard to architecture and landscape.
On one hand the architecture on the left contrasts the surrounding landscape in color and texture and on the other hand the architecture's shape and placement somehow harmonises with nature.
Maybe the water has formed the architecture, maybe the architecture is submerged in water at night. And maybe the creators inside the shells are waiting for the flush of the evening water..

Nice foam on the waves, and glare from the sun on the water in the background. I also really liked the motion blur on the wings of the birds in flight. Nice concept, nice render. What program(s) did you use?

serene, calm and peaceful ...
quite a minimalist approach that is unique to all in the collection.
but also refreshingly easy on the eyes.
makes me want for more ...
keep feeding us with your imagined worlds!

this piece is good artistically and i would say that some details could be added to the structure,,perhaps you could place some space frames maybe, just to give emphasis on its grand architecture...

the colors you'put into the image are really great ! serenity feeling

solid concept---great rendering---very very nice work. I would take the level of erosion/dirt/time/evolution up a notch where the water meets the "pods". they are dirty in your render...but imagine with shifting sand, water, etc etc etc...you could really dirty it up a bit...great job!

The picture is made in photoshop mainly. Only the architectural forms/shells to the left is rendered in 3dmax with vray using HDR lighting and reflection.
Basicaly the image is a composition of many of my personal photos from a vacation in Australia. A little matte paiting here and there to ad detail, and a lot of cloning. My main issue was to maintain a feel of scale without any people/creatures. It`ll spoile some of the peace and wondering about whom might live in/created the shells.
I also used different pictures to compose the right feeling of the flushing water and the softness of the sky.
I made quite a bit color adjustment with various selections af the pictures as well. I wanted to create both a harmonic and an interesting lighting feeling. It took a while to satisfy me with the colors!
Finaly a added the flying birds. Makes me feel the vind and adds a sound to the picture. Birdscreams or flickering wings!

I'm really a fan of this image. Probably my favorite in this competition so far. I think your point about contrast and harmony is really interesting. Hope to see more from you. 5*

Very nice entry. Nice atmosphere. Your right about the sound fx... perphaps you could make a flash file - import this image and combine with the sound of the sea and some seagulls. That would be interesting! Congrats.

Yes! Looking at the left i can see the maracaipe beach here in Brazil, we have a lot of marines like that. Very good work.
