I was sketching and looking for inspiration for a few days. I was wondering if I can find some interesting design for this challenge. Because I canít produce anything original IMO, Iíve decide to try different approach to this subject. Iíve took one of my starting base mesh and Iíve start to play with it. After this weekend I know more or less what Iím planning to do. Because war will end in April and we all have some time left Iíve decided to make design from scratch in 3d and to add some layers to it later on. So first I want to create a body of guy who was so passionate about fire magic that he changed himself in to some kind of very powerful fire elemental (I will try to make him more organic less
lava like). Then I will create some scaffolding for his tormented and fatigue body. And at the stage three I will finally make some armor parts and powerful artifact for him.
So because of lack of my 2d skills and because I really don't have completed vision for this character for now (ehmm if I must be honest I have lots of them but they are all fantasy, warriors and dragons related and I really donít want to create magic knight :) ) I will present some paint overs soon but first I show his body in 3d. This definitively will be longer way but on the other hand creation budget is not so next-gen so it will need to be planed reasonably and my layered approach will help me to fake some detail and form very well, I think :D.
About artifact. I plan to make or whip or sickle or crossbow or......:shrug:. Time will show. Soon I will also add some story behind Doitzel.

First one. This head is still WIP but it shows which direction I want to chose in a matter of his anatomy. I'm working on other parts of his body and soon I will show more screens and some WIPs. I just need to finish one part of his anatomy and just grab direction for rest parts.

That's some mad detailing but I almost feel like there's too much of the same details on his head. It gets too busy to look at in some way. I hope I'm not offending you, just trying to help.

Hi! You have a nice concept there! The head looks like the "V" from the movie V for Vendetta, when he appears in the building after the explosion. Hope you do a great model!

Izuael- Hi. No problem-in fact I'm quite happy that it takes some work for viewer to figure out what happened with him :twisted:. Personally I prefer heavily detailed design, and even if creating them is more time consuming , I really like to make them too. One thing that bothers me is that you don't see some randomization in pattern. I just want to show his body as a mixture of human wrinkles and fire. So I want to make his body with decent amount of custom details with some nice skin flow and differences on a surface (it will be subtle but at the end, I hope, powerful). I will try to make this details more obvious even that I will add 2 time more details for this head :D. I also want to make some fire glows from some of his wrinkles to make feeling that he glows.
And I just need to say that his body will be first layer. Second will be scaffolding for his destroyed body and last one will be some armor parts.

Small update. Head on next subdivision lvl in zbrush and some fun with idea of a glowing fire from his wrinkles.

Haasch- hehe I must look for this moment in ďV for VendettaĒ movie. Maybe I will find some interesting references there. thx :)

geostick- yes, I will give him some armor/cloth. Idea here is to make his body look very fatigue and somehow shaped by fire (because he will be Invoker with fire specialty). When I will finish his body I will try to make his armor look somehow contrast to his anatomy (creepy look of his body vs elegant look of armor). I think, that this way I will make him look powerful and mysterious.

Wow thats looking good, the only thing is i think it to symmetrical at the moment especially in the face. Try thowing in a bit more variation with some stronger lines and scars.

I've just finished detailing the head. With nice glowing map and additional elements it will looks powerfull and mysteriously, I hope :)

MDR-I will add some elements to his entire body that will break symmetry. For head it will be spyglass or something similar to old lens. Thx for pointing this.

Another update. This time body- next levels of subdiv in Zbrush, and some very rough concepts on his armor. I will end his body in weekend and go for designing his supporting armor. Soon I will also prepare closeup screenshots of his body, because there will be lots of tiny details there :D.

i actually wince a little when i see it, so you're definitely hitting the mark with the disturbance factor!!

Thoug, i do agree that you may have too much repetition in certain areas, mainly the face, it might be worth smoothing off some areas down to bone, guide they eye a little bit!

Body:final shots - he is a fire elemental.
Soon I will also present idea and WIP of his artifact weapon Flame-Throw Sword :) and some updates on his armor.

First serious update of armor and artifact weapon. So this is flame thrower mixed with sword. I like this idea but it still need some work on design and overall.
I also show first finished part of his suit - shoe.
