View Full Version : DWIII - 2D - wiFLP - Ahaetan

02 February 2008, 06:28 PM
Here's my man:
Name: Ahaetan - comes from Ahaetulla(type of whip snake having keen binocular vision)
Race: Human, with snake genes
Class: Stalker
Artifact Weapon: Void - Revolvers
Pet: Plague Raven

Becaouse of his snake genes he possess the perfect stealth abilities.
His revolvers use void element so they doesn't make any noise, even the opposite, when he's shooting, the black hole generator consumes all the sounds near the place he is aiming, and the place he's standing. His snake eyes helps him shoot an enemy from a very long distance.

Plague Raven is a type of undead bird scout, cannot harm other creatures(i'm still thinking of other abilities than scouting).

the weapon:

the affix beneath helps Ahaetan manage close combat encounters.

Great sketch!
Keep it up.

02 February 2008, 09:23 PM
He's lookin' good. For fantasy drawings, I don't like guns but yours is an exception. It's a part of his charater and ties everything together. Keep it up:thumbsup:

02 February 2008, 06:53 PM
some sketches of a sneaking technique

02 February 2008, 06:55 PM
Haha, qko e stanalo brato!

02 February 2008, 08:23 PM
x) thanks

i'm still thinking about the outfit, and the gun design(maybe with larger hole).

02 February 2008, 10:25 PM
oh cool concept!!
I love the idea with the void gun! kind of like the Tesla:n death ray or the graviton beam emitter (aka graviton radiation projection) of Tsutomu Nihei's BLAME! manga :) (check it out! it has some great designs in your ball park apart from the similarity of gun type :) check pm!)
that blade stopper, could make it thicker (deeper along slash axis) since there's space? or I dunno :)
those are sci(fi) but the void gun seems perfectly magicpunk or something to me :)
would've been awesome to see the darkness leakage stemming from the gun rendered through a custom shader :) hope you can find something cool for that digging through allowed shaders.
work hard on perfecting the design, man. the concept is awesome! :) CGTalk FTW!
(btw, love the comical storyboarding!)

02 February 2008, 11:32 PM
i'm thinking of remaking the whole pistol not just the blade stopper, maybe something more similar to renesanse with soomther curves, and i'll need some work on the affix - really want to make him use some gun kata x)

02 February 2008, 12:24 AM
He'd be great for a capcom based game like Devil May Cry. Awesome work so far!

02 February 2008, 02:20 PM

02 February 2008, 08:09 PM
trying to shake up the shapes, some different ideas

02 February 2008, 01:29 AM
nice! :D like the right one a ton!
btw where should he keep his bullets? (are the bullets or gun or both main source of magic?)

02 February 2008, 01:42 AM
that sneaking sketch is awesome:thumbsup: though i think i like the design for the gaurd better than the initial character design. looking forward to this one

02 February 2008, 08:40 PM
nice! :D like the right one a ton!
btw where should he keep his bullets?

No bullets(for now) the cylinder creates black holes/void energy which are being shot by the trigger trough the muzzle.

02 February 2008, 01:09 PM
really nice and loose mate. very well drawn! :scream:

03 March 2008, 09:44 PM
i liked the Character  wish u all the best keep up the good work

03 March 2008, 11:26 PM
sweet work man. Like the fact that he's basically humanoid but still has so much invention. The void pistol rocks.

03 March 2008, 12:08 AM
Lovely stuff. I can see the bird being the defining element that sets this guy apart from the usual run n' gun game characters. On your last image posted the design on the right is the strongest certainly (good play with visiual proportions especially in the torso and legs), but I'm not really seeing the "spliced snake genes" you were describing before.

The Black Hole/Void energy concept is a good way to rationalize a stealth character that uses guns without silencers. To be honest, I wouldn't want to see you move too far away from the pistol design of the center figure in your last image post. I've always had a particular fondness for the orignal western/civil war era revolvers, and this is one of the few instances I've seen of an updated variation of the design that genuinely works.

03 March 2008, 08:40 PM
Thank you for the kind words. Misqosis, about the snake genese - visually the lack of ears explains that for now, the idea is not to look like snake but to have snake's abilities.

another one, maybe a with little bit more elegance

03 March 2008, 06:46 PM
Oha! Looks Cool! Че много талантливи хора стана в България. Твоя концепт е един от най хубавите!

03 March 2008, 08:33 PM
еха, похвала на роден език, поласкан съм.

03 March 2008, 02:31 PM
getting closer

03 March 2008, 04:19 PM
that guy have some attitude is a great concept and a great weapon

03 March 2008, 10:30 AM
This is very good star man!
I like this your style and evaluation of the character

Good luck:)

03 March 2008, 02:24 PM
the winning entry will be something like this, i think x)

03 March 2008, 02:50 PM
with this guns he do not need any kung fu skills to survive.. :applause:

03 March 2008, 05:39 PM
great explorations going on in here! :) He's got some cool attidude.
Gun kata as in Equilibrium? Ha, that would be fun! :)

03 March 2008, 11:18 PM
hideyoshi, first i have to tell you that i'm a big fan of your works! And about the gun kata - yeah something like in "Equilibrium" but with elements from fencing, because he'll use not only his hands to evade the enemy atacks but the slice stopper(the affix beneath the cilinder next to the trigger) too.

03 March 2008, 08:46 PM
catching some behavior here

03 March 2008, 08:48 AM
Your drawings are very elegant and i'm very jealous! :P :scream:
I must say I imagined his armour to be more cream coloured, perhaps a kind of porcelain, or super hard leather, and maybe without the chest plate.
Whats next?

03 March 2008, 09:06 AM
I'm loving the sense of character your bringing out, keep it up!

03 March 2008, 05:56 PM
wow awesome stuff! :)
perhaps you should try a more dynamic 'in the action' view and composition of the painting though?

03 March 2008, 10:05 PM
to nathanmackenna - i'm still thinking on the color and the material of the armour, but the chest plate will be there.
to Lockwyn - thanks man i will x)

to erik_j - you're right, d*amn, that means it'll be harder(the walking pose took me 2-3 hours). Thanks again x)

03 March 2008, 05:24 PM
For me, the best gunslinger till now. Nice job!

My Dominance War III

04 April 2008, 08:52 PM

04 April 2008, 06:21 PM
Thanks man i appreciate the support, and i'm really sorry to hear that u wont be submitting, u should really consider what Miqosis said - if there's not ednough time for 3d submit in 2d, it's a solid character either way.
