View Full Version : DWIII - 3D - Rart - Eva
02 February 2008, 04:32 AM
Hey guys, wish lucky for all of ya, I´ll push myself to the hardest level and will finish this!
Race: Nature Dryad
Artifact Weapon: 'Divine Vine Whips' crossing all her body, with the power of vegetation.
The Nature Dryads are a very ancient race, they were present since the beginning of time, the creation of the worlds. They are called, "The Daughters of Mother Nature".
They protect and defend all the beings that Nature have created, animals, plants, trees and rivers, the skies and ground, everything.
Eva is the queen of the 'Leaf' Clan, leading the nature dryads to a war wich they must win, for the good of all beings on all worlds, they must gather power with all the good warriors and races that want to defend the planet, destroy the enemys, and try to put an end on the stranges creatures that are appearing from nowhere.
Eva is a stalker, she can run like wind, make herself invisible in the middle of the forest, and she can use the main power of nature, the vegetation.
"Divine vine whips" are her main artifact weapon, the vine cross all her body creating a sort of armor for her, very strong and light. She has a powerfull whip made of vine with poisoned spikes that can inflict a lot of damage. She can do some serious damage with strong and fast attacks, using both hands and the "hair" as a whip weapon too. On her back, trunks and spikes coming out, for her defense against back atacks. Shes a very strong and fast warrior.
hope you likt it, I´m totally open for crits and suggestions.

I've noticed that characters with organic powers or attributes tend to get lost in it. Maybe if you open her pose a little. Perhaps spread the arms and legs with the arms out stretched, it may help the character stand out more.
Lots of detail though. Looks good.
02 February 2008, 06:15 PM
thank you innactpro, I´m already doing some ajustments on some proportions and doing some other weapon concepts, I´ll post asap..
02 February 2008, 04:04 PM
Hi there man, god to see you here!!!
Our ideas are very similar, but my character is a man.
Nice sketch too, i'll try to make something different.
02 February 2008, 01:43 AM

02 February 2008, 02:16 AM
Thank you rodrigo, I´ll be watching your thread as well.
02 February 2008, 11:49 PM
nice concept bud.
I can't wait to see more.
02 February 2008, 09:59 PM
Hi, the concept is good, maybe you can do more vegetation and less human, like in the hands. Good luck and let's make cgsociety the best.
02 February 2008, 10:36 PM
The concept is pretty good. Any updates, please?
02 February 2008, 02:26 PM
Pretty mean concept, mate! Pretty mean!
02 February 2008, 04:34 PM
awesome concept man, i'm looking forward to see your char!!
03 March 2008, 06:11 AM
Nice concept! Really wanna see the ending of this piece! ;)
03 March 2008, 02:18 PM
Hey man! It´s war!! Let´s kill´em all, hahahaha! Hooah!!
03 March 2008, 05:21 AM
Here are some minor changes on the concept, also I need some help
I really dont know about that crown thing on her back, I did some sketches inside zbrush and I got a nice result, but itll be very complicated to translate it to a lowpoly mesh, like i could use only 3k or 4k maximum to do that, and so far this entire piece has 7k, so i dont know what to do with it,
1- I could just drop that out, and leave Eva without that crown, i dont see that as a problem , she looks nice without it too
2 - Could add some spikes on her back to try to fill the space of the crown, I dont know but its a good idea,
well if some of you guys have suggestion, will be very welcome... I shall try to optimiza the 'crown' thing to its lowest level of polys...
in meantime I leave here some screenshoot, I already start the basemesh of the body...
well next update Ill bring some zbrush stuff, cya

03 March 2008, 11:53 AM
Man, take a look on the DW rules. Models can be up to 9k. I believe you can make her with crown and everything else inside this limit. But I like the idea of branches coming out of her back, as if she was a moving tree. I believe they look more appealing and dangerous than the crown. Try to make a new sketch for this idea. Sketch inside Zbrush, to give us a better 3d idea of how this idea develops.
Still waiting for updates!!! Give us some 3d!
03 March 2008, 09:34 PM
OK just finished with the lowpoly mesh, about 3.5k tris, Ill use 3k for the head, and the rest for her weapon and details,
suggestion and critics are much appreciated!

03 March 2008, 08:52 PM
Nice start, buddy. Her body shape and curvature look good. There's not much to say, it's too early yet. But I'm folowing your progress.
03 March 2008, 03:58 PM
Still curious about the next steps... Keep it up!
03 March 2008, 09:33 PM
Very early yet! But you already started the 3d..(im still in concept..haha)
I will be waiting for the updates!
Keep it up man!!
03 March 2008, 02:23 AM
thanks for the comments guys!
i started working on her face, still need a lot of work but I´m enjoying how things are going...
and here is the alternative basemesh, I think I´ll put the "trunk hand" idea away, kinda to much for this character..
hope you guys like it...
C&C very welcome!
03 March 2008, 12:01 PM
The front view looks good, but I made some tweaks on Photoshop for the profile view. At this moment she looks a bit masculine, and I believe you could move some parts a bit to give her more softness.
About the body is good looking, nice proportions. Looking forward for next steps.
03 March 2008, 12:45 PM
thanks mate, liked how you correct these proportions, as soon as I get home I´ll be checking it...
03 March 2008, 12:23 PM
It looks fine to me, just do'it the corrections that Amauri sggests and will be good!!
03 March 2008, 07:12 PM
thanks for the support guys!
I´ve already done the retopology of her head, and I´m doing some normal tests right now, I´ll be done with the entire modelling process at this weekend ( I hope :P ) ...
for today I´ll post the high res model with the tweaks that amauri posted, and the low poly model with the normal map tests...
low poly ( with normal map/ note that the "hair" mesh isnt there yet )
low poly ( retopology )
I think I´ll work on her body now, try to finish it to start with the textures, Ill post some tests of the body and hope you guys give more suggestions!
03 March 2008, 07:58 PM
Is getting very good! Keep going on this path that will be show!
03 March 2008, 09:05 PM
the body part
still got to work on her arms and hands, atm I´m doing some normal map tests, its kinda weird right now so I´ll save that for another time!
C&C´s welcome here!
03 March 2008, 10:19 PM
the body shape looks great. you already mentioned that you havn't done much to the arms, and I think it's the same with the feet. If you can manage another divion level, I think the cable thingy can benefit from some finer detail.
03 March 2008, 10:23 PM
thanks kkem, In fact I tried to put another division there, but unfortunately my zbrush crashes after some time of working... I shall try to give the vines more details by editing the normal map with photoshop! thanks man
04 April 2008, 07:13 PM
lowpoly with acessories
normal map test ( low quality img)
04 April 2008, 06:29 PM
Updates, finally I finished the normals, yeah it could be better and I know, but theres no more time to spend so Ill try my best to finish till the deadline!
04 April 2008, 08:28 PM
started with the diffuse maps..
this is a wip stage of the hair texture
04 April 2008, 01:00 PM
I can't see much thing, in my monitor is too dark...
04 April 2008, 12:44 AM
sorry mate, that image is wayy too dark..
but now I´ve got some nice updates
I´ve already started with the diffuse map channel, so I think I can post some screen shoots here, I didnt started with the body yet, so dont consider that part ok? and its just normal + diffuse got to work with the speculars... hope till wednesday I can have all maps done, then I can play with some unreal shaders
crits are welcome, but be quick heheh time is "polygon" () hope you guys like it!
04 April 2008, 02:09 PM
Man, if you want her causing fear on enemies, congrats, you did it! Personally I'd go for more feminine traces, but as it's not you intention, I think you're on the right path. The execution of texture is good, but I think you could give more attention for some parts that show depth, like the scar on her left side of face (the green one). If you put light falling from above an shadow this correctly this texture would be surely more real and impressive.
Keep going, we still have 4 days!
04 April 2008, 02:35 PM
Man, i like very much, when you put a specular map on her, will be great.
04 April 2008, 03:18 PM
amauri: thank you man! your support has been really helpfull man! thanks!
alex: thanks man, hope when I add the other maps it´ll look better!
04 April 2008, 03:51 AM
ok now I´m worried :P
got just 1 day to finish it!
and I spent the whole day to finish all the maps and did some ajustments....
so thats that! I hope tomorrow I can pose and light it up!
thanks for the support so far!
here are some images, hope you like it!
04 April 2008, 04:00 AM

04 April 2008, 12:49 AM
Congratulations for finishing, my friend. Although all problems you had during this time, you made it, and made it good, the char is solid and pretty well made. I love the beauty shot, mainly her middle image, she really causes fear in everybody who looks at her.
Good luck on the DW, and I hope to see you on the next challenge (DW or no...)
04 April 2008, 10:55 PM
