View Full Version : DWIII - 2D - Rawwad - Ruins Warlord

02 February 2008, 03:47 PM
I join war too guys, looking foward how we smash down other sites:twisted:
I was also thinking about 3D, but I am not sure about my lowpoly modeling skills, so better stand in 2D :D

here is my character idea:
It shoul be a some king of rock organic giant covered in stone and concrete, which lives in acient city ruins.

name: Ruins Warlord
class: Warlord
element: Earth/Rock
artifact weapon: some part of acient civilization (street lamp, metal statue, vehicle,...) which was changed to magical weapon by using "historical ultimete weapon"

i like the concept/style so far
usually designs for rock monsters look like those big rocky things from world of warcraft
but your design stands out :)

keep it up

I second that. Good luck!

02 February 2008, 04:29 PM
I 3rd that :) Very sweet design and idea with the lamp post

02 February 2008, 04:47 PM
nice work, really great concept. i particully like the flat bits on his head and the back of the arms, it looks like someone cemented over him while he was sleeping

02 February 2008, 06:33 PM
Hey man! Nice to see you in here too.
Good stuff.. Very cool idea and it look mean too! :) Good luck!

02 February 2008, 06:42 PM
I agree with Mcclane, those flat portions of his body give him a lot of orignality compared to other rock elementals here.

Great work! Can't wait to see more

02 February 2008, 12:00 PM
Great concept Rawwad.
To war!

02 February 2008, 04:42 PM
same to you, buddy! Great concept already (dig the lantern idea!), keep it up and good luck!

02 February 2008, 07:57 PM
Tibor nice concept. I looking forward to finish this. Keep it up friend:thumbsup:

02 February 2008, 08:10 PM
Very cool idea.
I got very inspired by the use of old things from the past as weapons and tools, so wanted to use it as well but I think I won't. You used it first so. :D
Looking forward to see your progress on this one!

02 February 2008, 04:44 AM
good start there!

can wait to see the progress.

Hi, Tibor, good to see you here! Lovely concept so far - really nice rake texture and palette you're using. And I love the flattened stone parts of him and the lamp-post. Hope you'll keep playing around with sizes and scales and different proportions too... Good luck and have fun!

03 March 2008, 03:12 PM
Thanks a lot friends :)

Here are more ideas, I playing with propotions and concrete armor ideas.

03 March 2008, 03:30 PM
Wow ... those are just your sketches? im speechless right now :buttrock:.

I choose B and C and let me tell you! This was very hard to do because your sketches look too damn good, you owe me one :P. Cheers

03 March 2008, 04:06 PM
Very nice.. :) I would pic C. I love the flat head/thingy. :p The legs on most of them resembles plain treetrunks while C's(B also but i like C more) got more varying and interesting shapes. Good stuff! Keep it up..

03 March 2008, 04:28 PM
this is one of my favourite characters the sewer top looks great perhaps you may want to add him some other city stuffs like signs or some iron bars that comes out from the concrete

03 March 2008, 06:19 PM
BBBBB!!!1 :)

the top-heavyness is great!

03 March 2008, 06:27 PM

03 March 2008, 03:34 PM
'F' does it for me. Thats a really interesting concept.

03 March 2008, 04:10 PM
Thanks guys, good to know your opinion :)

03 March 2008, 05:49 PM
I like B and D, but the rest are awesome!

03 March 2008, 06:09 PM
dang nice pieces of rock!

03 March 2008, 12:41 PM
kukut27 and DDS, thanks.

Here are head design ideas, I have two main designs, some kind of horny head or more simply with piece of concrete like cap. Or both together.

03 March 2008, 01:21 PM
Yay, Tibor! Glad to see you're still working on this. I want to see it finished!
Of these heads, I like C the most. I like the flat top of C because the flat top makes it look like it could have been ripped from some hunk of tarmac, which is what your earlier designs suggested. B would be my second choice: It has a nice silhouette, though it doesn't have that same connection of being ripped up from the ground, which is the most original thing about your design. Maybe it you flattened the top a bit more...? D has a great silhouette, but gets even further away from your interesting origins. The horns and big teeth make it look like an evolved carnivore - great for a monster in general, but it feels out of place for a stone golem made out of a long-abandoned road. And A just has none of the above going for it, nothing overly distintive about it at all.

If you're really into the horns of B and D, what if one of the horns had some old, broken pipe coming out of it, further indication that he was once a road?

Anyhow, very, very cool! Keep on moving forwards!

03 March 2008, 02:06 PM
wow thats really looking cool, I like head C the most, you could maybe give him a more prominent lower jaw. Great idea, can't wait to see the finished concept.

03 March 2008, 08:29 PM
i don't know how i missed this entry until now. this is a great spin on a stone character. i really like head c. i want to model this guy some day!

03 March 2008, 08:47 PM
Go for c man,
perhaps with Iron bars as I said or pipes like walrus suggested sorry to keep bothering with this but i think he needs something that make you say "hey thats a road Golem" or something like that good luck man this is still one of my favourites.

03 March 2008, 01:06 PM
Thanks friends, good to know your opinion.

Here is final design, I based it on variant B, because I like it most too. As weapon He use old traffic light with some sort of earth gravity power. CGS logo is placed on canal hood.
So if the End is in April 7th, must be quick to do all sheets and Final pose illustration.
Damn, I really thought end is in 4th July :D

03 March 2008, 01:22 PM
