View Full Version : Fluid-object interaction

Am trying to create realistic looking clouds that interact believably as an object flies through it.Am using motion fields but not getting desirable results. The object creates an impact initially but the clouds 'spring' back to its almost original shape.
I would like the cloud wisps to get pushed around as the object interaction happens.. very subtly, more organic looking. Is motion fields the right approach or is there a more effective way to do this?

The motion fields should work, but if your fluid volume has any textures you will need to make the coordinateMethod = dynamic grid and the coordinate speed near 1. Note that the texture will get streaky over time. The only way for really good looking flows tend to be to use a very high resolution non-textured fluid( which will be memory intensive ).
