this is just reflect some of my ideas
02 February 2008, 11:01 AM
Cool Man I like the tattoo on his body, great work
02 February 2008, 03:19 PM
thanks YuChi, this is new ideas . hope you like it too~
02 February 2008, 03:30 PM
I'm really diggin that last one. The bird claws, however, look a little out of place imo. Keep the concepts coming!
02 February 2008, 03:40 PM
thanks for the inputs all. i am still in the middle of the character development so please let me know more of what you think!:)
02 February 2008, 12:06 PM
Evolution of my concept!!:buttrock:
02 February 2008, 12:14 PM
Awesome concept sketch
02 February 2008, 03:49 PM
Hey, that's really cool !
GooD JOB :bounce:
02 February 2008, 04:14 PM
Really awesome so far. When I first saw your initial sketch, I thought that muscular guy/eagle would not work. But hey, you've proven me wrong. the scythe is really nice too. Perhaps you could make it more stylized? Have you agreed on an element? Air/ lightning fits yours since your character has wings, an ethereal element and eagles represent agility. Post more soon!
02 February 2008, 04:31 PM
I wasn't so sure about the bird's legs before, but I'm completely sold after that last picture. I'm curious how you're going to work in the magical aspect, though.
02 February 2008, 03:55 AM
thanks for the inputs all.
koolnits~ Thank you praising^^
kitunen~ HAHA~COOL LA!
StacyOgie~ Extremely thank your suggestion, Let me obtain very many~In particular about element opinion,This is I has not considered~ But my tone hope is the red black. Therefore I compare like the fire!~:D
Swizzle~ In fact,I also am the unsatisfied before bird's leg. Therefore I have revise. I hoped presents he is the god of death incarnation. The sickle is a weapon, Has the inconceivable charm...
Finally, my English is very bad, replies is imperfect, thought
everybody forgives, thanks ~:bounce:
02 February 2008, 05:06 AM
Great looking design, I like the wings you decided to go with and the placement of where they attach to the body.
02 February 2008, 11:18 AM
Lukavi~Thank you to praise ,I can continue to refuel.:)
02 February 2008, 04:14 PM
I was going to put in color for the last concept but it is a difficult thing to start.
So I decided to give the head more details for now.
All I can say is that this is not final, but I will leave it this way for now.
02 February 2008, 04:28 PM
Now this is sick! wow, great concept and design so far. Goodluck to you! Cheers.
02 February 2008, 04:34 PM
I really like the way your work goes...your character's rock!!!
I'm lookin' forward to see the final result of your great work...
Good Luck!!!
02 February 2008, 04:37 PM
I love it, love it, love it:thumbsup:
02 February 2008, 05:17 PM
wow, this is definitely looking good! Totally right direction! :)
No crits so far!
02 February 2008, 08:41 PM
this concept si very great. wow
02 February 2008, 09:19 PM
Nice idea, fun to see him develop through your sketches, he just got more and more evil looking every time. Awesome.
Maybe he would be more creepy if he was skinny? Just a thought. :)
02 February 2008, 02:18 AM
Don't say "I can't paint " anymore,Because i don't buy it
It's a brilliant piece:thumbsup:
02 February 2008, 02:32 AM
lzuael, i agree with your opinion completely. the character is very strong in the beginning, so after adding the wings i am going to make it a little bit weaker, so he'll look more agile and fast. thanks~:buttrock:
02 February 2008, 03:08 AM
wow!!! It's so cool and love it !! expect your final work and 3D model !!!:)
02 February 2008, 03:21 AM
Your evolution is so cool ! Expect your final work!
02 February 2008, 01:25 PM
oh mad sick concept man. I really really love the added wings. Strong stuff
02 February 2008, 03:23 PM
Great style and the evolution of your concept is interesting. He looks totally evil to boot.
02 February 2008, 02:59 AM
I deeply appreciated all your comment~
02 February 2008, 03:58 AM
Artifact Weapon: Death’s Scythe of Darkness
He is Death incarnate, his eyes can’t see but he can clearly perceive nearby enemies.
The bindings on his body represent the eternal oppression that has been laid upon him.
The bounded wings can’t be used for flight, but by trading his eyes to the High Lord of Death, he has gained his freedom to rebirth.
He uses Death’s Scythe as his weapon, and assassinates enemies with magic.
And he is called “TEAR” because of the two lines of blood tears left as the mark of his sacrificed eyes.
Evolution of my concept!! please let me know more of what you think! :)
02 February 2008, 04:24 AM
I like 4
It's so powerful:thumbsup:
02 February 2008, 04:41 AM
02 February 2008, 04:48 AM
Super cool, man. Keep the good work
02 February 2008, 10:13 AM
Really cool design you got there. I like number 3 with those dead fleshy bits hanging off his shoulders. If he is a stalker-type, no 4 makes him look too grandiose in style. Nice work.
02 February 2008, 01:06 PM
4 4 4 4 4 ...aahah ok sorry but 4 does give off more power. All of them are great though..Keep going.
02 February 2008, 03:01 PM
I say 4 as well, that spiky circle behind him make him look more scary somehow. That, plus he's skinnier as well. I like. :buttrock:
02 February 2008, 05:03 PM
I like the concept sketches.... very fearsome beast!:scream:
02 February 2008, 10:28 PM
I like it, but I would rethink the angle of the scythe. The cutting edge of a scythe is on the inside. He wouldn't be able cut anything with it the way it is right now, unless he drops it over something.
02 February 2008, 03:05 AM
thanks for your comment~ :D
thank you for the opinion, this question is indeed worth considering.
Maybe I will retain part of the shape, just wont let it illuminates this brightly. :buttrock:
Brutikongthank you for the opinion,I have not yet decided on weapon’s design, maybe it will come out on later design drawing.
At that time hope you can give me some opinions too, thanks~:)
02 February 2008, 03:30 AM
Great work buddy.Looking forward to the 3dversion.
Our team is getting stronger and stronger.
Keep it up.Best of luck.
would follow ur thread.
Lets destroy the enemies.
02 February 2008, 02:58 PM
nandlaskar~ thank you~:)
now firing up for some zbrush experiment
instead of strictly following the concept of this head
i mostly go with the flow like how you create something straight from zbrush
it turned out much more fun-
of course the blindfold and other important details will be there in the end , though I pretty like how he looks now, heh :D
02 February 2008, 10:14 PM
Wow man, thats looking pretty wicked. I like the grin. I can't wait to see all the fun details that will be going on him later.
02 February 2008, 04:01 PM
darklion6583~ thank you~:)
when i started into a 3D job, i realized, this is just the beginning of the hardship.
02 February 2008, 04:05 PM
Looking really tight! Keep it up!
02 February 2008, 04:39 PM
OH!you are so fast~
Hi-poly model is very cool! Keep going.
02 February 2008, 06:28 PM
nice freaking modelling
02 February 2008, 08:45 PM
Great progress!!! love the corpsy face too
03 March 2008, 12:44 AM
You have here very power full concept. Keep going.:buttrock:
03 March 2008, 12:57 AM
Great style and great concept, it kind of reminds me of something you might see in hellraiser or underworld.
03 March 2008, 01:19 AM
Wow! I Love the concept! Can’t wait to see final character… Thanks for sharing!
03 March 2008, 02:58 AM
It looks really great ,
Nice work body:bounce:
03 March 2008, 03:14 AM
Really nice stuff going on here. Someone mentioned that the bird legs looked out of place, I think it's because they look too much like something you would see on a chicken. Not a bad-a** hybrid-type species. In the posed drawing they look much better. I'd focus on finding a blend from bird to human. That would be key. Also, keep in mind how this creature will move. If he has wings, and is flying, you're gonna have to figure out a way to make that work, especially with that long tail. I'd make a very low rez model with the proportions and animate. See how it looks. Make modifications from there, then go to it. If this is just for a still, please disregard everything I mentioned. All it's gotta do is look cool.
03 March 2008, 05:19 AM
Loving your progress! i will be watching this thread! :) Keep it going!
03 March 2008, 11:03 AM
Thanks for all of your suggestions.
I think one the main difficulties in making the actual model would be in the wings
It'll take a lot of polys to make them look great, but that would also mean it's going to take up a lot of resources.
I think the actual model construction is going to be a lot harder than I originally anticipated.
03 March 2008, 04:18 PM
mattonium (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=42399) vbmenu_register("postmenu_4983702", true); Thanks for the input. I have fixed the feet model to make it more like a monster’s feet. I am still weighing on whether I should add feathers. Maybe I will upload more later when there is more progress – please keep the comments coming.
As for using animation to improve the modeling issue – that’s one cool thing you mentioned. Makes the model more accurate and makes sense, that’s what I need to work on.
Thanks all for your encouragement and ideas, definitely something that keeps me going forward. Thanks.
03 March 2008, 09:28 PM
This is looking awesome! I love the head sculpt. It has a great feel to it.
Keep it up! :)
03 March 2008, 02:55 PM
wow,i like your concept,,it's very cool idea,i am looking forward your 3D!!!
03 March 2008, 03:29 PM
Beautifull:eek:. He definetely looks wicked:). Very nice sculpting.
All the best:thumbsup:
03 March 2008, 05:24 PM
one of the best entries I really like keep going
03 March 2008, 07:05 PM
How can u mannage your model with normal map....
detailing is excellent:bounce:
03 March 2008, 08:11 PM
Nice detailing on the model. Looking forward to your progress.
03 March 2008, 06:31 AM
the wings look really cool
03 March 2008, 09:14 AM
Really liked the face ... so evil and the way u combined both flesh on the skull ...keep up the good work :wise:
03 March 2008, 04:14 PM
man, ur high poly is looking sa weet
03 March 2008, 07:57 PM
awesome concept! :)
but as long as the wings curve a bit like a cut open tube, don't you think you could get away with low res in up-down over wing?
problem with your design will be animation though it seems. how will the featherwork spread when he moves the wing limbs?
normally the feathers fan and you'd need separate feathers for that but maybe you can make a shabby sort of look where the featherbody splits at each limb? like shabby and dirty feathers that aren't taken good care of and don't fan individually?
would look dirty and scary while save you polys and bones :V7
03 March 2008, 01:20 AM
dude rather than modeling each feather, model many sheets that fit into the wing bone structure and then texture some feathers with alpha channels, so they look modeled in... but you'll also have to add normals to the feathers so they look like they pop out... that will be tricky... i know mudbox loads the texture so you can paint normal data, where you know the texture will be and where the alpha wont... be.
it won't be tooooo incredibly hard, but you'll have to model several feather sets... so the feathers have some variety... kind of like sprites...
03 March 2008, 01:44 AM
sweet model so far, keep it up
03 March 2008, 01:56 AM
Man I love this concept! The modelling stage is awesome and I can't wait for the final result. Cheers!
03 March 2008, 03:33 PM
that's a freaking damn cool concept my friend! cant wait to see that in 3d!
03 March 2008, 04:54 PM
about feathers and doing them alpha:
03 March 2008, 04:05 PM
Hey thx you all for the ideas,
Special thanks to erik_j and blindsyte who gave really useful tips that solved my dilemma. Thanks so much.
The wings which was giving me headaches have finally made its way up with these help.
I know they are by no means perfect but it’s time to take a break here as time is falling short for me.
Still there’s much more room for other adjustments. And I hope that I can finish them in time!
03 March 2008, 04:19 PM
Erik Jakobsson thanks for the weblink. awesome stuff~
03 March 2008, 10:38 PM
awesome awesome sculpting dude how long did that take you if you don't mind me asking?
what bird did you use for your refernce if any? (not trying to steal ideas just trying to learn :D)
03 March 2008, 10:01 AM
WOW!! the wings look absolutely awesome!! so glad I could help :) keep it up!
03 March 2008, 12:03 PM
This is one of my favorite entries from the moment I saw your concepts then I wasnt sure how you would pull it off in 3d but my friend you just kicked it in the ass...AMAZING...keep going
03 March 2008, 03:13 PM
Those wings look awesome! I noticed in your concept drawing that wings seemed to spread from an upper set of arms. It would look pretty sweet if you carried the biceps into the wings a bit more, as well as making the feathers at the tips a little longer than the other feathers imo. Other than that its very impressive!! :)
03 March 2008, 12:11 PM
Seen your concept, seen your wings, it so good.
03 March 2008, 03:16 AM
Hi, thank you all for your encouraging and suggestions.
I apologize for not replying everyone individually, due to my bad English…
When I have time later on, I’ll post more detailed making process and information.
For this time I added a part of the details, please tell me what you guys think about it, Thanks!!
03 March 2008, 03:23 AM
Man what can I say this is turning out to be very good. I cant wait to see it posed! this one is going to rock ass! Hey how did you do the feathers?
03 March 2008, 07:25 AM
The wings turned out great IMO, and everything else is coming together nicely as well, keep it up
03 March 2008, 12:25 PM
coming together very nice for sure. I love the details in the wings. He will kickass for sure.
03 March 2008, 01:36 PM
Nothing more to add, dude.
Really looking sweet and scary. Great updates!
03 March 2008, 03:07 PM
about the question of wing's feather
i made a very simple procedure for everyone to look, the numbers may need more tryings to get the best result.
i can only provide a broad direction, hope this helps, thanks~
03 March 2008, 03:12 PM
03 March 2008, 03:20 PM
03 March 2008, 03:45 PM
Thanks for showing that very creative technique. You have impressive talent.
03 March 2008, 05:27 PM
man i have to say thats i like what your doing on this one. i just dont see why you would have to do so many steps to get that look your going for,but i ll say this. I would like to try what your doing so i can understand why your doing the wings in so many step when i know you can get the same thing with just uesing 32 bit alpha. i know your uesing alpha to but why not just ues a textuer? all and all i like you work and it looks Fing Awsome sorry if its doesnt come off that way. oh yeah how many tris are you at on your model?
03 March 2008, 05:57 PM
thank you for the walkthrough !
03 March 2008, 03:16 AM
Hi, thank you all for your encouraging and suggestions.
Hi ~Vidonm Medina
Why using so many steps on the wing?
Because of some fo the guests want to figure out the whole procedure.
Actually, it’s not the only way to compose this model.
If there is a way for reference, it will be the best.
During the time on this model, I also take a lot of trials.
I think I still have the space to improve….haha…
Thanks for your suggest~:)
The main reason is that I haven’t composed the
wing before, and spent lots of time on trial.
Right now, I always use my leisure time after daily work…
I hope everything can be on time.
In my point of view, the contest isn’t important.
Just be willing to challenge myself and accomplish all what I would like to do.:buttrock:
03 March 2008, 07:43 AM
2bad I dont do 3D, if no i really want to try yur tricks. its so cool.
be watching you :)
03 March 2008, 04:02 PM
heyhey whats up man i just wanted to say once again sorry for the way i cam off in my post. and i do see what your doing and how it works realy well if you dont have any good pics for the textuer and yeah i do the same thing in my 2D/3D work all the time trying new things is always fun some ont but at the end of it all you find some you like always the best part if not start over.oh and the only reson i said anything about your work flow has to do with how much time we all have lift on this one. i was just trying to help,:bounce: also thanks for not being pissy with me. u :buttrock: for that one. i was at work and like i am now. so with that good luck and i just hope my model can come out as good as yours.
03 March 2008, 06:01 PM
This is awesome. I'm surprised it doesn't have 4 stars yet when theres so many others with 4 and 5 stars that I don't think compare to this. This is very creative and a nice balanced design. And pretty creepy too! Well done!
03 March 2008, 12:28 PM
loves the fact not using texture but actually model the wing out...
thanks for the tutorial...just wondering how you apply accurate alpha on the base the place you want............p....
03 March 2008, 03:48 PM
Really appreciated for instruction from each of you…
Here, I would like to apologize for the bad expression in English….
Referring to the suggestions from you, I'll ry hard to figure them out
Thanks for the advices…
Also looking forwards to having more and more opinions & instructions…TKS:love:
03 March 2008, 11:24 PM
great work so far keep it up
DW3 page (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=4983213#post4983213)
03 March 2008, 03:06 PM
it's extremely late on my work....the date of the competition comes closer and closer ....but I still need more time to accomplish the model
03 March 2008, 03:19 PM
That tail is bad ass. The metal seems a little far extruded on it. Better pick up the pace though.
03 March 2008, 04:59 PM
Firerbert~ Thank you~:)
I fixed the tail~:bounce:
03 March 2008, 05:12 PM
I like that much better! very clean and simple but still badass.
03 March 2008, 05:14 PM
Yeah that tail looks much better. Very impressed. Looking forward to seeing some color.
03 March 2008, 05:23 PM
Awesome work man! i was skeptical about the wings at first but yah pulled it off! :-D
one thing is that the legs and wings and tail are so big that it dwarfs the arms, so id stretch them out a little bit and maybe the head too. might be neat if you gave him a long neck too!
03 March 2008, 06:08 PM
Magnificent work! Makes we want to give up . . . or work harder :D. Thank you also for the insight into your process.
03 March 2008, 07:42 PM
zomg it looks so good!
even though it's very late, he does look unbalanced with that big lower body with tail and small upper body.. perhaps make bigger back-mouscles and size down legs and tail just a bit? if it won't interfere with all that detail you've worked out..
good luck! must finish! :)
03 March 2008, 09:30 PM
You need more time to accomplish the model?
:bounce: Dominance war 3 has been extened by 5 days! :bounce:
03 March 2008, 12:21 PM
I have to agree it is looking a little small in the upper body compared to the lower sections. Overall its a badass model though...keep going you will make it
03 March 2008, 12:32 PM
those wings really look great! im curious about the textured model, im sure it'll be superb :)
03 March 2008, 04:12 PM
Hey thanks for all the ideas!
I would probably deal with the overall proportion with some tweaks in low poly model. This is something I have overlooked for a long time, and thank you for pointing it out.
Weapon is about to start. Now I already got an big picture in mind but please do feel free to add more suggestion regarding the details
03 March 2008, 06:49 PM
Fantastic progress... I like the technique you used for the wings:thumbsup:
04 April 2008, 12:44 PM
These are my low-res models and texture maps.
04 April 2008, 10:27 PM
WOW! great work. I really love how you've dealt with the wings. good luck1
04 April 2008, 02:35 PM
Very nice modeling, looks coolhttp://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=234&t=604654&page=4&pp=15
04 April 2008, 03:26 AM
fantastic concept mate im really digging the model as well ill be watching you like a hawk while you texture haha.
04 April 2008, 03:19 PM
Thanks for all of your suggestions
04 April 2008, 04:32 PM
awesome pose and base. now lets see some textures
04 April 2008, 04:47 PM
nice one here. Good job, i like how you approach the wings :) learned something. Good luck :)
04 April 2008, 05:34 PM
thats just amazing man! the wings, the pose! everything fit perfecly! one of my favorites so far! try to finish it man! congratulations!
04 April 2008, 05:42 PM
Great pose, but i think that i would look even more beeter if you move his upper mody forward.
04 April 2008, 06:25 PM
man! all the threads that have updates are just an overload of badass-ness, yours included! This is one of my faves! keep going and get some textures in there 4 days left! goodluck the rest of the way!
04 April 2008, 06:28 PM
I kind of like the fact that he's "off balance" as he's a flying creature. he might be just landing or kicking off or even just balancing by beating his wings? or maybe not..? :P
anyway it looks totally awesome!
love the pedestal! and it really suits him as a flyer.
btw: just remembered about the logo/colours, don't forget if you had :)
longing to see textured!
..I even realised he's not coloured after gazing at him for quite a while :P
I really like the pale look of him! it suits him. hope you won't make him splashy multicoloured WoW:ish :)
"It's the final stretch, Hang in there!!" x¨P (rrrrrriiiiiiddgee... no.. sorry.. carry on)
04 April 2008, 02:31 AM
So appreciated for your advice and encourage~
In pose, I would to present the in balanced tension that makes some uncomfortable in feeling.
If you also can feel what I try to express, I think my go all is accomplished.
In recent procedure, I also do some test on textures…
Hope each of you may like them…TKS
04 April 2008, 06:40 AM
Nice attention to details and really fun "perch" for him to have landed on. I like the pose too. The one area that isn't quite believable is his right hand: It doesn't really feel like his fingers are wrapped aorund and holding his weapon.
04 April 2008, 07:59 AM
Beautifull:). Everything Modeling, sulpting and texturing looks great. What I liked more is, even with textures your normal map details are still very nicely visible.
04 April 2008, 03:10 PM
this has certainly come a far way. It does look good but I'm not a fan of the pose I think it would look better with him actually sitting on the stand..but thats just me..keep it up
04 April 2008, 04:54 PM
I dissagree about the pose, I think it would be too obvious to have him perched, this way we get the feeling of him being animated, and can almost imagin his weight shiftin as he lands/pushes away from the ledge
04 April 2008, 05:37 PM
coool concept!! and well executed ..i'd love to see this finish:thumbsup:
04 April 2008, 04:13 AM
hiya~ thanks for ya’ll guys the encouragement and the suggestion
Well about my very beginning idea is I want to capture an instantaneous moment, because the character’s posture will be more likely a bird or dragon landing in somewhere that moment. (like picture)
I’ll want to expression this kind of feeling is because I design this character in the long time extreme the individuality which is character expression the restless feeling.
He isn’t a inborn on invincible and the super formidable character, its more likely which grows by many disasters and the oppression” The Victim”, but he wants to freedom and end all these inequality. Therefore he gave up his eyes to exchange a powerful ability to against his enemy, those idea keep to following this character. Just hope u ya’ll guys will like it.
04 April 2008, 06:24 AM
Your last update looks sweet :)
04 April 2008, 06:34 AM
hey man really like your last image, looks fantastic props
04 April 2008, 08:14 AM
I love the shot with the lightning...
04 April 2008, 11:07 AM
I guess it's test textures... but anyways guess you'll limit that 'meaty' colouration to fleshy parts and have some other diffuse/etc on feathers etc :3
did you fix the spear-holding hand as pointed out? last pic hides it.
also his left hand has a bit of an awkward pose making it look less authentic :/ perhaps do a more natural pose for the fingers? rotate down the thumb metacarpal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metacarpal) etc?
anyways, good luck!!
04 April 2008, 11:17 AM
This is definetly on a winning course. Last render looks awesome but give the character a little more light so we can see the details better.
04 April 2008, 05:52 PM
Freaking wonderful. Fantastico...Deep, dinamic, scary, detailed.
04 April 2008, 06:26 AM
