View Full Version : DWIII - 2D - Avatarr - Tcheeda the Cold

Hi everybody. Decided to join Cgtalk for this year's Dominance War. Here are my sketches (and the story of my character) so far:
"I was basking in the peaceful glory of nothingness, deeping myself into silence and rest as my life has been only duty and battle. Motionless and absence sang like a sweet flow in my spirit, so slow and fluid and contiguouse... Untill I have been summoned forth, to my duty, once more. Now all I see is bright lights and even the deepest silence of life is a cacofony of noise for me and in my soul there is rage and fury and a cold so deep only the void can make it go away. So I yearn for the void... I shall do my duty once more as duty binds me more than anything to my essence. But wherever I'll go, darkness and void shall follow."
"I have walked the shadows of the world behind the swirling gate for what seems like days now. I hate this world, full of buzzing of the alive artifacts, full of lights. But strong lights cast deep shadows and in shadows I reside. In its darkness there is a bit of void that fills me with the will of finishing this. I already have snatched the secret of a powerfull fuel that can lift great weights from land to the skies with what can be manmade creations. My people could throw mountains at our enemies. These ...machines...have a starnge life animating them. I cut through one and my blades sparkled for a moment with an unexpected radiance, not unpleasant but rather satifying as its glow slowly faded in the void that links my weapons to my realm of rest."
Final post - Goodluck everybody!

Forgot to add some details about this character:
Class: - Stalker
Weapons: - Twin curved blades; Darkness/void
Race: Undead mutant
Why undead - because undead is magic for one and as using magic is one of the conditions of the DW, this was the most logical choice for me.
Why mutant? Well because he isn't just any undead. He's not the mindless flesh/brains glutton. He has thoughts of his own, maybe even more profound that the ones ordinary humans have since he has known "the other side". His body has mutated into an intermediary state, between flesh and dark energies. He can shift in between reality and the void from he was summoned aldo that its a bit painful for him to do since he feels Void its the place he belongs.
Now, the dark stuff coming out of him its not smoke, as it could be mistaken for - but the dark energies of the void. They flow out and around him sucking life, light and sound from around him, making him silent and stealthy and lethal.
The twin blades are the reason for his existance. They have been created by the necromants of the world Ceta Epsarisiz out of condensed necro-particles linked to the nulifying energies of the Void. In the hands of Tcheeda, they act both as weapons and as locator, chaining his spirit to the body while maintaining him linked to the Void. As weapons they feed on any kind of life force they touch. Its like instant mumification for living creature and instant rust decay for machines and alike. The green glyphs create between the blades and the victim some sort of vortex which draws on the victim's life force even if this ones manages to escape.
I know thumnail sketches are meant to be black and white but I'll greyscale them when I'll have the final table of sketches.

Looking like a good start and very interesting story behind this character. Looking forward to your updates.

Thank you for the kind words Brad. Updates will come soon, I still have some things to design so I can make the first entry. I'll add a full black and white painting of the character, some design for the weapons and maybe two close ups for the face, mask on and off. Might be a bit too much but its good practice for me.

Now, this will be an adittion to the sketches page. Before I'll consider that first stage complete 'tho, I'll come up with a design for the face, unmasked.
As for another little story:
"Today I faced my first adversary from another race, another world, an enemy world. It was no doubt they have sent their own heralds to seize the secrets of the artefact world, as my own world did, but never before my encounter have I met one. It was a tall creature, layered in many skins of iron, with power glyphs covering most of that protective armor. Must have been a user of Light since it seemed to feel my presence as I jumped him from the shadows. Had his huge axe like weapon hit me, I would have disipated into nothingness. There would have been no regretes for me to return to my dark resting place yet duty does not allow me to die before I complete my task. So, in my first attack, I have not managed to land him a killing blow. My blades deeply cut into the iron breastplate, up to the shoulder yet no skin has been grazed. I couldn't feel any life of flesh in my blades aside the dry taste of the metal. I quickly retreat into a shadow while his armor turned to rust and crumbled away. My second attack found him defenceless as i crash from above, my blades searing through the veins of his throat, drawing a wirlwind of lifeforce in the pit of the void linked to my weapons. He quickly turned into a shriveled husk, then his dust mixed up with the rust of his destroyed armor. And nothing was left aside a memory of him".

I'm really digging this concept and the story behind him just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work

Ok, new update. A story and some face design for my wittle stwalker. And, how else, another story:
"Its a strange feeling to die. For some, death is scary, for others, death is comfort. For me was just rest between two tasks. A Stalker has no right to life or death. Since birth he is given into duty. Maybe thats what makes us so angry, maybe thats what makes us so cruel... When a Stalker dies there is a ritual. His eyelids are cut. So are his tongue and lips. When summoned, as I have been, there must be no sleep, rest or means to argue untill the task is done. So we are silent and dark and scary as the death we deal upon our foes. Beware, for we do not sleep or feel the need for it. We feed on life and fear and live in never ending shadows. We are Void incarnate and the reason people are so afraid of the dark."

really digging the second face..has a stalker feel to it. Thats some deep section of story. Keep going

Glad you like it guys. Wana give him a persona, make some reason in his insanity. You know how all of us are right from where we stand so I try to do the same with him. So maybe giving him a profound sens of duty, yet taking away from him the means to argue with his fate, I great the mood for him to keep going. Since death is his rest, yet he cannot die before he completes his mission, he will be relentless and unforgiving. Lol, just imagine yourself at work when your boss tells you "Do this and I will grant you a paid vacation" :D

Those are some pretty wicked concepts, especially the head concepts! Amazing!

working a bit around the design, making it more medievalish. And since I kindda finished and posted already the sketch sheet, I'm working now on the modeling sheet. Just realized how little time I have now to finish this and work on the final pic. :banghead:

Seems I have to send Tcheeda to kill somebody to get some input around here. Nonetheless, here is a Modeling Sheet update before its finished. Just some work on the face close up and the blade and I'll have to sprint into the Final Image.
Finished the final Modeling Sheet. Only just a few days remaining to work on the final image.

Ok, Worked a bit on the final image. Here is an overall sketch of the final pic:
...and a small color update:

Another small update.
04-10-2008, 06:22 PM
One more update, maybe the last before the final image is done. I think I'm eather very good or very bad if there are no crits on my work. Nonetheless, here we go:
04-11-2008, 02:28 AM
"Let there be void and darkness and peace. Nothingness and silance, absence so full of meaning to those accepting it. A gift of stillness to those releived of the anguish of existence. No more questions, no more troubles, no more fear and doubts and pain. Just a moment of suffering ending a life time of torture at the tip of my twin k'jaaras.... So let there be void...and darkness...and peace..."
One more update. Pretty much finished with all the characters, just some work on the background needed.
