View Full Version : DWIII - 3D - fellah - African Warlord
02 February 2008, 10:19 AM
my first concept:
I want to do a warlord(or an invoker) from the tribes of the deep forests in africa.
as a weapon, he brought a magical stick from with which he can fire magical monkeyfarts, killing everything in it's surrounding(guess i have to come up wth another idea for that.. but it will have to do as a start)
i still have lots to do on the concept part.. enhancing the mask, tatooes, weapon and armor etc.. but this is approximately the direction i want to go with.. but, time will tell.
+even though the draw is stylised atm i will make it more realistic once 3d. this is just the way i like to draw..
have fun everyone!!! :wip:

ahahahah what forum are you at Neox? this is the only forum i was registered at so I made it easy for myself.. gimme the link so i can crush you!!! ..NOW!!! :D
thanks! and yea.. i have not been posting much online these last.. years.. :/ dunno why.. maybe because I don't get any satisfaction from it.. all work online is for challenges and this is a hot one!
thanks. I'm gonna try to keep the cartoon proportions but give him a touch of reality in 3d.
02 February 2008, 03:00 PM
Haha ... fantastic contept ... i like the style a lot.
Good to fight on your side. :D ... btw. for CGsociety!
02 February 2008, 01:18 PM
haha thanks Christian!!
here's an update.. I added body armour, changed his mask etc..
not sure if it's better or not?
02 February 2008, 01:39 PM
Very inspiring work sir, everything works well on that character : design, proportions, colors... I think you should keep that cartoon style for the 3D model, when it's so well thought, it's a pleasure to see such 3D models, and it might get some more attention from the jury.
Anyway, I'm going to pay close attention to this thread, those 2 sketches are awesome.
EDIT : The second one looks more like a warrior with his armor on.
02 February 2008, 02:16 PM
Hey man, cool concept you got here
I really like your style. Nice colors too :)
02 February 2008, 03:10 PM
haha sweet concept. i like the armour from the second concept, but i liked the little things he had on the end of his stick on the first, and the extra bit of dreads.
i'll keep an eye on this one :D
02 February 2008, 07:51 PM
I will see what to do about the toony part. i do so much cartoons for work that i see this as an opportunity to do something else, while still keeping a toony touch to it.. but true it might fit better with toon modeling.. time will tell.. thanks for the comment!
yea i agree. those 2 things will be brought back one way or another. thanks for the second pair of eyes, it helped.
02 February 2008, 07:54 PM
wow thats awsome! are you going to give it a WOW art treatment?
02 February 2008, 08:01 PM
Very cool concept man, nice to see more work from you :)
02 February 2008, 08:59 PM
Haha right on. Love the style!
02 February 2008, 05:17 PM
great style choice ...cant wait to see the update
02 February 2008, 10:10 AM
I like the style, awesome job!
02 February 2008, 11:10 PM
thanks! a WOW treatment is definitely planned. although, it's always easier said than done.. but it's the goal! better aim high to have a chance to beat those other bastards forums :)
Gavin, Tamas, Faraz and Sasha,
thanks a lot for the comments!
02 February 2008, 10:35 AM
his artifact weapon is able to summon dead monkeys from africa to our advantage.
idea might change with time and more thought but this will have to do for the 2d part.. next update will probably be 3d as i don't have much time to spare on this atm.
c&c and ideas are all welcome.

I'd like to know what your plans are for the style of the model. I think something like the Team Fortress 2 stuff would class!!
02 February 2008, 12:03 PM
Nothing special to add as it is I really dig your style hugely!!!Love it:love:
02 February 2008, 12:25 PM
hello fellah, very nice sketch!
keep goin on!
02 February 2008, 08:26 AM
plans are a blizzard treatment, but with more stylised shapes. maybe a bit like team fortress. but i always tend to change style over time so.. time will tell. thanks!
thanks a lot, I love yours as well!
haha your avatar makes me want to change my concept..! :D
03 March 2008, 07:46 PM
LOL... Finally some humor. I like it
03 March 2008, 12:46 PM
How did I miss this!?
Excellent concept (as usual) Anders... I really like the tiny monkey head on the staff.
03 March 2008, 02:06 PM
Nice. Looking forward to see more.
03 March 2008, 02:37 PM
Hey fellah, coming along nicely can't wait to see your translation in 3d.
And as you asked here is mine, on polycount of course :P
03 March 2008, 02:58 PM
thats awesome! very cool and original style. just waiting for more:bounce:
03 March 2008, 03:39 PM
I kinda wish you had missed it.. you'll just see me leave yet another challenge with an unfinished entry.. *ashamed*
hm.. thinking about it, I'm not alone about that, am i? :p
that absolutely ROCKS!! I love the modeling and the concept is 180 from everything else in this challenge which is a brave choice.
i should have understood it was polycount now that i know their logo :D
I will keep an eye on your entry and maybe register to post some bastardish stuff later once work settles here.. :D
thanks a lot !

Hi anders. Nice to see a new picture from you.
I like it of course :)
I think the head at the end of the weapon could be looking at the warrior. That's a little detail that could be funny.
04 April 2008, 02:58 PM
Hey Fellah, love the cartoony approach. I hope you do finish this piece since the deadline has been pushed back. It's a strong design and should contrast well with the other entries. Good luck.
04 April 2008, 09:27 PM
I really would like to see your entry finished even if you can not meet the deadline ... like me for shure too. Your work is great.
04 April 2008, 09:58 PM
I didn't know you were posting here! I was watching your works for a while.. and like ChrRambow mentioned, i would certainly like to see the end result too.
04 April 2008, 08:43 AM
Long time no speaky! How you doing?
Hope you can get this into 3D. Looking forward to it:p
04 April 2008, 03:50 PM
hope all is well with you! I just checked your cg portfolio and.. I never saw that eagle before, amazing !!!
thanks for the idea, if i get further with this i will implement your idea.
thanks! my schedule is quite full but all these posts give me new inspiration.. but rhaaaa i want to but I don' think I would be able to finish in time as i go to Malaysia 11th of April. and that kinda demotivates me again.
thanks man! yea hopefully another time, if not for this challenge. (I tend to always say that though so don't keep your breath :) )
thanks, makes me glad to hear! I see you are from Malaysia? mm mm I will be going there for vacation in.. 7days!! :)
what's up? long time for sure.. I feel old when saying "time goes to fast".. but it's to true :/ I'm working and enjoying life as much as possible. nothing to complain about.
I will do my best but not sure I got the time to finish it. and i don't like to rush personal works. + I've learnt from experience i don't like to finish challenges :D
04 April 2008, 04:14 PM
as always the design's awesome - made me smile when I opened the thread! Would be great to see it brought to a final render [nudge! ;)] Keep at it fellah :)
