I adore your number 1 design, and I love the body type/style you gave him! Can't wait to see the finished model!

02 February 2008, 11:52 PM
Hi! I was tempted to swap my threads, that insectoid character, Waspen, would be a good choice too... but I thought and thought and Waspen will continue being my 2d thread.

Tebra is a friend's old RPG character and I was the dungeon master of his D&D campaing, so I have more knowledge of Tebra than Waspen and, since my 3d thread is my main thread, I will continue working on this character.

Name: Tebra.
Class: Warlord.
Race: Cursed Human.
Artifact: Wind Star - air/lightning.

Tebra was a leader who drove his brave people to a terrible battle against Zarack, a powerful invoker. Only Tebra survived. Zarack cursed him for his inconsequet act. Tebra was turned into a monster to never lead any army again. So Tebra decided to be his own army and fight to honor his people and die fighting to meet them again, he climbed the highest mountain and shouted for the the gods... and someone heard. Waspen, a celestial fey, was sent to give him an artifact, the Wind Star. Now Tebra has the power to fight!

I came with a study for the final pose, besides I'm sketching details for his skin and maybe some armor. This last sketches are coming soon, just before the modeling. For now, the pose study:

He is about to throw his weapon and he's caring a flag with our team logo on it. W.I.P.

CoNSeptiC: this is my 3D thread, but I have a 2D thread too.

02 February 2008, 12:16 AM
Looks gorgeous! For some reason, he looks like a masterful climber to me, someone who can almost dance his way up into a tree, and still have both hands free.

02 February 2008, 12:43 AM
Atoher perfect silhouette and pose!!
Very beatiful story as well!
I have to say... I'm your fan hahaha

02 February 2008, 03:29 AM
Thanks for the comments, guys!

There's some sketches of Tebra's details and his artifact, the Wind Star, next comes the modeling sheet and the model.

Tebra is carring in his belt some pieces of machines that he destroyed in combat and now he has some war tatoos for protection instead of armor. I detailed his pants too and it is made of three diferent kinds of fabrics.

The Wind Star is a weapon that can be thrown and controled mentally by the user while it is flying, it has electrical power too.

02 February 2008, 08:37 AM
Tebra is gonna rule:eek: Beautifull concepts on the first page.
All the best:thumbsup:

02 February 2008, 03:45 PM
Just some poses:

02 February 2008, 05:54 PM
just amazing!

keep the good work man!

02 February 2008, 01:44 AM
Way to go. 8D

The Wind Star reminds me of something... do you remember Krull?

02 February 2008, 04:00 AM
Really loves plastic of character!

Just for a record drop my two cents here — i think that character is a little boring in details, they should give us his background not only as some physical object but as a personality. Your sketches are really gives me that feeling, but only in dynamic, as soon he stand still he loosing that personality thing :(

But anyway great thread so far keep it up, i'll watch over this thread for sure!

02 February 2008, 04:27 AM
The sketches has an attractive figure. It's so cool ! ! !

02 February 2008, 04:26 PM
great Paulo!! really love all!

Alex Oliver

02 February 2008, 05:02 PM
very cool design.

the tatoos work very well with naked skin. you could put some asimmetry on them, and on the entire character for that matter. some shoulder armor on one hand, some mail on the other ...

02 February 2008, 05:10 PM
Great!! I love it! :applause:

02 February 2008, 07:11 PM
madshooter, Walfrido, hiroshilee, DiegoMaia, Alex: Thank you very much, guys!

Sady: Yes, it's a Krull-like weapon... I think it's cool, hehehe.

Vamp1r0, nikudy: Your comments are very helpful, I'll consider them during the modeling stage. Thank you very much!

Well, while I'm in modeling stage these sketches ilustrating Tebra's story poped-up in front of me... so, I have to show them:

He is the human invoker who defeat Tebra's army and turned him to a monster using the power of his cane of summoning.

He is a naif young giant that fought a powerful beast made of metal and flesh. He should be dead if Tebra hasn't killed the beast. Bur took a beast's tooth and uses it as a weapon in exchange for his right arm that the beast took. He follows Tebra for gratitude and to be as powerful as him one day.

02 February 2008, 07:54 PM
great concepts Paulo!

Alex Oliver

02 February 2008, 08:35 PM
Really terrific and thoroughly-conceived sketches. Great work so far!

02 February 2008, 08:05 PM
This thread is really fun!!

02 February 2008, 09:52 PM
I love the way this character is coming out you put a lot of thought into him that is going to show when you work on your model. :)

02 February 2008, 10:21 PM
Your drawing style is very nice, your characters are full of motion and life. Awesome. You're doing a nice work so far. Congrats and good luck.

02 February 2008, 03:42 PM
This is some awsome stuff! Love the flow in all of your work, as well as the really solid designs. Keep it up :)

03 March 2008, 01:16 PM
Thank you for all the comments, guys! Really thanks!

Finally modeling, it's in early stage but I'm still working.

Just warming up on ZBrush, it won't be used:
Tebra was turned to a monster by the Zarack that summoned the monstrous form from inside out of Tebra's body, so there is yet some pieces of the original Tebra's human skin.
This transformation is a little like Van Helsing's movie werewolf transformation, but with some pieces of skin staying there.

03 March 2008, 02:06 PM
Fantastic! Great movement in those pose studies.

I also like the way his horns take on the effect of tangled branches in some of your head concepts.

Keep up the excellent work.

03 March 2008, 02:36 PM
Nice solid start on the modeling! Very close to the concept!

03 March 2008, 02:50 PM
great start Paulo!
waiting for more!

c ya!

03 March 2008, 02:52 PM
It's continuing to look great, Paolo! Lovely surface detail on his face. With each iteration, you seem to be simplifying the horns more and more. They started out huge and spiky, your last sketch retained at least a few prongs... but now they're just simple horns. I thought the more complicated designs had more character to them and felt less generic. Did you change your mind, or will they still be added back in? Anyhow, nice work nonetheless.

03 March 2008, 06:08 PM
Great Start ! I want to see this finished model!

03 March 2008, 07:40 PM
The base is looking great so far! I'm looking foreward to see the highpoly model! :D

03 March 2008, 01:10 AM
Verygood! I'll looking your job, "very near lookink" ok?!

excelent topic!

Alessandro Lima

03 March 2008, 03:34 PM
Going pretty well.

And I kinda like what you did on his mouth and eyes in the Zbrush version.

03 March 2008, 03:51 PM
Thanks, buddies!
Now I'm modeling Tebra's body.

Walrus - Don't consider that last picture, that was a zbrush sketch just to practice. I simplified the horns because I think the main features of the caracter are in the body shape, but the horns hold some ramifications yet.

03 March 2008, 04:33 PM
Great work mate.

03 March 2008, 06:21 PM
Ah, gotcha! Glad to see you're keeping some of the spikes then. I like them (as I made clear.) Looking nice! :)

03 March 2008, 07:13 PM
Great job so far man! keep it up!

03 March 2008, 05:46 PM
If Tebra was a game hero he would have the following special moves:

03 March 2008, 10:47 PM
Reaaalllyy nice job!!! Tebra is a kick arse character!

03 March 2008, 10:07 PM
*sips coffee*

Update, please.

Hehe, very nice that you took the time for those special moves sketches.

03 March 2008, 03:03 AM
And the Updates? Where is it?

03 March 2008, 06:24 PM

Walrus, BloodTaster - Thanks for the comments, guys. Your works are really inspiring for me!

DoInferno - I'm glad you like it, I'll try to bring the final model A.S.A.P., thanks for the visit on my blog... it deserves a update too, hehehe.

Sady, alima - Hi, buddies! You konw how I'm busy here, but DW is a priority! Tebra is coming soon!

Thank you all for the feed back! See ya.

03 March 2008, 07:49 PM
Strong design, still feel he needs a tweak to make him a tad more "different". Really like your drawings too.

03 March 2008, 12:11 AM

04 April 2008, 01:36 AM

04 April 2008, 10:48 PM
Hi again, good sculpt man, good lights too. His face is really strong, now are you gonna finish the rest of him? He is actually pretty kick-ass and it would be a real shame not to finish him now.

04 April 2008, 04:15 PM
Well... I didn't get in time to finished Tebra, so I'll keep working on it in my spare time.
