Ok well I read the concept and it interested me so I decided to join.

My guy is an Invoker, and of course from the image an Invoker of death. He manipulates the life force and masks his image in others causing death around him; essentially he get's everyone to kill themselves off.

So here is my concept drawing, I will add more but this is the basic idea; he will have a staff etc. and the skull design will be different and less human looking.

Heres the concept guys:

Edit: The artifact is Darkness/void; and I am thinking a sickle of some sorts or the classic weapon associated with death.

An Invoker of death in plain street clothes, I like it. This is the first "normal" atired character I've seen so far.

I'm also digging your hero's unconventional garb (unconventional in magical terms.) Right away Brad Pitt's depiction of Death incarnate in the film Meet Joe Black comes to mind. What kind of posing are you thinking of for your character?

he will have a staff etc.
When I read this the first thing a thought was a staff in the form of a secretary or human resources etc. but now I see you're meaning something more like Moses' plague-wielding instrument of God.

I guess having a magical Blackberry artifact would be overstepping the "no electronics" clause.

Keep up the brainstorming!

Thanks, for some reason I had thought this thread had been deleted and as a result I did not give updates; however expect updates now that I have been informed of whats what.

Ah yes, he will be wearing an 18th century style suit; so a little more old fashioned; death is always hidden in the plain clothed and thus I want to illistrate this point. and with that, I must start with the concept painting then the actualy moddelling *fun*

Alright heres a paintover:

I bribed my younger brother into putting on a suit and letting my take reference photo's so here are the results. I will start modelling soon!

Alright well I started the modelling process. Yeah I know there are some tri's on the legs, but bear with me here I will fix them ASAP.

Here is a pilot weapon; The classic symbol for death, and it will have the CG society's symbol imprinted on the blade.

Sorry for the roughness of the work, it was a quick render of what I hope to achieve.

I need some crits guys help me out; here are the shoes I think they look a little toonish though; and I am looking for a more serious look.

03 March 2008, 03:08 AM
If you're going for a less toonish look than I suggest you get some more reference. Great idea getting your brother to pose for you. Now see if you can find some close-up photographs (or make some) of the shoe style you're going for. From the angle you've posted I'd say the toes are too big (or the heels too small). Kind of Ronald McDonaldish.

Now, do you imagine this character having fleshed out legs or are they as bareboned as his face? This will determine weather your pants are modelled correctly. If you're going for relatively realistic "average" proportions I'd say that they are looking a little narrow. Just look at the reference that you made of your brother.

Keep it up.

Alright, i'll try to make the get up look alot more on par with the other concepts as well as mess around with the model and make it more realisitc. Right now it is pretty skinny.

His forms are little too simple for my opinion but i like overall concept keep goin!

03 March 2008, 05:31 AM
alright thanks, i'll keep on going!
