View Full Version : Flex in bullet time

So I'm animating this shot (in Max 9) that requires slow motion, and then fast motion, and then slow motion again (sort of like bullet time). We're using flex to control the hair dynamics. The problem we just realized was that the flex is always operating in realtime, is there any way we can control the speed the flex moves?

Try Point cache. Check out the playback graph.

Hrrm... well that's a pretty cool tool, but unfortunantly I don't think it'll do what we need. The animation already has the slow motion "baked in" as in I animated it that way. I'd have to go back and make the animation work in realtime, and then slow it down using point cache for this to work

that's handy to know for in the future though.

any other suggestions? :D
I was thinking maybe some type of spacewarp might do the trick?

Well I'm thinking that to do it with flex you will have to animate some of the flex parameters to make it look right. Might be eaiser said then done. You would need to animate values so the flex appears heavier and lags more durring the slow motion sections.
