Name: Larke Malarke
Artifact: darkness dagger
Last post before submitting the final piece. The textures still need work, but I'm going to rig her 1st, get her more set up for her poses, and then finish the textures.
Next year I'm definitely pacing myself better ;)

More thoughts on where i'm going with this.... I'm becoming fond of the idea that the artifact is stabbed through the character's hand so that she can gain it's power. This would make the power crackle up her arm, doing funky things to her skin.
Needs to be more dramatic, though...
Ah, well. A rough sketch of another design. I'll see how I feel about it in the morning.

From the looks of the colors and design I would almost suggest calling her an Ice Invoker. With the water/ice powers and Invoker so she can be powerful with the magic, since the artifact is kind of part of her.
As it is I can almost see her glowing blue through her skin shooting blasts of solid ice or freezing others in place, or even protecting herself in a giant ice barrier. That'd be pretty cool.

Definitely she's an invoker now. As to the power, I'm leaning towards darkness. We'll see.
This new design I'm infinitely happier with. A few minor tweaks ( and a back view), and I'm totally doing this one:

I agree...this concept is much nicer. WTF?!? is that dagger going through her hand. Thats pretty dark if you ask me. I like how her neck is just a bit long. It adds a little snake like feel. Very devilish. It looks like the artifact is her eye, and its traveling through her viens! very cool

Like the new colors/concept. Looks like the darkness just flows right through her!

Hey, it's been a little while... I better prove I'm still in this:
It's not much yet, but I hope to start the zbrushing once I've got some decent edge loops.

Current Armor. Still need to figure out where to integrate the cgsociety logo... need to read up on the rules for that.
Not sure what i want to do for the unarmored half of her torso. i know i want the straps there, but do i need anything underneath it?

Moving the pic from the front page to the back. Not the finished sculpt, but it's pretty close.

Final entry. I rushed it in at 11:00. This has been quite a learning experience for me. This is the first time I've really taken a character from start to finish like this, and I don't think it's too bad considering that.
Overall I was much happier with what the character looked like as I was turning it around in high quality viewing in maya. The render softens it too much.
I intend to do lots more edits on my character, and look forward to next year!

Not bad, especially if it's your first time.
