well herez my concept for warlord...
its not final yet but m workin on some of the stuff on this guy.still have tons of ideas floatin in my mind.will comeup with something cool later tonight or tommrow..

I already know this is gonna turn out awesome. As a crit I think designs for different pieces could match more. Like the shoulder armor and the leg armor. And the artifact in the forearm too.

Each part individually is cool though, DOMINANCE!

well i worked a bit on his torso havent sculpted the forearms and palm yet. but m not really concerned about forearms coz they will b hidden but i will just sculpt so that it matches the proportions.will move on the the final subdiv. as soon as i m satisfied with this level of detail.i just wanna make em with some crazed anatomy with some freakin veins n stuff.

dude!! these forearms and arms are awesome. Torso looks a little generic to me but I guess that happens when I see your work for 8 hours everyday. Although I strongly recommend giving some natural fat to this guy...

thanx for the replies guyz.
was pissed like heel since there was powercut at my place again n again. but neways i worked as much i could and came up with little update. added some stuff on his arms and worked on the torso and palm a bit. now i'll start adding detail to these individual parts. hope i'll come up with update soon.

and made a skull last night and rendering with arran lewis's kickass shaders.

Very nice sculpting Samar. This guy really does look like a bad guy to mess with. I feel the muscles/tendons around his neck area are a little too tight but that is just my opinion and pretty minor at that. I look forward to the next update! DDDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMIIIIINNNNANNNCCCEEEE!

thanx for the comments guyz,yesterday i was worked on some accessories but when i appended then on to the model they werent lookin as i planned so i decided to change some stuff and diff. things like armour design n weapons etc. so will be workin on them and see how they come. herez a small update.

it looks great so far. the cloth is very cool, maybe you could try rip it off here and there. the guy's been through fire and battle with that.

The skulls and gear looks awesome, but as someone mentioned before the torso might be a bit generic.

You are insanely good at sculpting such nice details, really impressive modeling work going on here, can't comment much in a useful way about it.
But as geostik pointed out, you might want to damage a bit the clothes, and also the skulls : I find it hard to believe that they still got all their teeth on, I'm sure some should have gone missing during battles.

realy love this design and modeling. but what i loved in the concept hich i don't think u have done yet is the realy big arms compaired to the body. the arms where realy bulky on the concept but i don't see that in the chest and arm 3d model which i thinks a shame

well now i m pretty much done with the lowerpart of the model. just a few hours work left.
then i will move on to the upperbody to add some stuff acc. to my plan.i tweaked some stuf on the leg and made his feet armour. i tried a lotta things on his feet but at the end i came up with thisdesign which m pretty much satisfied.

Got a little nervous when you jumped right to the modeling and didn't take your concept onto paper first. Well if it works for you then good luck.

yeah u r right i have planned to finish everything before a week so that i can give a decent amount of time for rendering stuff and the final beauty with comp. in photoshop. iwill just make and uvtiles on every piece on 3rd div. and xract normalmaps and then render those 3rdiv with nrm maps in max. and i guess i can import some of my meshes on the highest level for the final hires render. neways thanx for stopping by.

thanx dude, but as i mesntioned before that these tiny details like skulls scratches wont appear that much in the 2048 map. i just did them for my satisfaction for the hi res ad it takes less then 5 mins to do thatso its well worth for me.
and i did a few sketches for the feet armour and the tigh armour and rest al i thin on the lower body as according to the concept,and as far as upperbody is concerned m gonna make some changes in the final concept sketch which i have scheduled acc. to the time deadline.

Btw did u try taking out the plain cylinder from the axe, making it shorter, from handle to skulls. Then u can also make it really ****in huge.

Sweet stuff, the axe looks really great. It looks like the guy's eyes are too close together. It might be just me though, also he looks less powerful from the side. I don't know why, again it might be just me :\

Your modeling is great. I think the head looks a bit old compared to his body, though.
I can't wait to see it textured and posed, I think it will be high up on the list of entries.
I wanna see the low res model too, it should be interesting to compare with the hi res.

I also agree with nikudy and joed - it seems a bit mismatched how rugged, leathery, and wrinkled his face is compared to his perfectly smooth body. It would be nice to see one or the other adjusted to that they work better together. But anyhow, great stuff so far!

1. the face has more wrinkles becoz its UVs wont be scaled that much that u can put desired amount of detail in the 2048 map:banghead: .

2. the legs r meant to b symmterical coz already the torso and hands r on asymm. so its obvious that i cant keep the legs on asymm in order to make the details pop out in 2k map i have to keep them on symm.:wise:

3. and last but not the least.
i think u poeple forgot that the weapon is also included in a 2048 map.:deal:

Yep thats the biggest challenge, to put all that detail into the 2k map and still hold the ground. But none the less, you have come this far and it's looking superb. I can't wait to see the texturing and the transfer to lowpoly, cheers.

Nods to Red on that note. The face looks grizzled and you can almost feel the texture of his scared and old skin. You could probably add more definition to the rest of the body to complement the face and the rest of your work, Samar. It might just add an extra Hmmph to the punch we felt when we all looked at your character. ;)

i spent some time sculpting the tosro and adding fats. i will add some wounds and cuts too. to make em look more badass. meanwhile i started with the lowres too..and abt to finish it soon.
the lowres is not final yet coz i havent optimized it. will be posting the final version of the lowres tommorow.

currently the tri count is 8700 coz i havent optimized it yet.

m alive peopleeeeeeeeeeeeeee. it aint over :P... was messing around with the lowpoly and xraxting *&^&ing AO maps.. but somehow managed to get things done.. i was done yestrday night with the updates and it was 4 AM. so was too lazy to upload them..:P

its 8998 tris including the weapon.and the maps r 2048 its not final mesh coz i will still optimize and add tris where needed, the weapon's hammer is in progress so will xarct the maps asap.

The normal mapped figure looks amazing. I didn't know how well the hi-res would tansfer to a low-res model, but you pulled it off very well.

Once textured, this guy should definitely be in the top 50.

awesome how the normal maps turned out, really flawless :) maybe 1 thing, if you optimise maybe the little skulls, and put a few extra cuts in the lower leg armor, it would make a bit more jagged siluette there, but anyway, its one of my favourite entrys so far thats for sure :applause:

well if the mesh is too high the default wavefront obj importer of max doesnt work.for this purpose i use another obj importer " gwo obj importer " which can import millions of polygons in max, but it depends on ur system config.
well i found that it doesnt matter if the cage is overlapping other fingers i just crank up the value so that there no surface left outside the cage. i know it makes no sense but it works .just try it u'll find it out.

really good info with this raycasting cage, works this with other maps too?`normal bump for example without bad results?

i think you have a realy good chance of top 10 or top 5 if you ask me.

diff. is just the quality, more the samples better the quality and more expensive rendering.

herez a texture update on the lowerbody. still workin on it. no seams fixed yet. no opacity maps, even the specular is just a rough map.m testing the maps in unreal engine.

Holy Hell man!?! How much space did these pictures take up on imageshack!?! I might have had a slow connection at the time or something, but it took for flippin' ever to download!

10 minutes later....

Looking really tight for game engine! I really love the back area of his legs and the side of his thighs. They translate really nicely onto the low poly and the textures you've applied totally make them pop. The only part, for me, that doesn't translate as well are the armor slats on his calves and the design on the front of his thigh. Now from a distance, in game, it would look amazing. Up close in the gigantor terabyte renders, they just flatten out a bit to0 much if you know what I mean. They look awesome as crap, but upclose, they lose the effect you had from the highpoly. Once you dial in your specularity levels in your map, I think that will really help these areas and give them the depth they deserve.

Texturing is looking really solid and dirty as all get out. Looking forward to the arm and torso updates!

Oh, right, that's why I was waiting to see the textures for this guy: Because I knew they were just going to rock! The only thing I have to suggest - and I really should wait 'til you have the whole body together and we can see it as a whole - is that everything reads as a similar value. The red, the grey metal, even the dirty skulls, all tend towards a really similar level of shininess, grime level, and overall value. Small on screen, I would worry that this might read as mush. It may not be that important - when we see the whole body, I'm sure the skin will pop and that might be your whole goad. Just thought I'd bring it up now.

but anyhow, really fantastic work. Love the details, and love how you've incorporated the logo. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Incredible work. This is one of the best low-poly model I've ever seen.

Your tutorial for the AO is great and useful, but when I try, It's not working properly. The rendering is done with max default lightning. Is there an option to check, or do you had lights in your scene? And what kind of lights in this case. Thanks in advance for your answer. ;)

Amazing work. The hi-res translated quite well to the low poly model.
The textures so far look really good too.
Is there a seem at the top/back of his head? or is that supposed to be like a light/streak of white?
and the same for his forehead: is that suppose to be bright white (or light emitting from his head)?

If that is what you are going for, I think some more work needs to be done, bc without a description that part of the head can look like a mistake.

Also, if at all possible I think the axe blade can use a few more tri's (to create more of a curved surface) and to match the amazing quality of the character. I know this may not be possible, but maybe you can take some tri's from the handle or another area of the weapon.
