02 February 2008, 08:51 AM
well herez my concept for warlord...
its not final yet but m workin on some of the stuff on this guy.still have tons of ideas floatin in my mind.will comeup with something cool later tonight or tommrow..

02 February 2008, 03:30 PM
I already know this is gonna turn out awesome. As a crit I think designs for different pieces could match more. Like the shoulder armor and the leg armor. And the artifact in the forearm too.

Each part individually is cool though, DOMINANCE!

02 February 2008, 08:56 AM
yeah i agree with u albert,
so i came up with few more designs . will be adding a lotta stuff on his arms feets etc. will post the final concept sheet soon.

02 February 2008, 01:04 PM
ok m done with the concept sketching for my character. rest of stuff i'll be adding during the hi res modeling coz i dont really wanna spent much time on sketching.:D will be workin on modeling tonight.

02 February 2008, 01:06 PM
Nice sketches, and oooh! is that his brain... mmm I like brain.

02 February 2008, 07:56 AM
thanx Loukor. and yeah its a brain :P
well i started doing the base mesh for the upperbody and fixed the proportions a bit in zbrush. will be adding details n stuff to his torso as i move further. thanx
here r the WIPs

02 February 2008, 08:03 AM
great design dude,he looks wicked! I'm sure you are gonna put the real detail in your sculpt:D
nice start on the base too, looking forward to updates, goodluck !

02 February 2008, 09:47 AM
So far so good. :)
I think the shoulder-piece looks a bit out of place as it is. My eye wants it to be bigger.

02 February 2008, 10:25 AM
Hey Samar.. great concept man, I will be coming to this boards to cheer ur entry..:) Looking forward to see how it turns out.. Best of luck:thumbsup:.. U will find me in the Green team :scream:

02 February 2008, 12:23 PM
Uow very nice :)

02 February 2008, 12:38 PM
will be sweet no doubt! Looking forward to seeing how this develops! Keep it up :bounce:

02 February 2008, 12:52 PM
looking great so far. The concept is badass and you certainly have the basic shapes down in the modeling so far

02 February 2008, 07:46 AM
Reminds me of Spawn, but looking pretty bad ass, excellent job on the 3D torso so far!

02 February 2008, 08:31 AM
keep it up dude. It will be great! :buttrock:

02 February 2008, 11:56 AM

@sri, thanx for droppin by dude.
@magda, thanx for droppin by, it was great to hear from u, i'll sure give my best on this character.
well i worked a bit on his torso havent sculpted the forearms and palm yet. but m not really concerned about forearms coz they will b hidden but i will just sculpt so that it matches the proportions.will move on the the final subdiv. as soon as i m satisfied with this level of detail.i just wanna make em with some crazed anatomy with some freakin veins n stuff.
herez the progress so far.

02 February 2008, 12:39 PM
Dude that looks beautiful, I wish I could start sculpting soon but I have to wait for my new workstation to arrive Q_Q.

02 February 2008, 12:41 PM
dude!! these forearms and arms are awesome. Torso looks a little generic to me but I guess that happens when I see your work for 8 hours everyday. Although I strongly recommend giving some natural fat to this guy...

I'll pass by later on, all the best!

02 February 2008, 12:44 PM
Beautifull, looks real cool Dude:cool:. Very nice concept, modeling and sculpting.
All the best:thumbsup:

02 February 2008, 12:51 PM
whoa...looking sweet so far man...chandaal will rock this forum once its done!

02 February 2008, 09:21 AM

was pissed like heel since there was powercut at my place again n again. but neways i worked as much i could and came up with little update. added some stuff on his arms and worked on the torso and palm a bit. now i'll start adding detail to these individual parts. hope i'll come up with update soon.
herez the progress so far

02 February 2008, 10:46 AM

02 February 2008, 11:01 AM

02 February 2008, 04:56 PM
Wicked modeling so far...those gauntlets are hot. I have a feeling this guy is gonna be pretty badass.

02 February 2008, 10:38 AM
Very nice sculpting Samar. This guy really does look like a bad guy to mess with. I feel the muscles/tendons around his neck area are a little too tight but that is just my opinion and pretty minor at that. I look forward to the next update! DDDDDDDDDOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMIIIIINNNNANNNCCCEEEE!

02 February 2008, 01:03 PM
thanx every1 for the comments ,m gload u liked it.
@ fistofgod ,hey waylon thanx for dropping by.. actuaaly the neck muscles r not been sculpted yet coz i haven blocked out his head.

well i worked on a skull again last night. but couldnt work much coz of backpain. but i will make sure to cover up yesterday's night time.... TONIGHT..

02 February 2008, 12:32 PM
thanx for the comments guyz, yesterday i was worked on some accessories but when i appended then on to the model they werent lookin as i planned so i decided to change some stuff and diff. things like armour design n weapons etc. so will be workin on them and see how they come. herez a small update.

02 February 2008, 01:27 PM
it looks great so far. the cloth is very cool, maybe you could try rip it off here and there. the guy's been through fire and battle with that.
in this pace you should finish way before others :D

02 February 2008, 01:33 PM
yes us more

btw, new avatar. You likes?? WAAAAAAR!!

02 February 2008, 01:37 PM
thats amazing hats off to you...keep up the great work

02 February 2008, 01:45 PM
Mad sculpting! I can't wait to get started with that myself.
The skulls and gear looks awesome, but as someone mentioned before the torso might be a bit generic.

Keep 'em coming! :buttrock:

02 February 2008, 02:18 PM
You are insanely good at sculpting such nice details, really impressive modeling work going on here, can't comment much in a useful way about it.
But as geostik pointed out, you might want to damage a bit the clothes, and also the skulls : I find it hard to believe that they still got all their teeth on, I'm sure some should have gone missing during battles.

02 February 2008, 01:20 PM
hey albert thanx for teh reply. and yeah the avatar is lookin cool man. probably threaten other people :P.

thanx to u guyz too@ izuael ( izuael) and brad . nice to hear frm u.

@happy cookie and geostick. , yeah i worked on them skulls and made them a bit %^&ed up. and riped the cloth.
well i decided to add the shoulder armour last night since i have decided to change the concept a bit. so here r the some screenshots .
will try to add some more stuff on his upper body cz right its lookin a bit empty :P

02 February 2008, 02:00 PM
simply WOW!

02 February 2008, 02:36 PM
very cool stuff

02 February 2008, 02:43 PM
Hi samar. You are doing a good job my friend.Keep it up.

02 February 2008, 02:45 PM
Man, the anatomy of your model looks so good that it's almost a sin covering it with armor and war trophies :D.

02 February 2008, 03:33 PM

02 February 2008, 03:45 PM

03 March 2008, 06:08 PM
Really amazingly beautiful, detailed modeling work so far. All the details are terrific, but I'm especially impressed with the anatomy. Great job!

03 March 2008, 06:48 PM
One of the best models I have seen in my entire life !

03 March 2008, 07:18 PM
totally rad and awesome so far! i did notice one thing though... the coins hanging on the skulls have wierd polys at the centers.

03 March 2008, 07:33 PM
I'm not a fan of your design but your modeling skills are really impressive.
Will probably change my opinion as soon as the 3D stuff will be finished.
Want to see more !

03 March 2008, 08:02 PM
awesome modelling

i hope all those fine details will show in the final texture. with a good diffuse texture this should look insane.

keep it up !

03 March 2008, 09:32 PM

03 March 2008, 10:28 AM
Good work man.

03 March 2008, 11:53 AM
Most impressive  Your models are clean and very detailed. The style is a bit "orc-ish" I think with all those skulls. I'm sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, but do you plan to add any signs of his "track record" (Kills)

03 March 2008, 03:23 PM
OMFG DUDE!! didnt ur mom teach u not to play with dead bodies when u were a kid? Skulls are looking INSANE

03 March 2008, 04:30 PM
keep it upo of luck really looking promising

03 March 2008, 08:17 PM
wow!! nice to see those cool really helped increasing my confidence.thanks a lot people.
well i know those fine details wont appear that much in the normal map. but who cares if u can give 5 mins more on every piece to look better in the high res. so i think its worth for me even i m not able to get them in low res .

neways herez a update on the lower part still have to add a lotta stuff there.
and i might be tweakin the thigh piece too. coz its lookin a bit small as compared to the rest. but its not a big deal.
herez the updates.

03 March 2008, 08:24 PM
I like the lower leg :buttrock:

03 March 2008, 08:26 PM
hell ! thats some badass detailing on the armour, keep the updates coming !

03 March 2008, 03:36 AM

Very impressive details. I love.

Good job

03 March 2008, 03:03 PM
Too rockin' for your own good!

03 March 2008, 04:28 PM
realy love this design and modeling. but what i loved in the concept hich i don't think u have done yet is the realy big arms compaired to the body. the arms where realy bulky on the concept but i don't see that in the chest and arm 3d model which i thinks a shame

03 March 2008, 05:15 PM
Keep going My friend ......................I think I can see the winner :scream:

03 March 2008, 05:38 PM
best of luck bro just keep going

03 March 2008, 06:32 PM
Hey samar...............i have been following ur thread from the start and I really like the way u r building upon the character.........and the detailing is awesome

Keep going

03 March 2008, 07:49 PM
hey thanx for the replies guyz,
m glad u like it.
well now i m pretty much done with the lowerpart of the model. just a few hours work left.
then i will move on to the upperbody to add some stuff acc. to my plan.i tweaked some stuf on the leg and made his feet armour. i tried a lotta things on his feet but at the end i came up with thisdesign which m pretty much satisfied.
herez the progress

03 March 2008, 07:55 PM
KICK ASS...your going to kill in this contest...keep going man

03 March 2008, 07:57 PM
fantastic design and detail on the legs, keep the updates coming in !

03 March 2008, 08:23 PM
Wow, what a level of detail... this is amazing!!

03 March 2008, 09:56 PM
Amazing! And you'are so rapid.
Well done.

03 March 2008, 10:13 PM
Every detail on its own looks finely worked. Some of the smaller stuff like the tiney skulls may not translate well onto the 2048 sheets I think. Looking forward to seeing all of it together. Got a little nervous when you jumped right to the modeling and didn't take your concept onto paper first. Well if it works for you then good luck.

03 March 2008, 10:50 PM
Holy crap on a crutch! Nice detail dude. Very inspirational.

03 March 2008, 10:53 PM
Freaky! I hope you reserve a weeks time, or a renderfarm, for the samplingprocess. Plenty on seperate meshes on top of highres surfaces (such as chains). But I figure it will be well worth the work ey?

Good luck to India and their undead army:)

(and tnx for stopping by my thread)

03 March 2008, 08:19 AM
hey thanx for the comments guyz.

yeah u r right i have planned to finish everything before a week so that i can give a decent amount of time for rendering stuff and the final beauty with comp. in photoshop. iwill just make and uvtiles on every piece on 3rd div. and xract normalmaps and then render those 3rdiv with nrm maps in max. and i guess i can import some of my meshes on the highest level for the final hires render. neways thanx for stopping by.

thanx dude, but as i mesntioned before that these tiny details like skulls scratches wont appear that much in the 2048 map. i just did them for my satisfaction for the hi res ad it takes less then 5 mins to do thatso its well worth for me.
and i did a few sketches for the feet armour and the tigh armour and rest al i thin on the lower body as according to the concept, and as far as upperbody is concerned m gonna make some changes in the final concept sketch which i have scheduled acc. to the time deadline.
thanx for appriciation.

03 March 2008, 08:55 AM

Dude, this is so amazing, I wont even be a little mad if you win. :)

03 March 2008, 05:16 PM
well I'm more greedy and will indeed get pissed if you win something and I don't.

And by the way, are you updating? Being sick was a good excuse, I hope you used it properly today (j/k dude ;))

edit: oh oh, I forgot to tell you that I think you should start with the head already!
edit (2): damn this internet is slow. Btw I like chains, we want chains like the BHG guy

03 March 2008, 05:17 PM
oops...this internet is so slow, I just tried to reply from 3 different windows :D

03 March 2008, 05:23 PM

Great stuff man. You have a good eye for detail

03 March 2008, 01:59 PM
sweet jesus samarcbz can you give us little people a chance..ahaha. I'm wondering if the chainmail and cloth would look better if it was a little longer...just personal taste though

03 March 2008, 03:30 PM
Nice start man, i really like the overall proportions and armour, i'd tone done the muscles though. The face could be more interesting as well, otherwise nice start.

03 March 2008, 03:41 PM
I really like the level of detail that you sculpted thus far…well done.

well i did a speed sculpt last night for the head as i was not much satifies with the head in the concept he was lookin a bit young. so i wanted to make em a bit badass.and i will be adding some metal armour stuff on his head later. meanwhile herez one head update

03 March 2008, 12:38 PM
Very, very good man, one of my favs here. The anatomy has a " comic book" look that i loved, reminds me the old Dale Keon drwanings.
Keep it up man, I´ll follow this one.

03 March 2008, 12:51 PM
Nice details....It seems to me that Hulk Hogan was used as a referense...wasn`t he? :)

03 March 2008, 01:26 PM
great work ! love the body

Alex Oliver

03 March 2008, 02:26 PM

meanwhile herez the head and the weapon wip.

03 March 2008, 08:33 PM
WOW! cool details man. Nice moustache too! Fleshy face :D Why can't we see the whole thing yettt

Btw did u try taking out the plain cylinder from the axe, making it shorter, from handle to skulls. Then u can also make it really ****in huge.

Just 2 cents, good job my friend!

03 March 2008, 08:36 PM
hey albert i tried some stuff on the pipe of the axe but nothin satisfied me so i gave up and thought would work with a fresh mind tommrow.. coz u know there was a lotta stress today evening. :P

03 March 2008, 08:51 PM

03 March 2008, 09:41 AM
WoW! :bounce: :bounce:
Thats just wicket! Love the details. This is going to be a great entry.
Keep it up!

03 March 2008, 10:04 AM
Sweet stuff, the axe looks really great. It looks like the guy's eyes are too close together. It might be just me though, also he looks less powerful from the side. I don't know why, again it might be just me :\

Keep it up :)

03 March 2008, 10:14 AM
nice! inspiring stuff. love the character of this guy. i like the details on the weapon and armor as well! but maybe the handle of the axe could have a further exaggeration in proportion, just a thought:) .

Great stuff! keep it up!

03 March 2008, 10:19 AM
Hi Samar,

What can I say, what not has not been allready said ...
Ok maybe "Geweldig!" has not been said (meaning fantastic! in dutch).

Do you also have more wireframe lowpolys of the head to show ?

03 March 2008, 10:29 AM
looking cool Samar, I love that mustache. Awesome. :)

03 March 2008, 10:57 AM
Ha ha, that mustache rocks, he looks badass, reminds me of the King of kings !

03 March 2008, 01:46 PM
stumbled apon the thread today ( i know, kinda late ) this character is unbelievable. I wish you the best of luck, and cannot find a single piece of insight to give you. You've thought of everything already.

03 March 2008, 06:05 PM

03 March 2008, 06:57 PM
Your modeling is great. I think the head looks a bit old compared to his body, though.
I can't wait to see it textured and posed, I think it will be high up on the list of entries.
I wanna see the low res model too, it should be interesting to compare with the hi res.

Great job!

03 March 2008, 09:20 PM
congratulation on finishing the modelling. it's looking cool but i think the head has too many wrinkles compared with the rest of the anatomy.

03 March 2008, 09:48 PM
Geez man, totally inspiring work!

03 March 2008, 09:50 PM
Very very nice model  You make the whole CGS proud!

03 March 2008, 09:57 PM
brilliant work!!
now to move all that detail onto 9000 tris!

Cool Model
Looks like he could also play a mean base guitar for GWAR too!

03 March 2008, 11:28 PM
Looks like Sean Connery to me! Almost can hear his Scottish accent! =D
One note: the extreme symetry of the legs is boring. Maybe some little diferences could be nice!

03 March 2008, 12:29 AM
That's just a gorgeous amount of detail. Well done! I agree with Perin - he reminds me of Sean Connery too. I also agree with nikudy and joed - it seems a bit mismatched how rugged, leathery, and wrinkled his face is compared to his perfectly smooth body. It would be nice to see one or the other adjusted to that they work better together. But anyhow, great stuff so far!

03 March 2008, 01:22 AM
thanx for the replies people .just wanna clear some of ur doubts:banghead: :P

1. the face has more wrinkles becoz its UVs wont be scaled that much that u can put desired amount of detail in the 2048 map:banghead: .

2. the legs r meant to b symmterical coz already the torso and hands r on asymm. so its obvious that i cant keep the legs on asymm in order to make the details pop out in 2k map i have to keep them on symm.:wise:

3. and last but not the least.
i think u poeple forgot that the weapon is also included in a 2048 map.:deal:

03 March 2008, 01:32 AM
 GAWWWD DAAYUMNN!...shit man, this mofos gonna crack open some skulls, really dude this is epic :thumbsup::thumbsup:

03 March 2008, 03:35 AM
Pretty good doesn't even cut it here. That's sublime work on the details, Samar! Way to go!

(What else can be said really?) I mean c.... man, this is sweet!

03 March 2008, 02:34 PM
Amazing updates oO

03 March 2008, 05:51 PM
this looks fantastic. the only thing i would say is that the level of detail in the face exedes that of the rest of the body. boy i wish i had your problems :)

03 March 2008, 07:35 PM
Pure wow, looking excellent already :)

03 March 2008, 09:08 PM
love the detail and the over all design ,, very astheticly pleasing.

03 March 2008, 09:26 PM
what can I say? Impressive!

03 March 2008, 10:22 PM
Yep thats the biggest challenge, to put all that detail into the 2k map and still hold the ground. But none the less, you have come this far and it's looking superb. I can't wait to see the texturing and the transfer to lowpoly, cheers.

03 March 2008, 12:48 AM

no more to say.

03 March 2008, 02:33 AM
Looking good- looking forward to the game res version.

03 March 2008, 03:36 PM
your desgin and detail modle really really hurt my heart(into my heart?)!
that it is wonderful i see,
the detail ,the design, just make me surprise!

03 March 2008, 03:58 PM
this looks fantastic. the only thing i would say is that the level of detail in the face exedes that of the rest of the body. boy i wish i had your problems :)

Nods to Red on that note. The face looks grizzled and you can almost feel the texture of his scared and old skin. You could probably add more definition to the rest of the body to complement the face and the rest of your work, Samar. It might just add an extra Hmmph to the punch we felt when we all looked at your character. ;)

03 March 2008, 09:32 PM
thanx guyz.. i see u people r pushin me to add more detail on the torso:rolleyes:.
well here it is :twisted::P
i spent some time sculpting the tosro and adding fats. i will add some wounds and cuts too. to make em look more badass. meanwhile i started with the lowres too..and abt to finish it soon.
the lowres is not final yet coz i havent optimized it. will be posting the final version of the lowres tommorow.
herez the updates so far.
currently the tri count is 8700 coz i havent optimized it yet.

03 March 2008, 09:57 PM
Looking awesome Samar. I like the fat you added to the torso and the low poly is looking nice as well Looking forward to the update of the final low poly.

03 March 2008, 10:16 PM
Looking good, samar ;) I've been watching the progress and this dude is definitely looking fierce man. Cant wait to see the final game res. Good luck!

03 March 2008, 12:50 AM
Does he have a weapon? How many tris will that be?

Looking great, can't wait to see the low res normal mapped.

03 March 2008, 06:51 AM
This is one of my very favorites. I wish you best of luck and I cannot wait to see this textured. I'll be checking back frequently!

03 March 2008, 07:57 PM
Cool work. Love the necklace made of bone particularly. He looks ready to kick butt. Nice weight to him and gooid topology.

03 March 2008, 05:15 AM
wicked details man, I especially like what you did with the face

03 March 2008, 12:06 PM
I love it, especially armor on his right arm :)

Good luck

03 March 2008, 11:45 AM
really nice sculpting and topology. good luck

03 March 2008, 12:45 PM
sweet sculpting work, and indeed, as said before, nice toplogy, it shades really nicely. cant wait to see the textures! :D Keep up the good work!

03 March 2008, 10:11 AM
Well ? everybodies anxious for a new update !

03 March 2008, 03:01 PM
m alive peopleeeeeeeeeeeeeee. it aint over :P... was messing around with the lowpoly and xraxting *&^&ing AO maps.. but somehow managed to get things done.. i was done yestrday night with the updates and it was 4 AM. so was too lazy to upload them..:P
sow herez the update.
its 8998 tris including the weapon.and the maps r 2048 its not final mesh coz i will still optimize and add tris where needed, the weapon's hammer is in progress so will xarct the maps asap.

03 March 2008, 03:14 PM
coool! hasnt been checking for a week and you have such inspirational stuff . really love the details. cant wait for the textures! keep it up!

03 March 2008, 05:00 PM
OMF! YOU'RE STILL ALIVE! Absolutely amazing work so far! Time for you to wrap this up and take the challenge by storm!

03 March 2008, 05:40 PM
that is looking pretty darn good, I like the presentation and the render style, not to mention the quality translation between hi and low. .

Well done.

03 March 2008, 06:07 PM
I have to WoW.

03 March 2008, 07:10 PM

03 March 2008, 10:28 AM
that's some serious amazing stuff man, inspirational!!! you managed to translate everything to the lowres really well!! i cant wait to see it textured!!! i can already see you in the top 50!

03 March 2008, 11:05 AM
That is awesome stuff...Just saw your thread and it's awesome detailing..Love the sculpting on the model, and the anatomy..The low res is as good as the high res.How do you generate AO maps for your high res? You've just inspired me to work harder :)

03 March 2008, 12:05 PM
oh yes now we're rocking..great to see it all transfered so nicely. How did you make your occlusion map? Looks very clean and clear.

03 March 2008, 01:03 PM
The normal mapped figure looks amazing. I didn't know how well the hi-res would tansfer to a low-res model, but you pulled it off very well.

Once textured, this guy should definitely be in the top 50.

03 March 2008, 01:08 PM
awesome how the normal maps turned out, really flawless :) maybe 1 thing, if you optimise maybe the little skulls, and put a few extra cuts in the lower leg armor, it would make a bit more jagged siluette there, but anyway, its one of my favourite entrys so far thats for sure :applause:

03 March 2008, 01:41 PM
vry nice. As some say normal map is flawless! Top 5!!

Anyways, weapon looks too feminine right now. Nice curves and very soft ends..:P

03 March 2008, 01:47 PM
sorry double post

03 March 2008, 02:53 PM
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss the deadline is increased..i went to bed just as i came to know that deadline is been increased by 5 days.hehehe
thanks people for the kind replies appriciate that.
@ DDS..- na man..m not thinkin abt top 5 or top 10.. m tryin for top 50. coz there r a lotta people like u who r in my way for top 10.hehehe
and yeah the weapon is lookin smooth and genric coz i havent detailed them in zbrush.. will do it after m done with the texture for the body.

well i made i quick tutorial on how i xracted the AO maps for my character coz for normal maps i used Xnormal. hope it'll be helpful for u guyz.

03 March 2008, 08:29 PM
Nice job. Really.

My Dominance War III

03 March 2008, 09:09 PM
Very useful man, thanks a lot!!

03 March 2008, 10:36 PM
sorry double post, sever problems

03 March 2008, 10:40 PM
impressiv your work on him,

interesting to me is how did you get a over 12 millionen mesh into 3ds max ? my max is crashing if i want to do import meshes like this resolution...or simple said more as 1 million polys and my max is down ^^. my next question is: your crossing and overlapping many times, did this work? mostly there are many errors by projection for example normal bumps.

03 March 2008, 11:21 PM
samarchz - thank you! this is amazing!

03 March 2008, 03:29 AM
Great updates - as always.
Also cheers for sharing your method.

03 March 2008, 03:50 AM
thanx for the comments guyz. m glad that it was helpful for u people.

well if the mesh is too high the default wavefront obj importer of max doesnt work.for this purpose i use another obj importer " gwo obj importer " which can import millions of polygons in max, but it depends on ur system config.
well i found that it doesnt matter if the cage is overlapping other fingers i just crank up the value so that there no surface left outside the cage. i know it makes no sense but it works .just try it u'll find it out.

herez the plugin
m attaching the plugin with this post. hope it might help u.the installation information is within the .rar file.

03 March 2008, 06:00 AM
Hey man I got to give you props for this model, well executed

03 March 2008, 11:30 AM

Now thats way too cool man!.Damn!! thats some character.

and thanks for the tutorial & the Plug-in link.

God bless.

03 March 2008, 07:41 PM
hi samar, thank you this is verry usefull to me because i drive crazy by importing crunched objs from 6 to 1,5 million and max is crashing although.

really good info with this raycasting cage, works this with other maps too?`normal bump for example without bad results?

i think you have a realy good chance of top 10 or top 5 if you ask me.

see ya

03 March 2008, 01:50 PM
Very nice plugin ! I really like the tutorial too ! are you gonna rig it ?

03 March 2008, 02:56 PM
very nice transfer with the normals/AO, looking forward to the colormap:scream:

04 April 2008, 04:48 PM
Hi, first of all, great job man!

My questions is:

In AO, do you use 256 Samples and Spread you use 2 and In Max Dist 0. So, I use often in max Dist 30 and in Spread1, whats the diference in this case? other question, How many time was rendering this yours maps?

Keep this excelent job! 5Stars for me!

Best regarts!
Alessandro Lima

04 April 2008, 05:02 PM
amazing, just amazing man!
thx a lot for this obj plugin, it´ll be very helpfull

thanx for the comments guyz,,
m glad that the link and the tutorial helped u.

diff. is just the quality, more the samples better the quality and more expensive rendering.

herez a texture update on the lowerbody. still workin on it. no seams fixed yet. no opacity maps, even the specular is just a rough map.m testing the maps in unreal engine.
herez some screenshots. hope u like it.

04 April 2008, 11:31 PM
Holy Hell man!?! How much space did these pictures take up on imageshack!?! I might have had a slow connection at the time or something, but it took for flippin' ever to download!

10 minutes later....

Looking really tight for game engine! I really love the back area of his legs and the side of his thighs. They translate really nicely onto the low poly and the textures you've applied totally make them pop. The only part, for me, that doesn't translate as well are the armor slats on his calves and the design on the front of his thigh. Now from a distance, in game, it would look amazing. Up close in the gigantor terabyte renders, they just flatten out a bit to0 much if you know what I mean. They look awesome as crap, but upclose, they lose the effect you had from the highpoly. Once you dial in your specularity levels in your map, I think that will really help these areas and give them the depth they deserve.

Texturing is looking really solid and dirty as all get out. Looking forward to the arm and torso updates!

04 April 2008, 10:58 AM
Your character amazing! I like details and textures is very cool!

04 April 2008, 03:04 PM
Coming out very nicely Samar..............:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Waiting to see the completed version of chandaal.............grt texturing toooo

04 April 2008, 03:19 PM
amazing samar!
after the specular and some unreal engine shadder it´ll be for sure in the top 10 :)
btw, to have any kinda of tutorial on how to use unreal engine shadders?

04 April 2008, 04:05 PM
great texturing Samar though I'm not a skulls fan I have to say the work's wicked :) Keep it up and best of luck

04 April 2008, 05:46 PM
Textures are looking good so far nice detail

04 April 2008, 07:18 PM
Oh, right, that's why I was waiting to see the textures for this guy: Because I knew they were just going to rock! The only thing I have to suggest - and I really should wait 'til you have the whole body together and we can see it as a whole - is that everything reads as a similar value. The red, the grey metal, even the dirty skulls, all tend towards a really similar level of shininess, grime level, and overall value. Small on screen, I would worry that this might read as mush. It may not be that important - when we see the whole body, I'm sure the skin will pop and that might be your whole goad. Just thought I'd bring it up now.

but anyhow, really fantastic work. Love the details, and love how you've incorporated the logo. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

04 April 2008, 08:45 PM
Incredible work. This is one of the best low-poly model I've ever seen.

Your tutorial for the AO is great and useful, but when I try, It's not working properly. The rendering is done with max default lightning. Is there an option to check, or do you had lights in your scene? And what kind of lights in this case. Thanks in advance for your answer. ;)

Keep up the great work

04 April 2008, 08:46 PM
thanx for the comments people.great to see some feedback too.
herez some more scrrenshots of the textures ,still no detailed spec map n stuff.
so its a rough texture till this stage ,m lookin forward to complete the texturinf today so that i can move further. feel free for critics,
i imported the model in the GOW game engione just for fun. here r some screenshots. was just messing around with unreal.

04 April 2008, 09:42 PM

04 April 2008, 09:28 AM

04 April 2008, 10:19 AM
F'in A....there you go again..making me wana thorugh you off a cliff , really pushing all of us with these sweet ass unreal pics .....great stuff dude

04 April 2008, 12:03 PM
Amazing work man ! what's up with his forehead ?

04 April 2008, 03:45 PM
Nice!!!how you can create export in unreal engine????

04 April 2008, 03:54 PM
Wow! Great stuff in here!
Screens from gow are truly amazing!

04 April 2008, 11:50 AM
hey smarcbz great model i like it a lot i think this year cgtalk will rule the dominance war :D :P i have one question what is your computer configuration that you was able to burn all this normals in max
:applause: great job

04 April 2008, 01:47 PM
Your in game screenshots rock. The textures need work for sure but like you mentioned its just a start so I will wait to see what you come up with. Keep up the great work.

04 April 2008, 02:07 PM
Amazing work. The hi-res translated quite well to the low poly model.
The textures so far look really good too.
Is there a seem at the top/back of his head? or is that supposed to be like a light/streak of white?
and the same for his forehead: is that suppose to be bright white (or light emitting from his head)?

If that is what you are going for, I think some more work needs to be done, bc without a description that part of the head can look like a mistake.

Also, if at all possible I think the axe blade can use a few more tri's (to create more of a curved surface) and to match the amazing quality of the character. I know this may not be possible, but maybe you can take some tri's from the handle or another area of the weapon.

Great job!!

04 April 2008, 03:23 PM

just plain old sick.

in a good way of course.

deadly model man. and uber awesomeness with the GOW screens too.

04 April 2008, 05:23 PM
thats totally amazing man!
and the character just fit inside the game, looks like it was made for it hehehe!
great job!
btw, can you post some tutorials or something like that, just to show how to import the mesh and textures inside the unreal editor? itll be really helpfull!
thanks man and great job so far!

04 April 2008, 12:49 AM

04 April 2008, 11:17 AM

04 April 2008, 01:41 PM
great finish. I've been waiting to see how this all turned out....good job

04 April 2008, 03:12 PM
This just rocks, Samar- I mean, this guy is just "bad-ass" personified. I love the final changes you made, everything reads so crisply, and I have no doubt that in the end you will be rewarded for your efforts... I mean aside from the reward of having done this thing and having him in your portfolio now. Just a great job!

04 April 2008, 04:34 PM
congratulations! a very stong entry. i enjoyed watching your progress through the comp. good luck

04 April 2008, 05:03 PM
Did you inspire completely on that character from the movie: BareWolf?

I like your textures, good job, but your own creative design I couldn’t find it, I hope you can get it soon because you colors and textures are so good.

04 April 2008, 05:41 PM
