View Full Version : DWIII - 3D - amcmahon - Fulgrim

Ok, I've finalized my initial concept idea and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll probably do a few more sketch ideas but I think this is what I'm going with. Hope you like it. :)
Race: Saborian - Part man, part Sabertooth that dwell in mountainous regions
Artifact: Pyroclese - A gauntlet infused with a special artifact "The Heart of Saboria" that grants it's wielder the power to conjure and control fire among other abilities.

After some rough thumbnails and some sketches I thought I'd post what little I have right now. This is my first DW and it's proving to be tougher than I expected to come up with something I'm really happy with. Part of the problem is a lot of my ideas I'm seeing in other peoples threads. I'm partial to undead but I've seen a lot of undead so I'll probably steer clear of that. I'm bummed right now as I grew partial to my humanoid cat sketch but saw someone in another forum doing something VERY similar. I'm still leaning towards that one as it all comes down to execution in the end and there are so many people that there's bound to be bits and pieces of everyone's ideas that will seem familiar. I want a good portion of the character to be organic as well so I'm trying to be selective in my armor coverings.
Anyway I'm going to keep plugging away at ideas and refining some of the ideas I've already come up with. Keep checking back for more and let's win this one for CGTalk!

Nevermind. :) I had to upload it and save changes before I could link it. That worked.
>I was wondering how people are getting their images to display in the post as opposed to the thumbnails? I tried the insert image button but it only allows browser links and I couldn't get it to work even after uploading my image.

Sorry it's been so long since my last post but I finally have something to show. It still has a long way to go but I'm happy with how it's turning out so far. Hope you like it. :)
These first shots are just a base mesh I made to go into ZBrush. I'll be retopologizing the mesh in the end so I wasn't too particular about the initial build.

Now for some of the detail work.

very nice work up to this point. my only suggestion would be to chisel him out a little more. Right now hes very soft and could prolly beinif from some surface detailing. Keep up the good work

man, your 3d face is so amaising. great attention to detail !
I cant wait to see this one finnished,
I have two comments other then that..
is he going to have a tail ?
and I think his hips are a bit thin, but I also realize that cat hind legs and hips are of thin propotions, so it has a cool effect, I think either way it might work.. just wondering if you played around with the hips at all to find the best suited proportions ?
keep up the great stuff !

Thanks for the crits HyperSasquatch. The overall physique is purposely done to stylize him a bit more. I have the finished high res I just haven't posted the pics yet. I'll do that asap. I got hit with so much the last month that my progress went way down on this guy so I'm gonna be burning the midnight oil to finish him up. :) As I'm sure a lot of people will be. I'm glad you like it though. That gives me encouragement to finish! I'm gonna wrap up the low res this weekend and get to painting! :D

Nice job on the details and especially the musculature. Have you cut the big mane that was in your original concept painting, or are you just going to add it in later as it doesn't necessarily need to be ZBrushed? And how come he doesn't have a tail? :)
Anyhow, good luck with the finishes!

I am loving every detail in the muscles, is it zbrush or modbox? They look spectacular! And your character looks like a sure winner! all the design does play well personality, and warrior main character mood! well done, and best of luck with the rest :)

lookin good! i think you should give him a lion tail! and i also think you should take out the cape and make it one big dragon wing instead :-D

Hehe thanks for the crit guys. I would love to experiment more but I ran into some busy work
that I didn't foresee and am scrambling to finish now. I just updated the high res shots. Hope you like them. I wanted to keep a good balance between feline and human so I left out the tail. Plus with the cape and hair I was afraid of poly count issues.
Axelalonso, I use Zbrush 3.1 for my sculpt. I should have the low poly with normals very soon then hopefully I can get him painted and rendered in time. I have to go out of town before the deadline so I have to finish asap.
Hmmm last night the images I updated were up but now they are gone. I'll give it a day to see if they come back before I try and repost. Not sure what's wrong.
