Here's the first set of thumbnails for my DWIII. I'm going to do these for a while, and not try and design anything, just let it flow. The only thing I'm kind of solid on is that the character will be female.

Trying out the idea of my character wearing a demonic cloak which expands her abilities.
these are some nice concepts

I love the last one, it feels very organic. The way the legs web like the roots of a tree.

thanks for the comments!
I took the last two concepts and overlayed them in photoshop, then painted over it. I like the chaotic sillouette that resulted. If I can get a design that combines a femine design and a brutal demonic design together, I think I'll be happy. I don't want a 50/50 female/demon split, I want both designs to be intertwined but destinct and strong. This design is tending towards an asian style demonic look, which I dig.

I wanted to try that Neuveau style swirl of forms, but snakes and tentacles are overdone, so I went with tongues.

It still looks like tentacles to me, especially if you just glance at it. It's a cool design, but it would seem like she would cut herself too easily while swinging her swords around. something to think about.
All your concepts so far are quite good and each one would make for a bad*ss character. Keep it up man!

simply inspiring. Now I begin to see the true usefulness of such competitions as this. My head is bursting with new possibilities! Time to slow things down a notch and do some more iterations myself.
Excellent quick thumbs, man. Very cool.

Looking great, keep it up. I know what you are saying about overdone tentacles. I love the assassin body style you got goin on with her. Taki on steroids with some crazy sea life coming out of her. I was looking at that headress on the first intital concept sheet. That may look cool with those tongues... Ill be checking back often.

I think I'm edging up on what I want. In this one, she is wearing a demon, his body is wrapped around hers sho that it mimmics her movement. I like the fact that the demon seems ready to devour her, but her confident pose shows that she is in control. Anyways, I'll do another one like this with a better pose and some of the elements from the earlier sketchs.

Great concepts - Love the tenticle/tongue one. Especially the coral-ish shoulder pads!

I like the very first one best. The vortex of darkness behind her head is cool.
they are all so good, but i would choose the one where you overlayed the two ideas
the latter one with the tentacles doesn't give off enough of a sense of power, but more elegance, as does the last one. whereas i feel intimidated by the potential magic that she may have with the overlayed design, perhaps you can refine the major elements in it but still keep that feel

Looking awesome... overall, you concepts do have power of lines.
and have splendid ideas all over the place.. keep brainstorming sketch..
and I want to see your 3d model soon.~

This one is more a complete imagining of the previous drawing. The female anatomy is a photo-paintover.
This witch uses a demonic familiar as transport and defence. Protected from physical attack, the witch is free to focus on spellcraft. Each mount is custom crafted by the witch of this order, so no two are the same. The skin of the demon, which is hard and bonelike on the outer extremeties, is covered in soft velvet fur where it touches it's rider.
I like this one, though I would like to intergrate more decorative elements into the design.

By the time you see Gozer, it's so built up that when you see ishe's this 80's white-lace demon chick, it really works... Gozer...
Taehoon: Thanks man! It means alot to hear that from you :) This last drawing took longer that the quick ones I'd been doing, but I think I'll go back to quick ones a while longer.
Riu and others: Yah, I think I'll push the tentacles or whatever back to a real minor element, not the major one in that drawing. I want a design that has a powerful, elegant sillouette, and I dont think I'll get it from tentacles.
Thanks all for the comments. This is fun, to design exclusively to my own tastes, and not for work.
