*raise eyebrow*
Watch out for us elves.... ;)

Oh wait, we're on the same team! Just like Gimli and Legolas. *grin*

Good luck to you too, Jassar, and May the best CGTalker win !

02-17-2008, 06:23 PM
Well LavenPillay, ironically, my character will not be an elf nor dwarf :D I'm thinking (or sketching really) of a warewolf warlord, strong an scary enough to be the leader of warewolf-packs that have no mercy upon their enemies!
He is a mutant of some sort, bred to be the strongest of all warewolves, probably a mix of warewolf and Orc ( now that's cool huh? )...
Wolves usually hate fire, but since he has that Orcish blood in him I'm thinking of making his energy type of fire/lava.
Fire goes well with our forum colors too :)

I'll be posting some sketches when I have something cool to show.

02-17-2008, 07:26 PM
Sound interesting character you are planing to do here my friend :D

waiting to see your first concept ... this will be a war to the death ^^

Good luck Jassar, and May the best CGTalker win !

02-17-2008, 07:39 PM
Concept sounds interesting, go tear 'em apart!

02-17-2008, 08:15 PM
Thanks guys :)
Here's a rough ( very rough ) sketch. I want the armor to be bigger of course. The first name option is Nardeeb ( nar= fire, deeb= wolf in arabic)
You can see him wearing the forum's red and black banner on his shoulders ... ^_^

More "better" sketches are on the way. Also, I'm not sure if I should give him a helmet?

02-17-2008, 08:22 PM
Jassar, shake the ground! Ha ha! :bounce:

My best wishes.

02-17-2008, 08:39 PM
Thanks KU2GUN :buttrock:

02-18-2008, 06:04 AM
Very, very nice.

Just one thing tho.
At first glance at his head/face, the impression i got was of a reptilian face.
So if i hadn't read your backstory, I might've thought it was a draconian race.

Just mentioning in case that helps clean up the final.

Maybe raise the part of the skull above the eyebrows a bit so the head is less flat ?
And/or add a ruff of hair around his neck or going down his back a bit ?

But its lookin' great and I recommend not adding a helm.

And Nardeeb has a nice "ancient" sound to it. I likes.

02-18-2008, 11:50 AM
nice start :)

Although i agree with LavenPillay ... same feeling here

it is rough sketch , so you can do adjustment now ... i suggest to make him more musculature sense he looks thin for the time been .

good luck...

02-18-2008, 01:48 PM
Thanks for the great notes guys :)
I will make him more "wolf" but with a twist.
Here's the summary of my character:-

Name: Nardeeb
Race: hybred between warewolf and orc
Class: warlord
Artifact: not sure yet, probably a huge staff with pointy things sticking out of it..
Magic/energy: Fire

02-18-2008, 03:35 PM
nice work ..

good luck...

02-18-2008, 03:37 PM
Ok, tell me which head looks better>>>

A or B?

02-18-2008, 03:41 PM
personally B for sure...

02-18-2008, 03:42 PM
I honestly like B
dont know why, just seemes more evil I guess :)

02-18-2008, 03:52 PM
haha! good luck jassar! and may CGS slay its enemys without mercy! :D

I honestly like B
dont know why, just seemes more evil I guess :) it looks more original and cooler? :D so, uhh.. yeah id too say B!

02-18-2008, 04:30 PM
Cool! I'll base my design on concept B then :)

02-18-2008, 07:33 PM
yeah B was definately better, it was more human with the high nosed bridge, and less dog like, but it gave the facial structure more depth and interest, and gave it more of a scowling look

02-19-2008, 05:00 PM
Ok, so now to the weapon. I'm not sure what to choose: long and slim or short and bulky?
I'm leaning toward the short and bulky.

02-19-2008, 09:13 PM
Ok, the weapon sketches were not that interesting, here's another one for the armor.
More stuff are to be added I hope.

As you can see I didn't make him very bulky, I don't want him to turn into a Tauron lol.
any ideas for the armor?

02-19-2008, 09:51 PM
Nice going Jassar!

I think he can use some more wolf like features.
Maybe a slightly longer snout and a wolfs nose.
Also an idea is to give his legs the anatomy of a wolfs leg (walking on it's toes) and not humanoid.

02-20-2008, 06:04 AM
b looks badass.. great stuff.

02-20-2008, 09:26 AM
Great stuff you have here my friend... nice going man

I like the expression on his face ... nice posing also ^^
those armor give him nice evil look too

but, i think there is something missing here ! ... where is the left leg ? :curious:
also the left arm form need more attention ...

For the weapon try other shapes you will come across something more interesting

Keep going like that

02-20-2008, 10:01 AM
Art2, good points. I will change his legs and see what happenes.

samarcbz, thanks man :buttrock:

phoenix, hey man thanks! these are just initial draft sketches, that's why I didn't focus much on his other leg and arm ( his other leg would be almost like the other so why bother with it? )
I will draw both of his legs in the final sketches of course :D

02-20-2008, 10:40 AM
try using bones for armors.. I thing it'll work well for this character :D

My DW (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=234&t=597980)
My Deviantart (http://numioh.deviantart.com/)

02-20-2008, 01:00 PM
Yeah I guess I can make some iron parts of his armor shaped as bones :)

02-21-2008, 09:01 PM
Color test #1:

02-21-2008, 09:08 PM
no comment ..

very very nice ..

02-21-2008, 10:16 PM
man your style is rock! :bounce:

is this is a draft also :arteest:!!!

02-21-2008, 10:17 PM
I love your character and your style of drawing/painting I can't wait to see more.

02-22-2008, 12:11 PM
Many thanks guys :)

phoenix, yes this is also a draft/ color test. I might change some colors and see what happenes.

The toe's armor is bugging me a bit and i will change those too ( it's damn hard giving small toes a decent looking armor :scream: )

02-23-2008, 10:12 AM
Reminds me of the Tauren race in WOW, but I like the design, keep up the great job!

02-23-2008, 12:38 PM
SashaP, thanks.

More sketches:

another hair-style test ( more to come )

02-23-2008, 12:40 PM
Awesome, nice details, looks real cool:thumbsup:

02-23-2008, 03:40 PM
hey man ... you participated here at last, nice to see your submission around :)

I didn't know yet what exactly the competiton talks about ... but your work here is a strong piece my friend ...

just wanted to say hello, and wish a greet luck this time ^_^

02-23-2008, 03:57 PM
Your concept is badass. Very little to crit. I was just staring at your pic and wondering what seemed out of place. The wolf is green. Not saying this is out of place though, just a nice change. You should retain the old armor around the legs because it just fits nicely with the whole grundge feel. The new one makes him look lankier. The new hair IMO is better because it makes him seem more regal. Post more soon!

02-23-2008, 04:28 PM
I agree with StacyOgie about the hair; it looks good. You don't see many characters with braids, so keep working that angle.

02-23-2008, 07:31 PM
madshooter, thanks :)

maxspider3000, can't wait to see u aboard too!

StacyOgie, yes I gave him a greenish hue to have something new, and to show how strong the orc-wolf blend really is.

Swizzle, true! I liked him with braids... he seemed more evil

more sketches coming soon!

02-25-2008, 05:04 PM
Suh-weeet like an apple !
Dude the color test passed with flying ..... *wince* colors.

You really made him look-n-feel like a wolf-orc hybrid (don't wanna ask about the family tree tho....).

I'm tempted to say that you should still make the snout more canine (pointing up and outwards), but the face right now is an important, constant reminder of his orc-blood.

I think with the decorations and hair and stuff, you can get the wolf-aspect going quite nicely too.

Shoulder pads : I really liked the ones on his left shoulder in the pencil sketch. Makes it feel more tribal, and suggests that he makes them out of creatures he's overcome in battle.

Oh, right : Battle! Dont forget scars !!

Legs : Maybe just add some hair on the lower parts of the leg, like you have on the elbow. But more.

Its gonna be a good one!

02-25-2008, 07:21 PM
LavenPillay, very good points! I will keep them in mind :)

I caught a nasty cold and I'm a bit shaky and dizzy  but I've managed to do another sketch :)
---- a side view....

I like the metal spine thing, it's been on my mind for too long

02-27-2008, 03:19 AM
looking great, hey!

keep going, no crits at this moment. :)

02-27-2008, 11:28 AM
awesome work jassar
keep going .........

02-27-2008, 01:02 PM
keep going... don't let that cold stop you :)

Nice progress ... wait to see more.

02-27-2008, 07:22 PM
Hey guys thanks :) , I'm feeling better today... and I have a new sketch!

I like this weapon so I'll stay with it. What do u think?

02-28-2008, 01:16 AM
No crits...I love it and that weapons pretty sweet looking. I can dig it.

02-28-2008, 08:39 AM
maybe the handle bit could be a little longer?
not much though, as i think having the blade look/be big fits the character quite nicely! :)

or maybe make both the handle longer and make the main/'tip' part of the tri-blade be bigger, too? :D

02-29-2008, 11:23 AM
Weapon --> Cool !!

It immediately reminded me of a native American totem pole!

Maybe you could modify it or incorporate that kinda idea into it ?
Like as if they continue to modify their weapons as they get older/more experienced/survive more battles ?

Nice one, dude!

02-29-2008, 12:15 PM
nice concepts, dude!!Have you experimented to work on silhouettes to define volumes, shapes etc..?!
Im following the thread

02-29-2008, 12:43 PM
Many thanks for the encouragment guys :)

maybe the handle bit could be a little longer?
and make the main/'tip' part of the tri-blade be bigger, too?

I sure will!

Maybe you could modify it or incorporate that kinda idea into it ?
Like as if they continue to modify their weapons as they get older/more experienced/survive more battles ?

Sounds like a cool idea to me, gotta try it.

nice concepts, dude!!Have you experimented to work on silhouettes to define volumes, shapes etc..?!

At the moment I'm focusing on the design, after that I will work on the model sheet, then I will choose a pose and start the real work.... painting!

Cheers :buttrock:

03-06-2008, 06:13 AM
Wow .. It's really impressive work ..
Good luck ..

03-06-2008, 12:00 PM

03-07-2008, 01:28 PM
Hi guys!

Here's the front view of my character. I've done some changes on the armor but he generally looks the same.

http://uploader.polorix.net//files/316/Finished Work/Nardeeb-front-temp1.jpg

Hit me with any notes you can possibly think of! it's now or never!

03-07-2008, 02:53 PM
I love the way the creature looks he already has personality to him I love it.

03-08-2008, 07:06 AM
I also like B, but I think you should keep the upward pointing lower fang from A. Nice work so far.

sorry i replied after only looking at the first page...guess i've been at my computer too long today. Lookin good.

03-08-2008, 09:34 AM
Ok, doin some adjustments and adding some stuff to the front view. I also might finish the weapon today.

03-08-2008, 02:31 PM
Ur update is really cool...........coming out very nicely

May be u can emboss those skulls on hi knees and armor a little more to give it more dimension

Keep coming

03-08-2008, 06:57 PM

I will make another "glowing with fire" image.
Stay tuned!

03-09-2008, 03:43 PM

Good luck Jassar :applause:
Keep up good work :)

03-20-2008, 10:59 AM
cool , actually i think that you have to raise his head a little , his shoulders are a little bet high , or maybe it's my eyes :wise: , you know
and the horns on his shoulder are little bet tall , cool , keep on working

PS : liked the CG emblem :D , and the character is Original and new in concept , liked that too .

03-21-2008, 11:32 AM
Well done, Keep it up!

03-21-2008, 03:08 PM
Hey guys :)
Here's my final pose ( I did many poses but liked this one the most )

There will be wolves charging forward in high speed , and fire :)

03-21-2008, 10:36 PM
Hey Jassar, I really like the design on the armor for your character, really cool. (He looks very solid and powerful, great :D) And like a lot your final pose, very dynamic, cool!! ( maybe you need to rotate a bit to the front to put the weight on his left foot, dont need to change anything, only rotate. Only a comment :) ). Again, superb work my friend!! Cheers!!

03-21-2008, 11:11 PM
Nice design! It's coming along well so far! Beofre you call this final, you might want to think about giving another shot to the leg pose. Something where they're spread apart more might help ive hiom a stronger, more easily readible silhouette. Good luck!

03-22-2008, 04:34 PM
Ferx, thanks man :)
walrus, true! I will fix it.
Thanks for the support guys.

03-22-2008, 04:44 PM
Hey Jassar, nice drawing. I like the action and movement in your work.

03-23-2008, 01:49 PM
Good luck to you, though I don't think you'll need it

Oh Stacy trust me I think I do need it :)

Updates coming soon...

03-24-2008, 02:00 PM
Hey Jassar!
Your character looks great and I like the pose, but I don't know if I wanted to be anywhere
close to him, he looks very angry and very pissed! A mean warrior!
Keep up, my friend!

03-24-2008, 06:30 PM
An update :)

03-25-2008, 09:12 PM
OK, I need all the crits I could have before calling this one finished :) , there are some things that need extra touching ( like the red glow on his body ), but if u spot anything strange ( which I know there is) please tell me.

03-25-2008, 09:35 PM
Perfect , go ahead my HERO ...

03-25-2008, 10:29 PM
now it starts looking FINISHED !

however, am feeling that the colors are still a little bit strange in some areas

Great work...keep going and goog luck :applause:

03-26-2008, 06:59 PM
Thanks guys for the comments :)

I've done some fixes and worked some more on it, please tell me what you think:

03-27-2008, 07:13 AM
Action fictitious brother jassar

Very great

03-27-2008, 08:14 PM
Thanks Alsweedy :) . still workin so all notes are welcomed.

03-30-2008, 11:30 PM
Hi Jassar, great progress, like the weapon a lot too. He's a cool concept.

03-31-2008, 12:22 AM
This is coming along nicely. One thing you could improve in this image is the lighting. Right now he looks colored, but not like he is in an environment with different lights effecting the different materials of his body and armor. Maybe you could push the yellow rim lighting from the sky more, and let some of the forms sink back into shadow, then reveal them with the red glow from the weapon.

I also agree with Walrus about having a look at the legs. The weapon is creating a bit of an odd tangent with the right foot. I think the pose would look more dynamic if he were rotated a bit, but not so much that he is off balance. It looks a bit like he is about to leap backwards, as if to dodge something. If that's the case, you could play with the pose to communicate that more clearly. If thats not the case, why is his right leg raised? These are just minor quibbles, overall it looks really great!

03-31-2008, 12:56 PM
Thanks for the comment Robert :)

zberry, I see your point, thanks! i will do my best and fix things around.

04-01-2008, 08:00 PM
ٍAn update after working a bit more on the lighting and shadows......

http://uploader.polorix.net//files/316/Finished Work/Nardeeb-pose-test4.jpg

Comments are welcomed folks :)

04-03-2008, 07:24 PM
Ok, so I guess I'm done with my entry ( just need to know what you think ), I might fix some things before submitting it :)
Here they are:

04-04-2008, 08:18 AM
Updated the first post :)

04-07-2008, 03:40 PM
Ok, I did the final adjustments and tweaks ( finaly! ), you can see them on the first post.

04-08-2008, 06:13 PM
Hey Jassar, really cool concept. I like all of your work, really great! :) Perhaps on the model sheet you need to draw a side view only for the arms. Like a lot the concept sheet and the final image, awesome work my friend. Congrats!! (time for beers and tequila shots :D)

04-08-2008, 09:33 PM
Hey Ferx! thanks :)
*** I've added the arms***

04-12-2008, 09:44 AM
