And so it begins!
Thinking of a concept.....

Character summary:
Name: Nardeeb
Race: hybred between warewolf and orc
Class: warlord
Artifact: a huge spear.
Magic/energy: Fire

Well LavenPillay, ironically, my character will not be an elf nor dwarf :D I'm thinking (or sketching really) of a warewolf warlord, strong an scary enough to be the leader of warewolf-packs that have no mercy upon their enemies!
He is a mutant of some sort, bred to be the strongest of all warewolves, probably a mix of warewolf and Orc ( now that's cool huh? )...
Wolves usually hate fire, but since he has that Orcish blood in him I'm thinking of making his energy type of fire/lava.
Fire goes well with our forum colors too :)

I'll be posting some sketches when I have something cool to show.

Here's a rough ( very rough ) sketch. I want the armor to be bigger of course. The first name option is Nardeeb ( nar= fire, deeb= wolf in arabic)
You can see him wearing the forum's red and black banner on his shoulders ... ^_^

More "better" sketches are on the way. Also, I'm not sure if I should give him a helmet?

Very, very nice.

Just one thing tho.
At first glance at his head/face, the impression i got was of a reptilian face.
So if i hadn't read your backstory, I might've thought it was a draconian race.

Just mentioning in case that helps clean up the final.

Maybe raise the part of the skull above the eyebrows a bit so the head is less flat ?
And/or add a ruff of hair around his neck or going down his back a bit ?

But its lookin' great and I recommend not adding a helm.

And Nardeeb has a nice "ancient" sound to it. I likes.

Although i agree with LavenPillay ... same feeling here

it is rough sketch , so you can do adjustment now ... i suggest to make him more musculature sense he looks thin for the time been .

yeah B was definately better, it was more human with the high nosed bridge, and less dog like, but it gave the facial structure more depth and interest, and gave it more of a scowling look

Ok, so now to the weapon. I'm not sure what to choose: long and slim or short and bulky?

Ok, the weapon sketches were not that interesting, here's another one for the armor.
More stuff are to be added I hope.

As you can see I didn't make him very bulky, I don't want him to turn into a Tauron lol.
any ideas for the armor?

Nice going Jassar!

I think he can use some more wolf like features.
Maybe a slightly longer snout and a wolfs nose.
Also an idea is to give his legs the anatomy of a wolfs leg (walking on it's toes) and not humanoid.

those armor give him nice evil look too

but, i think there is something missing here ! ... where is the left leg ? :curious:
also the left arm form need more attention ...

For the weapon try other shapes you will come across something more interesting

phoenix, hey man thanks! these are just initial draft sketches, that's why I didn't focus much on his other leg and arm ( his other leg would be almost like the other so why bother with it? )
I will draw both of his legs in the final sketches of course :D

phoenix, yes this is also a draft/ color test. I might change some colors and see what happenes.

The toe's armor is bugging me a bit and i will change those too ( it's damn hard giving small toes a decent looking armor :scream: )

Your concept is badass. Very little to crit. I was just staring at your pic and wondering what seemed out of place. The wolf is green. Not saying this is out of place though, just a nice change. You should retain the old armor around the legs because it just fits nicely with the whole grundge feel. The new one makes him look lankier. The new hair IMO is better because it makes him seem more regal. Post more soon!

I agree with StacyOgie about the hair; it looks good. You don't see many characters with braids, so keep working that angle.

StacyOgie, yes I gave him a greenish hue to have something new, and to show how strong the orc-wolf blend really is.

Swizzle, true! I liked him with braids... he seemed more evil :twisted:

Suh-weeet like an apple !
Dude the color test passed with flying ..... *wince* colors.

You really made him look-n-feel like a wolf-orc hybrid (don't wanna ask about the family tree tho....).

I'm tempted to say that you should still make the snout more canine (pointing up and outwards), but the face right now is an important, constant reminder of his orc-blood.

I think with the decorations and hair and stuff, you can get the wolf-aspect going quite nicely too.

Shoulder pads : I really liked the ones on his left shoulder in the pencil sketch. Makes it feel more tribal, and suggests that he makes them out of creatures he's overcome in battle.

Oh, right : Battle! Dont forget scars !!

Legs : Maybe just add some hair on the lower parts of the leg, like you have on the elbow. But more.

Its gonna be a good one! :thumbsup:

not much though, as i think having the blade look/be big fits the character quite nicely! :)

or maybe make both the handle longer and make the main/'tip' part of the tri-blade be bigger, too? :D

It immediately reminded me of a native American totem pole!

Maybe you could modify it or incorporate that kinda idea into it ?
Like as if they continue to modify their weapons as they get older/more experienced/survive more battles ?

cool , actually i think that you have to raise his head a little , his shoulders are a little bet high , or maybe it's my eyes :wise: , you know
and the horns on his shoulder are little bet tall , cool , keep on working :thumbsup:

PS : liked the CG emblem :D , and the character is Original and new in concept , liked that too .

Hey Jassar, I really like the design on the armor for your character, really cool. (He looks very solid and powerful, great :D) And like a lot your final pose, very dynamic, cool!! ( maybe you need to rotate a bit to the front to put the weight on his left foot, dont need to change anything, only rotate. Only a comment :) ). Again, superb work my friend!! Cheers!! :beer:

Nice design! It's coming along well so far! Beofre you call this final, you might want to think about giving another shot to the leg pose. Something where they're spread apart more might help ive hiom a stronger, more easily readible silhouette. Good luck!

This is coming along nicely. One thing you could improve in this image is the lighting. Right now he looks colored, but not like he is in an environment with different lights effecting the different materials of his body and armor. Maybe you could push the yellow rim lighting from the sky more, and let some of the forms sink back into shadow, then reveal them with the red glow from the weapon.

I also agree with Walrus about having a look at the legs. The weapon is creating a bit of an odd tangent with the right foot. I think the pose would look more dynamic if he were rotated a bit, but not so much that he is off balance. It looks a bit like he is about to leap backwards, as if to dodge something. If that's the case, you could play with the pose to communicate that more clearly. If thats not the case, why is his right leg raised? These are just minor quibbles, overall it looks really great!
