Finally it's over :D Not exactly what I wanted but I had a blast!

Did some quick doodles on what direction I want to go with this one. Decided on stalker (<3)
Race : Humanoid
Class : Stalker
Artifact : Lightning/Air
Everything else is still being hammered in my brains. Decided to concentrate fleshing out the weapon/artifact first since I feel it's the driving direction on this design :)
On the weapon. The twin blades were crafted to act both as an offensive weapon and a protective shield. The materia/artifact infused in these blades makes them feel incredibly light and enables them to be wielded despite their humongous size.
Still working on the shape and ideas on the artifact. At the moment it's floating in the middle of the blade (rock/crystal shape) but might bring that to something else aswell. We'll see :)
Fleshing out the character+his background story next.

Good start. After all the weapon/artifact is what makes a character who they are(ask cloud >.> heh)...especially in this war it seems.
Shields are underestimated! especially when they are a weapon also! haha. My character is going to duel weild shields...when I start.
Look foward to more.

Added a bit more polish, decided on the artifact and calling the weapon done, any small/minute detail I'll add when modeling. Moving to flesh out the character next!

Beautiful weapon. It seems like an elegant weapon of skill, until you notice the scale of the thing in the quick draft in the bottom right. It's HUGE. I suppose the Lightning/Air aspect would alleviate whatever cumbersome attributes it may have, though.
I look forward to more work!

Fleshing out the character. Some elements are okay and some I'm not really happy with, still needs quite some work :)

Im diggin' this concept man. It has a very strong shape and silhouette. I'm always a sucker for the big arms. Good point about the artifact being key to the design. It should definetly play a big part. looking forward to seeing that finished concept.

I really love the silhoutte. Im skeptical how it is going to animate. With the huge arm ,heavy leg area with a slim torso. But it might add to a great contrast when you start modeling it!

Don't really have million years to spend on this stage so I'm speeding up a little, for me I know all the elements inside out already so the concept is about finished. Any secondary/minute detail I'll just create while modeling :)

Some progress! It's a mixture of previz,lowres and highres, just getting the feel of the character and planning the execution :) still missing some elements from it, including the weapons and such.

Dang! you have been busy. Its looking nice. The shape of the hood/head looks a little off, but i'm sure it will fall into place as you progress. Still waiting for those arms...they make the character for me. Keep it up.

Hehe yeah :D It'll get fixed when I get the final lowpoly mesh there and do some sculpting on it. Next update should be the hands,boots and the weapon. Hopefully this evening after I get home from work :P

Hey and thanks guys :)! I got some ideas for the final pose and stuff and bouncing some ideas I could try with the black hood, but a lot of the effects are hard without using particles (which I think are not allowed even tho all the game engines have their particle systems :P). It's been a busy week but got some progress done. Mostly on the proportions and fixing it towards my initial thumb that got slightly lost in the concept :) Finished up his highres ninja boot too :D mix of zbrush and good ol sub-d :P rest of the detail goes into the texturing pass.

Just some minor updates, finished his leg armor piece and starting the sculpt on his dangely hip armor :D

Thanks for the thumbs :D I'm trying to pace up since I'm missing one week due to holiday :D
I'm still looking out on any of the designs not fitting the feeling but on the other hand I don't really have any extra time to go and tweak too much :P
A small update before I call it a done for the weekend and hit teh bed.
Quick pants while watching 300 :D
Might play around with them later on still but quite ok with it for now.

Hehe yeah I didn't want to really go for a traditional assassins or stalkers :P Wanted something that takes an army for a breakfast and goes home for tea :D Just that he does it in a shady way with a big cool factor ;)

Heyas had some stuff going on but finished up the "base" model for the weapon, now I just need to sculpt the rest of the detail into it. :)

Hey thanks! Quick update got the hardest part over from the weapon.
Did some paint on it to with just ppp. Quite the look im going for, obviously with lighting and specular maps added later on :D

really cool! probbably one of my favorite stalkers yet! my only grip is the hip armor, is it a lion or a wolf im guessing lion cuz the other wolf one is cool so id go find some ref and polish that up a lot more :-D

Thank Heaven I opened this thread! It looks great! Love the details and the overall feel. Your character reminds me of the Nazgul from the Lord of The Rings. Can't wait to see what he will look like at the very end.

Hey and thanks everyone for the positive feedback ! I just wanted to post that I'm still alive :D Unfortunately I was away for over a week and I'm a bit behind but fear not, I'm crunching this through! :) Next update I'll try and get the low poly up and some of the normal maps baked! In the meanwhile I've just about finished all the high poly pieces. The body was a super quick one(maybe 20min...) so it's not as nice for now but I'll try and polish it up a bit more :( Trying to save the maximum amount of time for the actual textures :D

O yeah and the gloves are missing the laces and maybe some deco studs and so forth so bear with me :D The texture is just a quick polypaint just for some testing.

Okay I got 95% of the stuff baked into lowpoly. Here's the leg armor plate piece. Just the base normal and some AO. I'll compile all the pieces together and try and have as much time as I can for the textures in this short amount of time. Cheers!

Really quick update, can see it a little bit better rather than just the headlight.
quick diffuse,spec with a 3pointer from max viewport
the body...compiling it all together atm. Need some sleep for now though :( think thu/fri/sat will be all nighters :D Not giving up this close though!

Woot woot 95% compiled! Still missing some of the minor things, a few belts that were hanging there and the talismans and the chains connected to the weapons are not alligned and done properly yet. Started on some texturing aswell, missing a second AO pass and some stuff but I'm pushing thru :D! Thinking of some poses and some small lightning effects I could do for touchup!

Sh*t, this is really cool. I think this dude would have deserved a better render, but on the other hand this really looks like game art straight from an ingame screenshot.
Character design, colors and material (specially the armor) is top notch!

Despite the entire thing being really cool, the thing that stands out most to me is the head/hood. I really like it. Sort of ornate but still cloaking his face in shadows, giving it the stalker feel. It does kind of remind of a wow rogue, 'on crack' haha. Practicality though a stalker with those giant weapons and shoulder armor would probably be easily spotted >.> but they definately look cool and that's the important thing! haha Good Luck

Heya guys and thanks for the positive feedback! Yeah I wish I had more time to set up the render and lighting and polish up the textures :( All the texture/lighting work was done in a matter of 2-3days. But that's just an excuse bs :P Should have planned better, nothing more (plus not taking a week+ trip in the middle :D).
But overall I'm happy that I got to finish it at decent quality!
Off to the next project haha!
Edit. I'll propably do some polish up and set up a nice render when I upload it to my cgportfolio
