View Full Version : dynamics - my objects wont stop

Hello everyone.

Im working on a small animation. A beveled text is falling to the ground.
the plane (or ground) is passive rigid body. The text is active.
the text does fall nicely and hits the ground.
but for some no apearant reason, after the text falls and hits the ground, it suddenly picks up more "baby bounces" and the text does not stand still.

why does it do that? is there a way to solve it?

thank you!

The reason this happens is Maya's rounding errors. Whats happening is that maya keeps recieving minute values for these "micro" collissions and basiclly the numbers are so small but still not absolute zero which is why it looks like they are vibrating. You can solve this by writing a conditional script where you say for example if the objects are moving slower than a a defined velocity then force the velocity to be zero. This will stop your vibrating problems. I hope this helps.
