I have a couple of ideas at this point and I'll probably decide as a sketch out each idea. Both stem around an elf (or maybe angel) as race and earth/rock as the magic energy type. I'm really liking the idea of a minority from a traditionally "pristine" or "high" race working with a very "low" element. I want to bring this out in the personality of the character as well.

Maybe after generations of being looked down on by more traditional members of their race this is more than an opportunity to save their planet; it's an opportunity for their clan to rise.

Or this time with no machinery/technology has allowed their ways to become more accepted and they seek to actually destroy this technology rather than bring it back to their people.

If I go for female character I'm thinking about an invoker with dirt/rock caked extremities who manipulates the ground around them for offensive attacks. A clericon probably makes more sense but I wanted to make more of an offensive vs defensive character.

If end up going for a male character I'm going for a warlord with a huge blunt weapon (mace or hammer) who doesn't need a shield as they pull and harden the earth around as a form of regenerating armor.

Enough of a sketch to say I did a concept ;). Further concepts will probably be done in ZBrush.

If interested there's a thread on GA ( acting as a FAQ or repository to questions about the comps rules. From the thread I found that if you have multiple characters they can be different classes so I may try to work my male female idea as a warlord/clericon team. Not sure yet.

I decided to try and do the warlord/clericon duo. The weapon will be a enchanted stone mace wielded by the warlord and a possible a dagger or smaller mace for the clericon.

I still have concern about splitting the count between two main characters and at least one prominent weapon. I think I can work it though with the way I'm envisioning the armor. If I can't get decent count then I'll probably end up repurposing the clericon as an invoker with a smaller more ceremonial mace.

Here's the zsphere "armature" I'll be sculpting from. The warlord will definitely be getting more bulk during the first sculpting pass.

Took some time to work on this a little more tonight. Decided to stick with just the female invoker.

Spent some time working with ZBrush's 2D tools... here's another sketch.

And because I'm still a ZBrush noob and fanboy I've uploaded a video of the sketch on Veoh ( :blush:

The mud caked extremities will be significantly exaggerated to create an interesting silhouette and act as a kind of small rock like armor that I was originally envisioning for the warlord.

In the video you can see where I tried to actually include this on her legs in the sketch but it wasn't turning out like I envisioned.

Here is my latest (and last) attempt, I'm throwing in the towel for the comp. I do like the ideas I had so will continue to work on them outside of the comp... just won't have the time to finish.

I liked where this was heading in comparison to my other attempts.
