Hey guys,i have been doing some low poly characters this week,well not the Altair model but the other 2.Anyway i'll keep this thread whenever i do other characters fitting these specs.Crits are very much apprisciated.
Nero: 500 tris character and 147 weapons, 128x128 diff and alpha + 64x64 weapon.
Altair: 667 tris, 256x256 diff and alpha.
Ryu Hayabusa: 498 tris character and 109 weapons, 128x128 diff and alpha + 64x64 weapon.
Ryu Hayabusa Ninja Gaiden
Nero test anim.
They're really nice models, I especially like Nero's animation. Would be nice to see him swinging his sword around.

Modeling is nice, but what really gets me is ur textures seem flawless. I dunno maybe its just me cuz im not to experianced at texture making, but your textures for sure look great.

You have really good knack for low poly characters. It is amazing to see the quality of such low res textures. Mad props man.

i like how the cape part on nero hangs around. did you key frame that or was it some physics based animation?

can I ask of you to maybe write a sort of tutorial or atleast some sort of steps you go by on creating the textures?
cause those really look awesome !

All of these models are briliant and simply amazing !
GArriola83 everything is keyframed.I am actually leanring animation by myself so hopefuly you guys will see better anims from me soon :)
Shuyinsan i still don't work for any company,hopefuly soon enough i will be able to :P
A tutorial is kinda hard for me to write since everything comes naturaly and i have to think of what to explain in it.hehehe so i cant promise anything.

That's some good looking low poly work. You outta make some concepts, and create them for your collection. I think you will find a job in no time. Good luck.

its ok, im just really curious on how you approach such textures, what kind of brushes and tools you use.
I myself am currently learning to texture, and your textures are a great example of what i'm sort of working to.
It's a great inspiration for me thnx

Shuyinsan doing textures this small is not so different than doing texture for mid poly models.
I dont have any special brush or anything.If i want some sharp edges,i paint them pixel by pixel using the pencil tool in photoshop.Mostly i use the 1px paintbrush for such small textures.If the texture was 256,i would use the 2-3px paintbrush and leave the 1px for the edgy stuff,also try to get the shading right,otherwise the texture will look very unrealistic.Hope it helps :D

Some really nice models & textures, can't wait to see who you do next :) Makes me want to have a go at a low poly model for a change...

I always love to see very low poly modelling. It's becoming more and more of a lost art with newer and better hardware always available. This is simply spactacular work, especially the textures.
That is some great work, makes me want to play a version of dmc on the DS.

I'm currently working for Dom3 so i won't update anything in here for a while :)

great characters and nice pixelwork. i like the texture of altair and nero most. ryu looks a bit dull in comparison to the other guys.
what you could improve are the skincolours. some facestudies should help to have a better feeling for the right hues and saturations.
MFTituS i really enjoy your models,especialy the textures.I did not give much attention to the skin tones unfortunatly but next time,i'm sure i will.Thanks :D
Anyway people requested me SDK's of these models so here they are.
Nero is rigged in max2008
Ruy is rigged in max9
but i included .obj of each character so it should be fine.

I found a good coder who's making a psp game,so thats a dream come true to me eheheh
The models are not as low as the previous ones,he asked me to make them around 1500 tris for common enemies and 2000-3000 for boss'es but i didnt go that high anyway.Only the Octopus is a boss right now,the next one comming soon.
They all have 128 diffuses,except the oct wich has 256.

That is awesome! What engine are you going to use? I tried contacting Sony regarding their psp solution kit for an app called virtual tools but no one ever replied back to me. Maybe you could share some info on what you are using. I would love to work on a psp game. I am playing god of war again on psp and all I can say is wow!

The engine is self made,also you must have a homebrew capable psp to play it,so no official sdk is involved here.
God of war is ace btw :d,loved every moment of it

Hey everyone, hou about stick this thread, so we can post our really low poly models ?
it will work like "stuff we are working on", but with a 500, 700 tri limit, like the polycount foruns. This will help to make the forum clean and easily to find low poly reference...
and genz, your low poly models rocks and you texture is wonderful !:thumbsup:

Sorry, was in training all day. Yeah, I paid for virtools for the PSP solution and now I can't get any help. Sux. I got it cuz I'm not a coder and and the app uses building blocks (basically drag and drop) and builds the code for you in the background, but you can edit it. My psp runs homebrews and what not. I would love to find an engine that I could use for the psp for dev stuff. BTW, I know I have told you before but your work rocks. I am so bad at creating textures and yours look perfect. I have the 3d game textures book and I have to look at it all the time. And modeling people, forget it. I always have problems. If your interested in creating a tutorial for how you model your low poly characters and textures, I'll pay you. Let me know.
