View Full Version : Launch mel script on maya start, without mll

Hey, I wrote a pulldown and a bunch of things for maya, but every time maya starts I need to run the initial script to start up everything. Is there a way to launch a script without it being compiled in an mll at the start up of maya?

I've looked into scriptJob and scriptNode, no help.

Basically it's a bunch of global procs in a mel file, I just want one to launch.

You should be able to create a script called userSetup.mel and put that in your scripts folder (My documents folder...maya...ect). Then anything in the userSetup.mel will launch at maya start up. For example if you have a proc called customSetup then in you userSetup.mel you need add the line: customSetup();

Cool, thanks, that works. I wrote up a small auto userSetup.mel writer function so it would install my script to boot on start (fwrite to the end of the file), it works, thanks.
