im driving me nuts what's causing the artifacts in misss fast skin
i havent applied any texture yet :sad: (

anyone encountered this issue?
im using maya 2008

hey, im not sure, but it seems like there your having a double geometry issue, the pattern of the artifact suggests that you may have two versions of the same geopmetry on top of each other, i usually get that error if i go back and forth between poly and sub-d modes, if thats not the case check your SSS setup, your light linking and such.

I think that the scale setting on the shader is WAY too low. Try *10 or even *100, will turn into a waterfilled baloon when the scale is too high.

I dont see any sub surface effect at all, once that is working and the banding effect is still there, you can try increasing the lightmap sample value. Between 128 and 256 should absolutely be enough.

If that doesnt help, post a screen on the shader settings.

are you sure it's a shader problem and not a lighting/shadow problem ?

thanks a lot for a fast reply! adjusting the scale conversion solves the problem
but still have some little artifacts
just tried with maya 8.5 and works great no scale issue.
seem maya2008 has some bugs
like softmod tool (too slow)
turning the mesh to softbody (sometime it wont function)
and now this sss??
heres the rendere fro maya 8.5 same scale and light set_up and sss settings (
i think i have to switch back to 8.5 for this project (i dont want to be suprise with another issue :eek:
