View Full Version : subdividing hard surfaces

this may seem like a silly question. but im starting to model a hard surfaced vehicle. if you take a look at the concept drawing, the parts are very sharp and there aren't alot of curves. so in my mind, i would just model this straight up without using the subdivide tool. im using xsi by the way. so im wondering if alot of hard body modelers do this at all or do they use the subdivide tool even for hard edged objects? by no means am i trying to model a low poly object. it just happens that the vehicle is made of sharp parts. i've been seeing alot of hard surfaced models that people still apply subdivision to. so basically, im wondering if there are any drawbacks at all to how im going to approach this project.
