Hi folks
I have made this head while I find a nice rustic house. (It is not easy in my town).
I really appreciate your c&c

Pretty good stuff :D

I think the upper lip region is too soft looking, though... almost as if somebody decided to drag a giant Gaussian blur brush over it.

Maybe add a little detail / increase the bump strength there ?

04 April 2003, 08:20 PM
Very nice :)

IMO the upper lip needs a bit of tweaking on the ends, and the ears don't have the same feel as the face, the look artificial. Perhaps that's due to lighting or they're not textured yet.
Everything else is great, especially the hair, G/J :D

04 April 2003, 08:24 PM
Great work! The hull (cage) is amazing!

I do feel the skin is a bit too perfect. Add some beauty marks and imperfections to make it more realistic... Other then that, superb work!

really like the hair,
and eyes too yes.

dont really like her upper lip though,
you should have put more edges there and put alittle more work into making it more defined.

but aside from that, its very nice

The mesh is so pretty simply - great - Now I know that my meshes could still lose some vertices ;)

Oh well, but the thing that is more impressive is the hair setup. - The brows and eylash are beautyfull smooth.

Really, an inspiring work to me.

wow! simple and clean proxy model. Do you have more snapshots of the low res?

RockinAkin
04 April 2003, 10:01 PM
Very impressive!

I think it still has a little room for improvement though.
I'd go for a new iris texture to replace the one in the pic, which just seems kind of lacking of depth to me, maybe with a slightly darker colored ring around the ourtside of the iris.

And I really think that a slight amount of Brazil's SSS can really pic up the skin material and put it over the top as a perfect image.

Good work,

04 April 2003, 03:33 PM
I think that there's a small problem with the eyes. The reflections and the textures are pretty good, however the irises are not modeled properly. You can see from the lighting that they are bending outward, following the curvature of the eyeball, and thus the wrong side catches the main highlight. See this tutorial for more details:

http://www.3dluvr.com/content/article/59

This is one method; but you can also model a separate inner and outer eyeball, with the outer sphere being transparent.

There are a few other minor issues that have been mentioned (upper lips etc.) but this is a very nice model already.

And I must agree with everyone here, that's one clean cage :surprised aside from the huge tri on the cheek :p but it doesn't seem to affect the mesh at all. NIce job

That's the level of quality and realism that i want cg to stay at, it's so perfect. A good expression of art that isn't too real or too fake. but yah. i was bored so i messed with tha pic a lil. =D

made tha skin a lil warmer for kicks (cause i like ma skin warmm), n' made tha eye lens have a lil more depth.

so yah. jus go up to blizzard or square soft n' be like "oopsie. i sat on a poly n' this popped out." n' they'd be like "$$$$??" n' you'd be like "$$$$ =D"

"" so yah. jus go up to blizzard or square soft n' be like "oopsie. i sat on a poly n' this popped out." n' they'd be like "$$$$??" n' you'd be like "$$$$ =D" ""

i'ma translate:

In addition, I would suggest you approach Blizzard or Square Soft and exclaim, "Pardon me, I sat on a polygon and this manifested it's self."
They may be alarmed and reply, "May we offer you large sums of money?"
You may respond in delight, "Why, yes. I do enjoy large sums of money."

--

yay translationism.

but yah. was jus sayin before that tha depth of tha colored part of tha eye is from how it kinda curves inward (so tha light hits it kinda different) while tha lens curves out n' stuff.

donno if you knew. jus sayin. =D

oho n' thank ya, saltank.
