Just about done now, just need
cockpit interior, tail wheel, fix some wiring and wire tensioners, add prop,
and a few more tweaks and details (heheh it never ends).

Awdamnit.....Looks mighty good. I have'nt seen the real plane, but it really looks like you cared about every little ronded edge. That's wat makes it look soo realistic....And that what's use to make texturing of this type of models so hard. I really hope that you can make an texture above average for this one.(sadly, the average quility of textures for plane-models is pretty low)
What's your program and where's your site?

Really well done, precise modelling. Did you use any blueprints?

I'm not really an aircraft man, but I just had to stop and say, that this is mighty impressive, the attention to detail is second to none, keep it up

really nice work ..
can i see more ? if yes wher ??

I'm working in lightwave right now, and dont worry I plan on getting the textures right. Unfortunatly I dont have anything up on the net right now, I should be getting some stuff up soon though, I'll let you know. some of it I cant show due to the nda's I signed. I'll post updates when I start texturing.

its just excellent !
this is a really good job.
cant wait to see it texturized

Most impressive modeling arai! I love WWII airplanes. I would love more high-res WIPs if you have any. Also, what modeling technique did you use? How did you model the panel lines? Use any maps for this WIP?

Excellent model arai. Would you mind sharing how you go about creating it? Do you have a scanned plan view of the plan as a background and create the splines or what?

freaking awesome.... I would love to see more of it... Can we have some wireframe view as well??
01 January 2002, 05:34 AM
thanks again. The method I use is to start with a primitive cage and build up from there. Sometimes its as simple as a cylinder and modified from there. I'm using sub-d surfaces so I start with a lower res cage that will then get frozen to a higher level of detail. I gather a LOT of reference when making most of my models, blueprints if possible and lots of close up's for that nice little detail.
The tricky parts are usually the wing joint and in this case the radiator and how it joins with the fuselage. And I guess just getting all the proportions correct (thickness of wing, shape of fuselage etc)
Once the shape of the fuselage is finalized I freeze the objects and start putting in the little detail, most of the panel lines are modeled in with lightwaves stencil function (I love that thing ;)
hope I dont make this thread to fat with these wireframes.
I'm planning on starting textures this weekend so I'll show my updates when I get more done

Wonderful work. U have an eye for detailes. I have some questions though. Whats the resolution of that texture? What sort of textures did u use? Is this a GI rendering?
Very nice! Keep up the good work!

I do like it too ! It's so clean !
I hope i won't be too much off topic :
For people who like WWII planes, you shoudl play that game :
IL2 Sturmovik : plane fights during WWII between Germans and Russians
It is a gorgeous game, you can fly 31 planes, with their own properties. It is a real simulation and landing and flying gives you so good sensations !!! This game is wonderful. Very realistic, graphically and technically !!!
IL2 Sturmovik Official Page (http://ww.il2sturmovik.com)
I put some screenshots taken in real time game to tease you, because i know some of you will love that game ! (maybe you too Arai !)
Hope you like !!!
