Well as the thread title may suggest, it involves beer. The story is about two stubborn dwarfs trying to outdo each other in an ale-a-thon. The running time will be around 2m 30s ish. There's 3 characters in total, one bar guy and the two punters.

Ooo and im doing it in Maya

Here is some pics of the progress of one of the characters being made. I based the other characters on the same model and rig to cut down my character creation time a fair bit.

There's also a facial animation that i did using one of the punters for a uni project which gave me a chance to test the rig. So if you click the link you'll be transported to the wonderful world of youtube. I would prefer to be able to upload the animation in Quicktime, any suggestions on how i could do this?As i don't really like youtube - makes the animation jumpy and you can't go through on a per frame basis.

Ok here's what the scene looks like, just to give you an idea of what it may be like rendered. I'm a completed novice when it comes to lighting so also any suggestions would be nice if possible, but my main focus is on the animation side of things.

Here is, as it says on the tin, shot 7 of my animation. The other shots before this were just establishing shots, with characters being introduced and entering the scene etc but this is where things start to kick off. Both characters are stood at the bar,and the black object on the left is the barman's armband. Ive not set up the collisions on the hair yet as its just the skeleton of the hair really, but ill tackle that later. Sooo... C+C is more than welcome!

(apologies on the quality as its just a playblast)

Looking really good so far, Really like the job youve done on the texturing and modelling of your characters, whtch for the animation though it all looks a little linear at the mo.

In shot 7 right now the mug is covering up the characters face, I would move it to screen left so its more inbetween the two characters. Also, everything feels very linear, I know its wip, but I would go through and do another pass on the blocking to try and get some more dynamic poses and expressions from the characters. Keep up the good work

Hey thanks guys, i agree with the linearity of it, it's something i always fall into and i don't know how to get out :( but i will be going over it again anyway, just wanted to check there wasn't anything majorly wrong with it that i'm oblivious to for some reason. Thanks again!

Kyle G - The cup will be smaller than its size now, i intended to change it but i forgot...oops!Thanks for pointing it out.

anyone else got any crits?

This may help with the linearity of your animation, very effective work flow

Also this may help for lip sync

Looking forward to more work :)
