View Full Version : my sketchbook thread

over the last few years i have focused on the 3D side of art/design and have let my 2D side fall. i have decided to balance it up in 2008. So this is why i have started this thread to try to make me do more 2D'ing. (which i really really feel i need to get on with as i feel i am loosing my creative juices ) i am colour blind on certain colours so please excuse the times i paint something in the wrong colour (:)). i am using a wacom intious A5 wide tablet and painter X.
right here are some sketches i have done over the last couple of weeks ( more will follow i hope)

small update (added some details to it):
12 December 2007, 01:22 AM
Hey. First one should be on postcards, it's really good. It was so easier being a kid...:)
The second picture remaind me of 'Smurfs'(someone remember that cartoon?). You should clean it up and work a bit more, it will be a really good painting!
Robot started out good, but You should work at perspective. Especially on his 'chest', You can see that something is not right there. As for design, I assume we see it's front view and he should have human arm-like mechanics, I don't get how he bend his arm at elbow. I think that the hinge should be on the front side of hand(that is if I assumed right).
Hope it helps. Keep up good work!

thanks for the reply mate
pleased you like the first one :). i may do more on the mushroom piccy at a later date. there is sooooo much wrong with the bot and yes i noticed the chest perspective too but my hand ignored my head and kept on adding details ( which cant work esp the arm lol) i shall attack all the points very soon ( later today :)) thanks again and stay tuned.

thanks for the reply mate, for a moment i thought i done something wrong :)
yes the user name hmmm that was due to when cgtalk added the portfollio and it wouldnt let me keep my old user name (dd) which was much shorter :( aww well.
im pleased you like them and dont worry about not liking the colours cause there will always be something off with them as im colourblind on loads of colours. this is why the charcoal ones imho look like i had more fun ( i think they do ) cause i didnt need to worry about colouring them. i plan on trying to get around the colour issue this year, so stay tuned.
thanks again for the comments and i will be adding more charcoal etc ones soon (well once ive done them that is )
