The alien troops have arrived, however, their engineer team missed the first transport ship and are still several weeks behind in there approach to Earth. Im sure you dont mind helping them out :D

Have fun guys! the Aliens are awaiting for your designs!

Vey interesting idea. But i didn't understand one fact: why is it so important that they missed there transport ship? Hm and i think 7 days is to short...i liked the 10 days deadline from the last challenge. But i will think about and when i get a good idea i will start to try to finish it :)

12-16-2007, 01:34 PM
Lol it wasnt important as such, just trying to make an excuse for making an alien base, the troops have arrived but dont have an HQ to start their invasion prcedures so you are to make it for them.

If you read the mgac image above you will see that all MGACs are supposed to be no more than 1 week, this is the whole point of them, to be short quick rounds.

12-16-2007, 01:46 PM
Ah ok thx! Yes i read it some time before and i was very happy to get few more days for the last challenge. Ok i will now start a round BF2 and after it i will sketch some stuff in photoshop. Maybe i get a good inspiration :)

Is there any style guide? Can i make a "mad max" old crap HQ or have it to be shiny and new?

12-16-2007, 01:49 PM
Excellent! I'll see if i can make it to this one.

12-16-2007, 02:06 PM
Well as this base will be a new build, as they have only just arived then I reckon that a newish looking one would fit the theme better, unless you can come up with some excuse like you are using any old scrap materials you can find around the area to knock up a makeshift base before the engineers arrive, then that would be acceptable too :)

12-17-2007, 05:24 PM
Would it be evil to do a Home Depot joke here? jk.

12-17-2007, 10:25 PM
Well I hope we can make more plant-like bases too. I might have an idea for something more organic.

I installed Max on my new PC last night so I'll try to get in on this.

12-17-2007, 10:29 PM
The scope really is completely open for this round, the only limits are your imagination

12-19-2007, 09:25 AM
This is going well!

12-20-2007, 04:42 PM
This is going well!
Yeah. =\ I'll try to make something fast but I have to work, sleep and eat too so I don't know what I'll end up having.

12-20-2007, 06:02 PM
Ok I don't want this thread to be completely empty, so I spent half an hour on this:

I don't know if I'll get to map it and texture it, although I might, since I only have to map 6 major parts - most of which will get repeated after.

12-23-2007, 06:10 AM
This is a waste of such a nice mini-challenge idea...sigh.

Here's my UV mapped model and the texturing I've done so far.
Almost 500% UV coverage!

12-23-2007, 10:08 PM
Here's my final version of the mobile HQ. I didn't texture 100% of it, but it should be fine since it has a lot of very small parts and since I'm the only one submitting anything. =\

Happy holidays!

I like it alot! Great job and the idea is also cool. Looks heavy but moveable. I wish i could do something but i dont have the time because of xmas (family, traveling etc pp) but i'm looking forward the see what the next challange theme will be. go ON!

12-24-2007, 06:03 AM
Well seeing as no one even entered this one, I think we should hold off until next year. I doubt anyone will model stuff on exmas and new year's week. Most people will probably have take time off to celebrate, spend it with their family, etc.

I'll be at work so nothing changes for me, but I think we should wait until more people have free time.

12-24-2007, 10:59 AM
Hmm, to decide a winner, hmmm......

I think iSOBigD just clinches it here, lol

Hmm what a failure this thread was :(

ah well, life goes on :)

Well done iSOBigD i love it

12-24-2007, 12:03 PM
I was going to enter but other things came up and i couldnt finish the mesh. Im still going to finish the project, even though the contest is over.

12-24-2007, 01:18 PM
ashe: same like me, i can't finish the texture duel to dead line, but i try my best to finish it too:thumbsup:

i will post it if i finish it

December is a hard time to get people to participate in these challenges. You made the challenge and kept the MGAC going! Personally I was Christmas shopping, driving across the country and turning wrenches on my truck and trying to find time for the UGAC.

January will be a better time.

How about a 256 challenge!!!

12-25-2007, 11:54 PM
I think you guys should post whatever you end up making, just so we don't have just 1 model in the thread at least. :P

12-26-2007, 08:27 PM
finally done this alien hq, this one is the beuti render and i will post wire frame and texture tomorrow, abit late now, 4.30 am here, gonna have a sleep

c&c is alway welcome

good night

Time to resume the MGACs iSOBigD?

01-09-2008, 05:22 PM
I think so, but I don't have any ideas right now. I'm working on the Team Fortress 2 challenge so if you wanna start the mini-challenge thread or just give me ideas, that would work too.

01-09-2008, 05:25 PM
I think a good idea would be to look at earlier mgac's and see which ones were the most popular. Personaly I like the ones that are a bit out of the ordinary, the 12 triangle challenge comes to mind as a good example of that. Just a thought.

01-10-2008, 07:23 AM
i dont like this scifi stuff anymore ,)

01-10-2008, 09:58 PM
Anyone else wanna take over the challenge? I'm willing to give my judging rights to someone else if you guys have more ideas and time than I do.

01-11-2008, 05:51 AM

Here's what i have so far. Its done in 3dmax 9, and its hi poly right now. Im going to start optiziming it tonight.

01-13-2008, 01:08 PM
Hi everybody.

Since the MGAC looks like silent and ISOBigD has other things on his mind... I have an idea.

How about everyone with a Challenge theme/concept post it here (something like "IDEA: i have a concept" to make it easily recognizeable), then we let BigD choose and whoever gets chosen will host the new MGAC, just to move things along.

Whadda ya say?

Ashe: looks great... nice concept too! can't wait to see that one finished and textured!

01-17-2008, 09:01 AM
Well as there seems to be a lack of ideas at the mo how bout we get started with another easy 12tri challenge to get things rolling again?

01-18-2008, 09:01 AM
Well ive been asked to take over the new round so here it is...

go get your new years 3d shoes on!
