Heres a model i am making for an assinment at school, it's just a character assignment. modelling and texturing, it didn't need to be game spec, but i went that way so i could get some practice, and find a good workflow for myself with these new gen type characters. it is a bit heavy but thats to make sure it wasnt' jaged in some places, and since it's not accualy goign in a game.
Comments and Critiques are very welcome
heres where i am now
some process work

Very nice. You could still shave off some polys in areas that are flat and don't need to bend but today's games have pretty high poly counts so your model's fine.
It should look very nice with the texture and normal map.

looks good but i think the proportions for a male are a bit out. His waste seems to go in like and hour glass and the upper body armour makes him look like he has breasts.

I agree with psycho. But it is a great start. Geometry and normal map look solid.

hehe, yea i guess you'e right about the breast thing...i guess i just need to push the pecks in a bit...i'll edit that stuff for the next update.
I went ahead a textured some more...not really happy with the mud on the boods....some straches i like..some not so much.
onces again Critisism is very much apreciated =)
edit..oh, and please ignore the pink inside his mouth for now.

I like the texture apart from some scratches which are obviousely just white lines. Try some inner shadow in Photoshop to give them a bit of an edge and make them seem like it's showing the paint layer underneath the top one.
Also, now that I see him from the front, I'd say the upper half of the torso shold be much wider. Women have a small upper body and bigger hips, men don't...at least not men who work out, anyway. :P (and all soldiers in games are buff) This waist shape is for women, not men: )(
The rib cage should be wider and also the back muscles that give that V shape from behind also make the upper body on guys look wider. That'll make him look more manly and in-shape.
