Hi all,

after half a year of nothing but work, work, work, we have an update to our website ready. If you're interested, please watch one of the reasons, why we were so quiet: The MINI Clubman Special. We have a compilation of the best scenes on our website and a link to the webspecial at mini.com for you. The movies were rendered in C4D and finalRender with AQM GI.

More to come soon. Thanx for viewing...

cheers mnu and the AixSponza team

How big was the Mini car data? Was it factory or did you model it?

How big was the Mini car data? Was it factory or did you model it?

The cars came as tesselated 3D data, if i recall it right, Interrior was 600mb, exterrior was 400mb (maybe even more).
We had to switch to xp64, and add ram to all the machines, still it was not fun to work with the files at times....
We also avoided rendering interrior and exterrior together, 'cause it was pretty much impossible to render.. So in the exterrior turns of the parking sequenz, when you see the interrior through the open door, that was rendered seperately, and composed together.
When I did the interrior stills (most of them) I made sure that only the parts visible to the camera were turned on.
After we had finished the project, cinema released 10.5..., apart of other cool things it has X-ref's. X-ref's would have saved us so much time, had we had them before!

ciao Jan

that looks incredible - the amount of animation going on looks crazy. was it all done using cinemas modules - mograph, thinking particles etc. or is there something else helping to make it all happen?

Fantastic job guys, congrats!

I especially like the BIGFM Speakers... Particles are great, I'm curious about how you done it?

Keep it coming...

The cars, how much triangles was that then at 1gb data? Also how much RAM did you use at the end?
