View Full Version : Baking a 3d texture

Ok lets say I have a nurbs object moving through the scene, and I have volume noise applied as a bump map. As the object moves, the bump map constanty changes, because the object movies through the place3dtexture box.

Is there a way to bake the volume noise texture so that it stays constant through the animation. Or should I just use convert to file texture and bake them individually.

You either bake it or do a reference object for the NURBS part. By doing this you sort of tells Maya that I-want-the-texture-placed-like-in-my-reference-object-which-isn't-deforming-or-moving. Kind of...

Come to think of it, in some cases it's enough to parent the texture node to the object to get it to move along...
