Hello guys. Here's my spanking new rigging reel, and my first one at that. The rigs were done in messiah:studio. Some of the rigs are for TV shows and commercials, some were made for personal projects. Hope you enjoy. (

hey man,

Nice reel really cool assets. I primarily rig in Maya, XSI, and Max but i've see one or two reels with messiah in it and have just been curious how it is. Do you by chance rig in any other package. I'd be interested to hear some of the comparisons from messiah to Maya or XSI. thanks and i enjoyed the reel, good stuff, wouldnt mind seeing more animations with the rigs though.

We did also model and animate most of the characters but for the time being they're being split up into seperate reels. So we can get reels aimed at the freelance jobs we're after.
Rigging in Messiah is relatively simple and straight forward to do. There is a very prowerful and easy to use expression engine, and some good deformers (the skeleton works quite well even unweighted). I would say that in the bigger programs like max, maya and xsi you can probably go deeper and do more custom stuff due to the way that you approach it. In messiah it's a bit more wysiwyg and you wouldn't neccessarily write any scripts at all to do the rigs. All the constraints and stuff are organised in a list and happen in the sequence they appear in that list, so for instance you can have stretchy IK kick in when the normal ik reaches complete stretch just by placing the stretchy IK after the normal IK expression.
It's very quick to work in and it works for bigger studios but really excels for smaller teams.
