View Full Version : "Calango!" - Short Film

10 October 2007, 02:55 AM

I would like to show you people one of our short films, called "Calango!" (thatīs the brazilian word for "lizard"). Itīs a classical animated chase, when in a sunny brazilian beach a hungry lizard tries to get a small cricket... but things will not be that easy for the poor calango .

This film was produced during a workshop I teach here in Brasília, at Ozi Escola de Audiovisual. I directed it and did a few bits here and there , but my students did almost all of the hard work: screenplay, storyboards, animation, modelling, rigging, etc.

Our workshop is six months long. During the first three months I teach the basics of Maya, Shake, and Adobe Premiere (with a strong focus on character modelling and animation). Our students for the most part didnīt have any previous experience with 3d, so those were very funny - and intense! - three months.

On the final three months of the workshop, we work together - the students and me - and write, animate and create an animated short film. "Calango!" is the result of our first workshop, and we hope you guys enjoy it. Crits and comments are, of course, very welcome.
