Hi group -
Please pardon the newbie question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
How do you all convert your .tga files to .jpeg or other for posting on the web? Is there some sort of file converter program that you use?
Thanks for any help.

Any bitmap editor would do. Photoshop is the most used. Im sure that you could find some free-shareware on the web. Do a google search and try that.

Paintshop Pro (the v8 beta is a fully functioning time limited demo, but is a free download)
1/6th the cost of Photoshop:

irfanview (http://irfanview.com/) kicks much ass in this regard, and it is freeware. Batch conversion, format whore, and has some hidden gems, like the Lanczos resample filter to enlarge pics, makes a nice little cheat to get higher res A:M renders or lossless jpg rotation, plays avis and flash, etc...
And did I mention it's free?

There is GraphicConverter if you use a Mac...

Thanks all! I'm off to look at Gimp and irfanview.
to continue this, does anyone know why AM only renders to TGA's on the box and in the manual it said it could render out to tons of different formats and then they only offer one?
its not that i dont like tgas, i just got a little peeved at the deception.

for an image it only renders out to TGA, but for video it renders to a number of different formats. I don't really remember what the box or manual said about different image formats, but I knew going in that if I want to do an image, TGA is it.

I haven't seen a box in years since I've been upgrading just the CD and or NetRender version, but they added more formats to import a while back...used to only be Targa, pcx and iff if memory serves. I think it's always been Targa for output stills except for their brief fling with a special Hash format called FLM that I could only make and open in A:M. Never heard of anyone ever talk of any others and I certainly have never seen them promoted.
