View Full Version : High res and low res cage for skinning

I had some questions about the subdivision proxy in the proxy menu and skinning.

1.Is the subdivision proxy the same as the old smooth proxy from older maya versions?

2.Is the subdivision proxy doing the same as converting my low res polygon character to a subdivision?

3. Also wondering if the subdivision proxy looks better than the smooth proxy from old maya versions.

4. Does the subdivision proxy inherit uvs from the low res polygon?

5.And lastly, if i skin the low res polygon will the smooth subdivision move with it.

I used to use the old cps stuff, then I used smooth proxy in older versions of maya because the high res mesh inheritied the uv's of the low res poly. In addition to this the low res poly could also drive the high res smooth.

Any comments on this would be very helpful. thanks
