View Full Version : IM2DMV_v2 broken on Maya2008?

10 October 2007, 02:59 AM
I'm trying to get the IM2DMV_v2 mentalray shader to work in Maya2008 on a quad G5 PowerMac. I successfully edited my maya.rayrc file and I got the plugin to work flawlessly in 8.5, but on 2008, everytime I load the app, I get the following error for the plugin:

// Error: (Mayatomr.Nodes) : Shader declaration "lm2DMV_v2" has not been loaded - node type ignored.

I'm using the mac version of the plugin:

Along with the accompanying mental ray files:

Here is my ray.rc file for your consumption. I cannot figure out for the life of me why this isn't working anymore and I really need to get those motion vectors rendered out so I can composite them in post.

registry "{MAYABASE}" value "/Applications/Autodesk/maya2008/" end registry

registry "{SYSTEM}" value "irix" end registry
registry "{DSO}" value "so" end registry

$lookup "{MAYABASE}"
$lookup "{SYSTEM}"
$lookup "{DSO}"

registry "{_MI_MAYA_STARTUP}"
value "mental ray startup upon rendering"

link "/Applications/Autodesk/maya2008/"
mi "/Applications/Autodesk/maya2008/"

echo "mental ray for Maya - startup done"
end registry

$lookup "{MRMAYA_START}"

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I'm dying here. Thanks :)

Just recompile the source.

Or use the included mip_motionvector (

I too have wanted to get this shader working again. I believe its because of the intel switch as the shader still seems to work on my G5. please could someone tell my how to compile shaders under MAC OSX. Thanks in advance.

It is a good addition (mip_motionvectors), but I'm getting some errors with maya 2008 ext 2 (linux x86_64). There's motion where shouldn't be and I can't rely on threshold since I have fast moving objects and static objects.

Also the filtering issue with maya.. well.

I've compiled IM2DMV_v2 for maya 2008, but sometimes it doesn't translate as expected.

By the way there was something wrong with the package for Maya Mac MacIntel users and it has been fixed

For Linux, there are compiled versions there as well
