View Full Version : mentalray 3.6 cann't render transparency map?

hi, i have a poly head. the head has two shaders on it. one is an sss skin for the head, the other is just a blinn for the eyelashes. here is the problem, mentalray in maya8.5 can render the blinn but cann't render the sss skin shader; mentalray 3.6 in maya2008 can render the sss skin but cann't render the blinn with the transparency map. both version of maya display the object properly in the viewport. anyone using maya 2008 or 8.5 has the similar problem? hope anyone can help. it is frustrating.... Im also having problems using the transparency maps with mental ray in maya 2008,
did you end up figuring out how to fix this problem?

read teh DOCs
mental ray with Maya 2008 has to eihter
check alpha is luminance in teh AE of the texture file
check Use Maya old style alpha in the pref and setting window > under rendering
