View Full Version : Shiki's Sketches

09 September 2007, 03:13 PM
I thought since I draw quite a bit more than what I often share here, I should create my own sketch thread and see where it takes me. Here's a few concept sketches I've been woking on for the last week or so. There's also some practice sketches for anotomical reference since I thought I needed the practice to get things right. I'm also experimenting with loose form rough sketching to jot down concept ideas without dragging myself down with detail. I've also picked up the ol' blue pencil again, and used it to roughly sketch out what I need and then fine tune it with a mechanical pencil. (
^Here is one concept and a pair of poses to flesh out later. ( ( (
A set of naga oriented sketches I've been working on for later use. I noticed that connecting half of a human to half of a snake is not as easy as it looks. (
A very macabre/horror inspired image. Jenova of the FF7 game was on my mind specifically. This one won't be floating in a tank though. Though I'm not quite sure what BG to place this creation in, or if it will need one at all. (
Practicing hands. I didn't think I was that good at drawing hands, but I worked on it here, and a felt a little surprised at myself. You tell me if I'm wrong though, I don't want to get full of myself.

Well, that';s it for now. Hopefully I'll be backed with either the fleshed out versions of these sketches or more simple sketches. They're not digital yet, but some will be soon, and some will be be in pencil.
Comments welcome.~Angela

Here's one that I've been working on. I still need to add some fiolage at the tops of the trees in the BG, and then the CGing will begin. I've gotten so accustomed to drawing for cg, thus leaving out quite a bit that can be worked over in photoshop. I may just do more detail in pencil in the BG instead of relying too much on cg work. ~Angela

09 September 2007, 05:41 AM (
More work done on "Catch Me". I think now it's done, I will start CGing it after a while.

09 September 2007, 12:31 AM
Finished draft of an earlier rough sketch from the above posts. (

09 September 2007, 03:10 AM
Started the CGing process on "Catch Me". Rough painting of BG, what's done so far: (

09 September 2007, 07:09 PM
I'm adding base colors to the fae. I'm using a new technique I discovered in a tutorial I found online. It has to do with painting over the lines, which is unusual for mem, since I rely so heavily on my linework. For once, this will be an attempt to let go of that crutch, and to see if I can mae my work look a bit more real without lines involved. (

09 September 2007, 08:18 PM
More work on the fae. (

09 September 2007, 12:04 AM (

More detail work and blending done on the fae.

09 September 2007, 02:57 AM
More work on the fae again. I never realized just how time consuming this method of painting was. I hope I survive through the entire image.^_^; (

09 September 2007, 07:15 AM
Nice sketches, the little fox looks very cute!
I think that the colors on the little fairy should be more variated, nice pose :)

09 September 2007, 10:15 AM
love the composition

09 September 2007, 03:21 PM
Dianae: Thanx alot:) I'm actually going to work in some other colors in next to add a little texture to the skin. Then the wings will likely have something more too.

Marimari: Thanx for the compliment.:)

09 September 2007, 06:09 PM
Working in texture and color variation in the fae. (

09 September 2007, 10:16 PM
Did some color adjustments and added new color to the wings. The wings I've decided are going to be like that of a butterfly's in pattern. (

09 September 2007, 04:11 PM
Nice sketches! Cant wait to see more!

09 September 2007, 05:02 AM
I did a bit more work on the fae again. This time highlights and more work on the wings. (

09 September 2007, 05:58 PM
Its looking good! I am wondering though at what resolution are you working at and what size is the image?

one crit is I would slender up her right wrist (viewers right). Right now it seems kind of like there is no real wrist there...Other then that great so far!

I'm working at 200dpi, if I work any higher, my pc crashes. It's old and will be replaced by this coming xmas at least. The image size is 1762 x 2256. I'll get on fixing that wrist. Thanx.:)

09 September 2007, 01:56 PM
I really like your last piece! I can't wait to see when you make the fox, it's so pretty!
I agree with nerdyninja on the wrist.

09 September 2007, 04:19 PM
No problem! I also cant wait until you start on the fox! Its going to be fantastic!

200dpi eh...well I for one am glad you are getting a better computer and i know you must be exstatic!! I know i was when i got my computer!!

09 September 2007, 05:16 AM
Latest pencil sketch, more digital should be coming soon. :) This one, I decided I didn't want to do the arms, so I used her seaweed/hair to create a border. Being lazy I guess. (

09 September 2007, 11:21 AM
Wow, crazy sketches! I can see that you aren't new to holding a pen
My favorite is the little foxie though, I can't wait for you to finish that picture! Evn the background already looks good. (I tried to draw a forest some time ago, didn't work so well :D)

09 September 2007, 12:41 PM
nice pencil skecth! I love her seaweed hair. the only thing is that her right breast looks kind of funny.

09 September 2007, 03:33 PM
Very nice sketch! Lovin it! I agree with the breasts..i think both of them should be moved down a bit..would love to see it colored

09 September 2007, 03:06 AM
Thanx, I have fixed those boobs. *^_^* I need to rescan still, but I'll be posting it again soon.
Until then, here's what's been done on the fae. I worked in some furry strokes to make the wings look like those of a moth. I slimmed down the wrist too. Thanx:)~Angela (

10 October 2007, 05:47 AM
Here's the revised version of the mermaid, with the adjustment made to lower her breasts. I also decided to leave this file in RGB to add a little color to the linework. (
I think someone thought I was working in ink here. That's actually not the case. I work in pencil, mechanical, 0.3mm. When I clean it up in photoshop, it gets a darker look to it, so may be mistaken for pen work.

10 October 2007, 03:35 PM
The wrist is looking good! I love what you did to the fairie wings!

Line work is looking good and i like the RGB version...i still think the boobs need to be moved down some more though...

10 October 2007, 10:12 PM
I'm going to leave the boobs on the other sketch as is, at least for now. I've gotten back to "Catch Me" and I just started work on the fox. Mainly just working in base colors. (

10 October 2007, 02:18 AM
More on the fox, such as filling in base color, adding highlights, shading. I'm happy with how it's starting to look now. (

I guess I should be shocked since so many people here use a tablet and I still use a mouse. One day soon I'll have one, but until then, here's what I can do with a mouse. Hence my new sig addition.

10 October 2007, 08:40 AM
Very nice work so far, the lighting on the fox is great, I think that it could be stronger though since it's very strong on the little fairy :) Great work especially considering you're using a mouse ;)

10 October 2007, 12:41 AM
The fox! is looking beautiful, and you're working with a mouse, wow!
I agree with danae on the lightning

10 October 2007, 05:34 AM
Thanx very much for the compliments.:) I worked more on the lighting, and added more shadow to the fur on the lower half of the fox. With the fur, I know there are thinner strokes around the chest and face, and the rest is done with thicker strokes, I'll have to adjust that to blend in more at some point. I also did some color adjustments to change the BG to a more suitable scheme of colors to match. Hope you like again! ^^ (

10 October 2007, 10:15 PM
woah! This is looking fantastic! Love the colors and the bkg is looking great..i love how it has that misty fog look to it. The fox looks the lighting! Looks like you already know what to do from here..which is blending the light in with the darks.

my one crit is the foxes paw...for some reason looks off. i think the paw is angled too far upward...

10 October 2007, 12:32 AM
ohhh I'm in love with that fox, is looking beautiful!
the background is looking so much better now with the new color.

10 October 2007, 05:23 PM
Thanx for all the comments. ^^ I have worked more on smoothing out the fox's fur, and it's looking satisfactory. I intend to hide the upturned paw with grass/foilage etc. So it will be eventually covered. I'll be working on the BG next. The fox I'm leaving as is for now. Thanx again guys:) ~Angela (

10 October 2007, 06:01 PM
Those bodys at your first post look really good. I wish I can draw likes that.

10 October 2007, 10:05 PM
dinhviet: Thakyou for the compliments:) I've been practicing and those are rough sketches for later reference in my work. You can get to that skill level, it's just a matter of practicing and time. ;) It's not too hard to do sketches like those once you have a methodology of how you start a figure in the first place, like starting with simple shapes.

On to the WIP! I have worked in some grass in the foreground to cover the foot and add for more in the image. It's still quite rough, but I'll find a way to smooth it out later. (

10 October 2007, 04:18 PM
This is excellent! I love how this is looking and the softness on the fur is brilliant! You got some mean mouse skills woman!!! haha

10 October 2007, 06:56 PM
nerdyninja: Thanx for props on the mouse skills:D I'm using them to the fullest until I can afford to get a tablet. I practiced in PS for years with just a mouse, so I guess that's paying off at least.
Here's the latest. I've gotten in foreground greenery, as well as starting to color in some of the trees on the right. (

10 October 2007, 07:03 PM
the trees are looking good so far. the fur on the fox and the lightning are excellent!

10 October 2007, 05:05 PM
Hi again, here's the latest. I've worked on the trees more with the lighting and some of the upper foilage. The lighter parts of the foilage will be painted in soon. (

10 October 2007, 02:00 AM (
I've worked on the trees more, and in more of the upper foilage. Something still isn't looking right with the lighting in the foilage though, not sure how to fix it yet. The rocks to the side are also bugging me, they look too much like blobs and not natural. The ground is going to be more grass and such, but that's about it for now. This is the only other background I've worked so hard on other than "Origins" which is in my gallery. I'm also not completely sure that this BG wouldn't be better looking in a monochrome setting, though I'm not sure which color shade.

10 October 2007, 12:46 AM
the trunks look nice! though i agree with you on the rocks, maybe you should use some texture brushes on them, but the lightning on them looks good.

10 October 2007, 05:10 PM
looking great so far! I think the problem with the rocks is there are no sharp edges on and boulders always have at least a few sharp edges...I have some ref pics here to illustrate my point! Check em out!

10 October 2007, 10:18 PM
I'm enjoying this thread. Keep up the good work.

10 October 2007, 05:13 AM (

To nerdyninja: Thanx for the refs, I used them a bit for the rocks, I don't know if they look right just yet though, but they seem to be better.

I"ve been working in the grass in the bg and some sparkly flight streams coming from the fairy. The tree line was also worked on to get a more leafy feeling up there, but I'm not sure if i have it yet, but it's coming around. ~Angela

10 October 2007, 03:30 AM (
I changed the layer blending options on the trees because I didn't feel like they were belnding enough, they were too distracting from the focal point in the image. Other than that I've been working on adding some plants to the hill below one of the trees, something needs to fill that space. I'm not sure I have what I really want with this image, but I'm working on just getting it out of my hair at this point.

10 October 2007, 08:59 PM
Its looking fantastical! The rocks def. look a lot better! Truthfully i would leave the rocks as is as they kinda look fantasy to go with your drawing. Loving the foliage and grass. I would add more foliage and maybe some weed flowers and sparse bushes. Also blend the difference between the foreground grass and the background grass a bit better. That is it! Keep it up!

10 October 2007, 10:18 PM
Thanx nerdyninja ^_^, I'll work on blending the grass and adding some weed flowers. I've made a few more changes here. The fairy has had a color adjustment and on layer blending options I chose to add the outer-gow. It seems to bring her out from blending in that BG. I've also worked in the fiolage/plants to the left. I added som yellow to the highlighting on the rocks to help them blend with the lighting a little better also. That's it so far. Nearing completion I hope. (

11 November 2007, 11:26 PM
Looking good! I really like the glow on the fairy and yes it does bring her out a lot more. The foliage is looking great so far too!

11 November 2007, 02:25 AM
Did more work on the foilage again. Mostly shadows, and then I worked on blending the grass together a bit more. I hope it looks okay. The other thing I'm wondering about is if I have the lighting correct in this composition. I should update more soon. Thanx again for the crits and comments.:) ~Angela (

11 November 2007, 04:19 PM
Hope you dont mind but i did a quick over draw type thing to show you what i mean about the grass blending.

I have added deeper shadows here and there and also blended the tall grass with the smaller grass. Hope that helps you! The lighting looks fine to me! :bounce:

11 November 2007, 05:27 PM
No, of course I don't mind. :) That looks like a great idea. ^^ I will do it for sure. I'm glad the lighting looks good. There's one thing I can't decide though, do you think I should add more magical sparks here and there in the BG to add to the fantasy theme? I can't figure out whether or not to do that, or if it even needs it. That would be one of the last touches though, because this image is definitely right next to being finished. Thanx so much for your input. ~Angela

11 November 2007, 09:23 PM
Hi again, here's the latest. I went ahead and tried adding some firflies in the BG, and I also added some extra flight streams to the fairy. I worked on the grass blending again too, so take a look. I think it may be finished because I love how it looks now, but I'm not sure so I'm asking for a second opinion. ~Angela (

11 November 2007, 04:15 PM
Grass is blended together nicely! I like the fireflies in the bkg but im not so sure im liking the extra on the fairy. i think maybe none at all on her or tone it down quite a bit...its kind of takes away from the rest of the image. Other then that i love it!!!

11 November 2007, 06:28 PM
Okay, I've toned down the sparkles. I'm leaving it as is now. Thanx for all the great critique nerdyninja. :) (

11 November 2007, 08:29 PM
No problem! let me know when you start a new drawing will ya?! :)

12 December 2007, 02:31 AM
Will do Nerdyninja :) I'm going to try and keep most of my stuff in this thread here, so you'll know whenever I start something up. Lately, I've been feeling as if I pale in comparison to some people here, the way they paint so well. I have so much to improve upon, and I have to do so much more to get where I want to I guess.

I did start sopmething new recently. It was used from a pen sketch, then taken in ps and I changed the color of the lines. The title of this one is "Critical Mass" . So obviously, it's going to be quite fiery. I want the figure to look as if she's igniting from within, like a creature born from fire itself. I don't know quite how to do this, though I have an image in mind. I just using the lines as guides, and since I changed their color it should be easy to paint them over. Just gimme some tips on where to go next. ^_^ ~Angela (

12 December 2007, 04:09 PM
love your sketches!! They're beautiful!!

12 December 2007, 04:21 PM
you have some very nice work here,i like especially the faery and the fox piece, the colors are very well choosed:)

12 December 2007, 08:33 PM
Thanx Tasty-K and ShadowBrooke. :) I appreciate the compliments.

Okay, on to the latest work on my sketch here. I've highlighted more areas on the figure. I know some lighting areas may be off, but I'm just going with it for now. (

That's it for now, but I will return with more!

12 December 2007, 10:48 PM
Here's more. I'm going to try and make the ground look as if it were cracking under the force of lava beneath. So, on with the work. ~Angela (

12 December 2007, 12:32 AM
WOW! you are just getting better and better!! Love the new pen sketch and the idea your are doing with it! looks great! no crits for now but will check back soon. All i will say is perhaps make the contrast of light and dark even stronger!!!

12 December 2007, 08:39 AM
Wow.. nice picture! I love "fire-like" colours! Maybe you have to add more RED?

12 December 2007, 10:50 PM
Hey guys:) I haven't been back in a while, again. Had a cold but I'm over it now, and I have worked a bit more on the Critical Mass painting. I definitely increased the contrast between the light and dark colors. And when I look a the image in small scale it seems to be going well. Here's the latest. I should be back soon, with more work.~Angela (

Also another piece of work I'm doing of an original character, more of a cel shading style right now. (

12 December 2007, 06:24 AM
Here's the finished product of Critical Mass. I'm fairly pleased with it.:) (

12 December 2007, 01:11 AM
Hi. Critical Mass came out really good! One thing that feels not right for me is her chest beneath her right breast... I can't really say what's wrong, as I've started to learn human anatomy not so long ago, but it just seems not right for me, but it's just me:)

As for the cell shaded character. its coming really good too. I think You should smoothen transitions from light to dark a bit. Bottom head is nice, just skew it a little to the left:)
Keep up good work!

01 January 2008, 12:51 PM
Love critical Mass came out really beautiful! Great job girly! you have such great ideas!

Now for the cell shaded character i love the style that you are going with and love the whole thing. just one question...are you going to put highlights and shade on the hair as well?

01 January 2008, 08:38 PM

Thanx a bunch. ^_^
Yeah, I intend to put highlights on the hair too. Just haven't gotten to it yet. The suit she's wearing needs more work too.

01 January 2008, 01:29 PM
all the line works and poses are nice, can't wait to see the finals!~

01 January 2008, 08:59 PM
Okay, here's another rough work I plan on painting over. A naga this time. (

And here's an older pencil illustration that I'm thinking of painting in PS as well. (

Before I start painting again, I need to ask a favor. I need some decent brushes compatible with PS6. Ones that allow for better painting than that of the default brushes. If anyone can hit me up for any of the better painting brushes, please do let me know. :)

01 January 2008, 05:25 AM
Okay, I've started to work again on the original character sheet. I started on the skin, and I'm liking how it's coming along. There's a few lighting kinks I might need to work out though. Next layer to work on is the hair, and after that, the suit. ~Angela (

01 January 2008, 05:49 PM
looking great! I would def. add more to her eyes..she needs eye sheen and highlights. LOL good stuff cant wait to see more of your work as usual!

01 January 2008, 04:44 PM
Okay, I added some eye-sheen and high lights to the hair. The suit is next to be finished off. Thanx NerdyNinja! :) (

01 January 2008, 02:53 AM
Okay, I've finished up her suit. I also edited the BG. Mostly with a color adjustment, and a photo manip of a a shot just above the Earth, and toggled with laer blending options to get the overall effect. Then I lowered opacity so as to not have too much distraction from the artwork. Before that, I had blurred the photo-layer to further obsure any minute detail.

I think I'm happy with it, but as always I like feedback. ^_^ Let me know what you think. ~Angela (

01 January 2008, 05:46 PM
I added some extra hilights on the suit just to finish up. I think I'm leaving it as is for now. ~Angela (

01 January 2008, 04:48 AM
Okay, started up a new one here. This time it's a naga. For some odd reason I decided to draw him in a fetal type position. He's having some sort of breakdown I guess. I just started adding colors. The bg will be changed soon, since the light source will be coming from below, so I need some sort of effect there. Other colors on the naga may get switched around later too.~Angela (

02 February 2008, 03:54 AM
More work on the naga. I added in two light sources and the respective highlights. I'm going to start color blending with the smugde tool, and then work out more details after. ~Angela (

02 February 2008, 07:21 PM
where is the update??? me wants to see updates!! hehe Please share with us!:bounce:

02 February 2008, 04:39 AM
Okay, okay! ^_^ I got an update here for ya. Much more work done on the Naga. I have no clue where to go with the BG though. I just added two light sources and went from there. Might do a texture overlay thing. But anyway, here it is! I'll have more work done soon, since this one's almost finished. (

02 February 2008, 12:00 AM
'Kay, here's another update for you. I finished up the Naga, and added a BG. But I'm not sure if anything else needs to be done. Anyway, here it is.:) (

02 February 2008, 06:58 PM
bkg is looking pretty cooL! me likey! Now i think the light source on the top left should be less bright. that way the bottom one can be the more focused one. So instead of the yellow with the bright white it would just be a yellow glow in that corner. Other then that i have no crits!

03 March 2008, 04:48 AM
I just made that last adjustment to the light source in the naga pic, it's in my gallery. I figured I should update with the latest pencil sketches I've done. Some of which I plan to color. (
This is a chimera, or a creature made from many animals. Don't know if I'll be coloring this one. I made one before, one that looked more like a dog. (
This one, and I might color it. This one was done last year.

This is the latest here. (
This one is a more metaphorical work of mine. I started out merely wanting to draw deer, since I've been seeing lots of them on my property. Then, I had to decided I wanted a different BG than woods. So out of nowhere I think of a wine glass. Then the tree branches behind them. I realized they symbolized something while I was putting these elements together.
The glass itself resembles the shape of a womb, and being made of glass it showed how fragile life really is. And that the tree branches symbolized the Tree of Life. And then I added the double-helix at the base of the glass, as if it were plugging into it, supplying the needed genetic material to create the deer in the first place. I decided to call it "Life in the Wine Glass".

So, that's it for now. But I'm rather pleased with the Life in the Wine Glass piece. I haven't really done much like it.

03 March 2008, 04:23 AM
Here's a new piece I'm working on. I posted the original pencil drawing a few pages back. I've been planning to color it, so here's the start of things. (

Comments and crit always welcome. ^_^

04 April 2008, 05:31 PM
love the sketches! I think you should color them! That last one is coming along very nicely. lovely style!

04 April 2008, 07:55 PM
Okay, I haven't worked on this one for a while. I finally got back into the flow, and decided to tackle some BG elements. So here's the latest. More updates coming soon. (

05 May 2008, 06:14 AM
Here's the newest update on my current work. I've gotten some new BG elements colored in. There's still quite a bit to be done though.~Angela (

05 May 2008, 10:49 AM
Looking good Shiki
I thought the wings were coming along fine, but with the colour change they lost some texture. But will wait for you're further update to see what you do :)

05 May 2008, 01:30 AM (

Well, I just did some extra work on the BG, and I think I like it. By screening out parts of the BG elements, it gives the effect of the ghostly city which is what I wanted. I'll be working on the figures next. Any input on the BG is always welcome.~Angela

05 May 2008, 07:36 AM
Latest update. I've been doing some work on the characters, mainly the female. Just shading in things, then adding other colors, highlights, etc. I realize that the female character has proportions similar to a child's, but in a way that fits this character. She's an android who's appearance looks like a doll or child, so it fits. But let me know if anything looks like it needs some fixing.
I may want to add something more even after I finish the characters, since I don't know yet if it will look complete with the BG as it is. So any suggestions are open.~Angela (

05 May 2008, 03:44 PM
I like it. But I think you have too much of the soft glow going on. She needs some hard edges in there. I really like her face! Another thing is her hand closest to us seems a bit off...but the other one looks fine.:)

06 June 2008, 07:34 PM (

Here's the latest. I think I fixed most of the issues with this character. Now I think I actually want to change the BG again.

06 June 2008, 02:08 PM
Okay, here is the work on the male character so far. More coming soon. (

07 July 2008, 10:33 PM
Finally completed this one. After a few touch ups and color adjustments, I was happy with it. I also redid the city lights in the bg. (

Started a new one as well. It is one of the pencil drawings I posted a while back that I had planned to color. his is just the beginning, but I'm already liking how it looks. :)~Angela (

08 August 2008, 10:42 PM
very nicely done! I really like the last drawing that you are working on! Great ideas as usual and love the flow!

08 August 2008, 02:00 PM
Thanx nerdyninja! :)
I have added more highlights in the hair/seaweed, and her skin. I had to work in some shadow as well. I akready have the bg worked out, but I won't add it until I've finished the work on the character. (

I have some other ideas coming up too. So keep an eye out. ;) ~Angela

I added some more highlights to the hair/seaweed again. I also adjusted the colors around a bit, and I'm happy with fall colors for her. The BG color compliments it too I think. I added a water texture that I found on I think only a few more touchups and this one will be done. :) ~Angela (

Finished the Mer-Maiden piece. My last touches involved highlighting the tips of the seaweed hair, then playing around with the blending options on that layer. I then duplicated that layer, and applied a decent blur to give a soft ethereal glow. I did the same with the character layer as well. Hope you like. ~Angela (

Hey, I'm back again continuing with the workflow. This new work is again based off another drawing called Genesis. It's very strange and or disturbing, but I've been wanting to color it. So here's what's done so far. I am using the original linework as a guide, so I've included a picture of the image with lines and without. ~Angela ( (

the mer image came out really nicely! well done I like the glow that you added.

Genesis looks interesting. I think you should continue the vein look up a bit more into her skin to make it look more disturbing and itll make her look like more of a work in progress...hope you get what im saying LOL good luck!;)

I apologize for a long awaited update. I've been conectrating on quite a bit of traditional artwork at the moment, but I am making time again for the digital painting.
I took your suggestion on increasing the veins into her skin. I also got some needed shading done. This is it until I work on blending the colors, and figuring out a decent BG. Thanx again for all the crit and comments.:D ~Angela (

Blending has been done, including the addition of what will be a glass tank in a scifi lab setting. That's it for now.~Angela (

Okay, I finally finished this one. It has kind of a loosely painted BG, but I wanted the focus to be the girl in the lab-tank. I think it came out fairly nice. I have a bad habit of over-detailing, so the looseness could be a good thing. This one's going in the gallery. :) ~Angela (

I'm back, and I know I haven't been on in at least 2-3 months. I've had some things keeping me busy in life, and I've had quite a few commissions(mostly the traditional media kind).

Just to add something new to the sketchbook, here are some videogame background designs I was commissioned for. (
I was also commissioned to do numerous character graphics for the same project, but they are many, so I may only post a few here.

I only have one new personal painting that has been on the backburner for a while. I'm using a photo ref as a guide. I plan to have some little bird playing with a part of her hair, though I can't decide whether I want it to be a bird or a little dragon. I'll figure it out soon enough. ^^ (

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll update sooner than later this time around. :)~Angela

Cool works Shiki, i like your approach to these pieces, and that firey mer maiden piece is fantastic. It seems like you are establishing a good workflow too. =)

Hi and thanx Rabid1, :) I always appreciate the feedback I get here.

Another update, I actually tweakeed 2 of the BG's in the previous post; the cliff overlooking a forest and the light forest. They needed a less pixelated effect on the fiolage, so I used the smudge tool to my advantage there. (

More work on the other painting. I added more highlights and finally got around to painting a bird in there playing with her hair. Not sure yet what the BG will be like, but I'm thinking on it.:) I'll be blending the colors better in the woman next. (

That's all for now.

Changed around the BG color, and smoothed out the highlights and hair. I added more white to the bird so he'd show up a bit more. More to come later. ^_^ ~Angela (

This one's finally finished. I added water, and a BG. I decided to go for a monochrome look for the subjects. I achieved this by choosing the luminosity option in layer blending options.
Hope you like this one. (

I think what I'll be doing next is a few self portraits based off personal photos of myself. I've tried it in the past, but wasn't happy with it. Now, I think I can do better. We'll see. :) ~Angela
