View Full Version : mental ray hangs after FG calculation

i am rendering a rather huge scene with maya 8.5 64 bit.
it is a car model which i render using final gather.

my problem is the following: from time to time the rendering (command line) hangs itself after the final gather calculation and directly before the regular rendering starts. one processor is at 100% and that takes on forever as it seems.
anyone knows that behaviour?
the scene takes about 1.2 Gigs of ram to render in command line mental ray standalone (converted to .MI before). my machine has 4 Gigs.

a side question: is there a limit of memory that mental ray uses by default or is the default "unlimited"?

hope someone can help because like this i am not able rendering ofer night.
