I need to set the extension type in render globals with mel (name.#.ext, name.ext.# etc..
I found out about all the rdner globalls atrtributes names besides this.
How is it called?

Hope this isn't too late for an answer. To do that just use the following:

setMayaSoftwareFrameExt(1 , 0);

The first argument being your option from the Frame/Animation Ext drop-down list, 1-7.

super cool, thanks.
I am figthing with the pixel aspect ratio not staying what i set it to now.
setAttr "defaultResolution.pixelAspect") 1.0;
maya seems to have an internal way to change it again, any idea?

Well I guess you would have to check the "Maintain width/height ratio" option first with

setAttr "defaultResolution.aspectLock" 1;

And it will update it automatically.

lets see...
Hm and also lock the pixel aspect ratio?
It looks ok when i set the value but when i reopen the
render settings the old value is back.
I looked to createMayaSoftwareCommonGlobalsTab.mel
but couldnt figure what to use. I also tried to lock the attribute but that wont work either.
