View Full Version : Maya Vector Renderer and Fluid Effects

09 September 2007, 07:38 PM
I am trying to make fire effects with a cartoon look. When I render the frames with Maya Vector Renderer the fluid effects don't render.

Any help?

The vector renderer is not really for a toon look it's more for doing Flash animation but I guess it could be used for this. Have you tried setting your fluid's render type from volumetric to Surface? Then apply a MR contour shader and render in Mental Ray. You will then also need to set settings under Contours in the Render Settings.

I suspect this is not the best way to achieve the look you want (using fluids), but I can't think of another way just yet...maybe an animated precoedural texture?
