View Full Version : Render AmbOcc in Maya Software

This question is for those smart cookies. I want to render out a ambient occlusion pass in Maya. But I want to use Maya Software, not Mental Ray, and no plug-ins. I have feeling that I'll have to build a shader for it, but is there an easier way?

P.S. - I thought about bake out the MR AmbOcc into textures, but I still want to know what are other options.

Thanks in advance.

You can do it "a la" old school..I would go download Gi Joe on highend, or do quick dome light, then setup a white material and render it on a separate pass, then composite it on you favorite comp tool..I think it would approximate the look you want.

Friend of mine mention the same idea, but I'll check out the GI_Joe tool as well.
