I started using Maya 8.5 and I have a problem when rendering images with Mental Ray using image based lighting and trying to export them as PSD (layered or not) files.
When I open the PSD in Photoshop the parts of the image that are supposed to reflect the environment (the HDRI image), are transparent (see http://svanryckeghem.free.fr/images/maya-issue.png), while it looks right in the Render View window (http://svanryckeghem.free.fr/images/maya-issue-2.png).
I've spent some time on the web looking for an answer to my problem. It seems that the frame buffer setting in Mental Ray must be set to 32 bits to handle such image, but while it kind of works when rendering as TIFF, it doesn't seem to change anything with the PSD render.
So is it even possible to render such image as PSD, and what is the correct way to do it?
