Super good looking.
only crit might be that the background isn┤t fitting in here. Because its blowing from the hellacopter on the ground. So it seem as it has no "action" going on.

yeah! nice pic, very good integration in the photo, and realistic model. It would be better if you put more dirty textures.

Have to agree with the crits about the shadows and likewise I really think you have to find a way of amalgamating the copter in the pic by at least some blown dust.. (bending the grass and bushes might be tricky). I'd also say the body work could do with some more specular/brighter areas (though not using specular if you understand what I mean). Otherwise it looks great I'm very surprised it hasn't grabbed more attention. :)

hmm I think that the real conspiricy is how they managed to make something not cast shadows
maybe if you used the same models and didnt combine two or them or whatever it is you are using for the propellers it would rock.
that and I think that you might need to play with the lighting a little tiny bit
but damn thats a good pic.

i know what's fishy about the shadows - the shadows of the rotor blades are missing, they should actually be seen quite blurres as are the blades itself.

very nice... have to say my 2 cents as well ->
the action (wind) seems to be missing in the background (photoretouch might be enough) and
the shadow is a little too sharp

very impressive, ok i agree with the others about the need for some interaction dust etc, but also surely there should be a little bit of shadow from the blades too? and just a bit more blurred shadow. but even without those things it looks very convincingly "real". great work on the overall lighting and texturing (and of course a great model too).

Well the thing that threw me off is that the landing gear is blured a bit by focaldepth but yet the background that is even farther away is still in perfect focus.

The rendering is great.
But a bit too clean.
As some people mentioned, the shadow on the ground is too sharp. And some action is missing to get a final look.
But so far very good work.

as for the shadow, it needs to be bigger, it makes the chopper look like a remote control one!

i really like it, except the shadow. for me the shadow is a bit to small, that makes the whole heli look very small.

It looks like the rotorblades are bending down a little, while in the real world they would be bending upwards....

itd really astonishing, how strong a realistic background effects the whole picture.
It`s like a balancing element which increases the plausibility/naturalness of the 3d model.

great work! The copter itself looks completely finished. I wouldn't bother dirtying the textures unless you really want it to look beat up. However the shadowing needs to be fixed.
Also the grass in the foregound looks nice and calm...I know it would be hard but that should be blown back.

I think that the only places you need to dirty up the textures is on the landing skids. They look much to clean, especially compared to the rest of the copter. ANy other crits I have are already covered by others.
This is a great image. Regardless of some minor flaws ( and take it as a complment that people are looking that deep into this image) this looks amazingly PR .:applause:

Yeah the background has no wind effect, and i think the space is too small for the helicopter to land or take off.. The model's great! real great! like the textures.. and hope to see some animation!

I love the chopper but the shadow looks weird. First you need to add the shadow of the rotors as everyone has said but the shadow also seems too small like the chopper should be a lot higher than it is. Aslo throw in a few particle systems in the image to simulate dust and maybe some debris flying around.

Hey that's a great image. Very nice so far.
I have only one suggestion, but don't get me wrong, that is top notch in my opinion.
The suggestion is that the shadow on the floor needs to be much bigger.
Adjust the cone on the shadow casting light maybe? But it does need to be bigger.
What did you use to make this?

thanks guys. All my work is done in lighwave with all textures painted in photoshop.
There are a few problems that I'm seeing with the image but I threw it together yesterday in about an hour when I had some free time (it happens so rarely ;) )
the chopper isnt fully textured so comments like "the skids look too new" are totally valid as they dont have textures yet, and I ran out of time to render the shadow pass for the rotors. I'll try and do an updated version later.
modeling was a pretty basic method, starting out with a 3view and extruding some profiles to start with, nothing special, just paying attention to form and detail.

awesome, you did an incredible job and it can be better by doing a few things to the shadow on the ground, maybe lightening it up a bit, there is a lot of fill lighting from the sky so it shouldn't be that dark; also as someone else pointed out, the edges may be a teeny bit too sharp. The pic can also benefit from a little blowing dust and stuff. Otherwise its fantastic.

Technically brilliant and very photoreal! I mean despite the lack of a pilot ;) which is why I'll place this under vehicle. If you put a pilot in the cockpit with the same quality here, you'll have something off the chart. Love it

Very nice. I think though that the environment is not accurately reflected in the windscreen of the helicopter. Other than that (and the shadow) it rocks!
